in this video, I give you my favorite things to do & live by when I can’t bring myself to do any work. half way through the quarter system, it’s super easy to feel lack of motivation & feelings of overwhelm when things are going so fast, so here’s how I stick to my plan! 👧🏽 my last video: how not going to a top ten university changed my life: th-cam.com/video/Pm4vTxj6l7Q/w-d-xo.html ❤️ Rowena’s...

hello friends, here is my experience going from being a student at a bay area high school to getting rejected from my dream school (and almost every school LOL)... but a year later edition! i hope i am able to offer some key insights. TL;DR - you're going to thrive wherever you end up & i'm living proof!!! you've got this; go kill it wherever you go:) 🎶 music: rain th-cam.com/video/pdYJtRBPlTw/...
very very useful video.. thank you so much
How many credits do I get for completing three years of a foreign language in high school? It satisfies Area B for GE requirements but I'm not sure if I get credits from it.
girl this was so helpful, i definitely would have wasted MANY hours through planning classes without your tips!!
hey devanshi, do we put our high school grades in the fall grades section for major change or what?
this was really helpful,,one question: did you come to ucsb straight away from india or were you always an american resident ? (:
Omg! Thank you so much for making this video. I really worried about attending UCSB and you made me feel less anxious. Keep it up!
Ooo girl!! I'm a transfer student so trying to make a plan is a little hard for me since I have all my GE's besides 2 of the pre-comm courses finished. Any advice?
Can I fulfill the foreign language requirement if I study abroad my junior year or do I have to complete it my first two years?
Hi! Thank you so much for making this video! I'm going to be a freshman at UCSB and I already chose my courses for fall quarter and I tried doing a progress check on GOLD to see what requirements I have already fulfilled from my AP exam credits but none of them show up even though at orientation my advisor told me I had fulfilled a couple of the requirements already. Should I email someone about that or just wait to see if the credits show up?
Amazing content!! Keep uploading. Go and take a look at smzeus . c o m. It’s a handy tool to have when you’re trying to grow your social media, TH-cam videos, website etc!!
Hi! Thanks sm for this vid! I was wondering if I should wait until my online orientation this summer (mine is July 27) to register for classes or do so sooner?
ofc!! in my understanding, i don't think you can choose classes before orientation because that's usually when your pass time starts, but if your pass time is open before orientation go ahead and register! check in with academic advisors just to make sure, a lot of things changed this year
this video was so so helpful! i’m excited to start college at ucsb :)) thank you so much for your thorough explanations and advice💓
no problem :) i'm glad i could help
hi, i have a question about what you mentioned in the ge part. so if i understand correctly, i could only fulfill one letter even if the class can fulfill several? for ex, i want to take art history 6b which can take care of area f and area e courses but i'd have to choose only one letter to fulfill when i take it? how does that work haha
yeah! so even if the class *can* apply to two letter requirements, it will just count towards one, and this is just based off whichever one you need (as i understand it) - email advising to double check :)
I love Cajé!
Me too! :)
This video is so helpful! I felt so clueless so thank you! Is it possible to double major AND minor?
Glad I was able to help out:) Honestly, it depends on the majors & minor you want and how many units you're willing and able to take per quarter. I would highly suggest reaching out to advising to formulate a 4 year plan!
@@devanshi908 ah okay. thank you! also how long does it take to receive a certificate?
@@mirnatoxtle5455 it really depends on the certificate! i know people that've basically completed a certificate in one quarter LOL but that's an extreme. most people spread it out over multiple quarters
wait this was actually so thorough, even the resources you put in the description box damn also, do you know if not going to online orientation hurts you in terms of class registration? Like, does registering in August mean you have less of a chance at getting classes, or are there an equal number of spots reserved for then, too?
hey! i'm so glad i was able to help out:) i would def recommend going to online orientation if you can for the earlier pass times - it definitely helps in terms of class registration, the more time passes, the more classes fill up. as far as i know, i'm not sure if they reserve spots, i would reach out to advising to ask
omg thank you!! For changing major they ask for our fall grades, is that our highschool senior fall grades?
yes! high school senior fall grades:) glad this helped
I wish there was a video like this before I started UCSB 😂 Great Job! 🔥
thanks rohit! hope you're doing well:)
I am! I hope you are well too!
thank you so much!! I am unfortunately unable to afford orientation so this helps a lot (: would it be okay to msg you on social media if we have more specific questions?
i'm so glad i'm able to help! and of course, feel free to msg me. you can also leave a comment here, so that i can answer publicly to everyone that might also have a similar question!
Hey, you could still register for orientation! You can opt to defer the payment until the Fall quarter begins and it will be taken from your BARC account. Moreover, you can apply for the orientation $75 fee deduction application for low-income students! Don't let that stop you from joining online orientation this year! :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH
of course!! lmk if you have any questions AT ALL i'm totally down to make another vid:)
Same here. All throughout high school I wanted to go to the top schools, but life happened and rejections and set backs started piling up. However, after getting the SBCC/UCSB experience I honestly couldn’t think of a better way to live my college life. If you find the right people, the school is nearly perfect on all fronts. :) All of your four points resonated with me. A big college name doesn’t make you; you make you. Great and wholesome video once again, can’t wait for more!
thank you, jordan! exactly, life happens - it doesn't mean you can't make the most of wherever you go:) glad you're loving UCSB!
Sure it provides some of the general information about academics, but it's pretty misleading to advertise this as a full replacement of orientation, it lacks of lot of nuance for the different circumstances each incoming student has, and does not even address the special conditions of registration that only apply to first quarter students. So just be warned that this isn't everything new students need to know about matriculating!
hi sam! i did my best to include everything i could to the best of my memory & the resources that helped me the most. i know lots of incoming students can't pay for orientation right now, so i just want to make those resources available to everyone the best that i can. what am i missing? i'll try and make a part 2 to address this. thanks for watching!
Super cute & helpful :)
thank you joc <3
