    Another great video giving some great advice. I keep my Plano box stocked full of all kinds of colors with and without chartreuse tails.

    Great tip. I agree with you on your choices of colors ! One of my all time favorite colors is Bone color. It works in almost any condition, even at night. Tight lines !!!

      Thanks brother! We’re all constantly learning new things and changing our theories on the water. I often look back at how I use to do things and how my different theories on how to catch certain fish have evolved over the years.

    Ya, the into was pretty awesome!! I made a video today on top water color and size for redfish. I caught a limit and several small ones, changing lures/color on every fish. My theory was a feeding redfish (sight fishing) will hit any color you throw as long as it has a good walk the dog action, and not too loud for calm water. I enjoy all of your videos!! Keep em coming man !!

    Color doesn’t matter....till it does. Great video man! For me, time of year plays into it too. I throw a ton of pink in the winter and actually throw a lot of chartreuse this time of year cause of the amount of pogeys in the water. Good rules of thumb in this video!

    • @southernsalt

      Thanks brother! I’ve heard your saying if it ain’t chartreuse it ain’t no use lol, and their ain’t nothing wrong with that at all. If it works...it works.

      I’m a big fan of the Matrix Holy Joely color, particularly in the winter. I troll it on one side and the lemon heads on the other and always get a lot more on the holy joely.

    Very helpful insight for me being on the MS gulf coast. Can you talk a bit about proper retrieve? I've found the retrieve is very important. I'm mainly fishing the back bayous with very murky dark water.

    I feel like dark colors give a better silhouette in waters deeper than 20 feet, but I wonder if it is just confirmation bias as I always use darker colors in the deepest places I fish from 20 to 50 feet and pretty muck use white everywhere else.

    • @southernsalt
      @southernsalt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frank Ladd I agree with that. I personally love pearl white, and throw it mostly in tonic stained water like out around Jacksonville.

    Would you consider jigging 20 to 30 feet depths as low light conditions, if so, would that affect your choice in color?

    • @southernsalt
      @southernsalt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is axis great question and one I’ve not considered much. I would think if it’s clear water I would still use natural colors. If the water is a tad bit murky it would be darker blocking out more light and I think going bright could get more bites.

    • @blindhogadventures_Cory.F
      @blindhogadventures_Cory.F ปีที่แล้ว

      We jig here in Easter NC for Striped bass on the Roanoke River run for spawning and they sit on those dark water banks 20-30 feet down. Chartruse and White are the only colors you need in that dark water way down. 90% of the anglers that is all you will see them carry. Closer to the coast our water does not get that deep so 15 would be a deep hole but we still follow the same pattern he described here. Tight lines!

If you need anything just get in contact with me brother and I will set something to a stop for you. It's a free load so you don't have to worry about everything if you need anything. Again take it easy brother and please be safe.
