By that age, by that time, they are big enough to be considered “trophy status” in the sporting world, AND have had many spawning or breeding cycles. Catch it cook it, release it, whatever you wanna do! All within TPWD permitted regulations of course. Last year I tore up 25-31" Specs using nothing but my Paul Brown Fat Boy TX Chicken Lure. I tried same color paddle tails & caught small Spec's but if there's big Spec's in the water? They'll smoke that Fat Boy, Texas Chicken Color. My go too. I can cast it a country mile also. I'm talking about limiting out & start Culling 5min after daylight! From June thru Aug. off the Freeport & Surfside Jetties 🤟
