From experience: coming from a 15” late 2013 Retina, the difference is massive. Very few people will really upgrade from M1 unless they are usually upgrading every year. People coming from a MacBook air 2018 will see major difference. Depending on where you’re coming from

These two were the exact models I was debating over at the store, and I thought about it for a while. The MacBook Pro had a discount that made it 100 dollars cheaper than the Air, so I was in a very confusing position. I ended up getting the Pro since you can’t really say no to discounts. 1099$ probably the cheapest m2 mac out right now

Its cool but sadly because of the taxes that I have to pay when buying a product from another country I get apple products like more than the double price but I can say that it is worth it. In my opinion getting macbook pro M2 is way better than M2 Air. Especially Macbook pro having a fan makes ir way too OP. When you use Macbook Air you feel like your hands are burning. I have a 14” pro (since November). So I like Apple. But I think their marketing is getting super shady. I’m fine if you want to sell products at a premium - make a quality product and I’ll buy it. But a PRO DEVICE, should be better in every single way to an every level laptop. Not this, some things are better (like a fan, speakers, but the rest not). This is predatory sales practices to simply get sales off people who don’t know any better, simply want a pro name and don’t know what they are buying, or just marketing trickery. I get it, maybe they had a bunch of left over chassis they are trying to get rid of. But simply keep it as it is and sell it at a discount. Don’t put a new chip in an old ass machine and then market it as a pro. Same thing with watches…stop selling a Gen 3 watch when the next OS won’t even support it. Apple needs to stop being so desperate with sales tactics.

I use photoshop, illustrator, printing programs all day with multiple huge files open . I’ll have 15 tabs open. It always performs well and fast. Everyone says wait for the M2 pro. News flash, this computer does EVERYTHING FAST. Even if a m2 model comes out and does some things faster, keep in mind, software always has to catch up. If you want the best laptop possibly ever, get it now. Waiting for the next version, simply for 5 second faster gains, seems silly….

@@eliosn1217 it all depends on your uses. If you’re a pro, get the Pro. If your a student who multi tasks like crazy, get the pro. The reality is a lot of people think they can use an air and it be perfectly fine….and it can, but are you very disciplined in how you use it? Meaning, can you simply use one or two programs at a time and close other things out? Or do you get lazy and keep a bunch of junk open? Most people fall into the second category and while on paper the air is fine, the way they use their laptops tell another story. I’ll be perfectly honest. I try to save money when I can, but what I’ve learned with Apple is more often than not, the low spec device never really lasts… Either because of Apple “updates” that bog down the machine, or because of your own uses that end up being much more taxing on the machine than you though….

The m2 came with 512 gb of ssd whilst the air m2 had 256. there was the m1 air available at 650 dollars but had to be pre ordered with a 2 week estimated wait time and I needed the laptop urgently. something I noted which was getting overlooked by a lot of people was that the pro comes with a fan while the air does not, this is important because where I'm from temperatures outside are hot.

•Since the base model has a single NAND, the SSD is very slow.

So, if you go for a 512 GB Storage, 16 GB Memory and 10 Core GPU, the price becomes $1699 compared to $1999 for the and its a little confusing cuz I’m not sure if I should spend $2000 on this machine.

Based on my MacBook Pro (2019), I like that the fan allows the Pro to stay much cooler than the Air. Both will get warm during heavy use but having that internal fan is clutch since I work at least 6+ hours a day on my laptop. I have seen my friend's Air (albeit the M1 version) get laggy after prolonged use. So in the end, just comes down to how much you are using your computer. My general rule of thumb is if you are using it for work, go Pro. If you are using it for casual use, travel, etc. go Air.

Why the hell did they get rid of the speaker grille in the m2 mba? it was part of the aesthetic and it could have helped with the cooling. They should have placed the speaker grille horizontally above the keyboard and also gotten rid of the sides to make the keyboard the edges like they did on the 12” macbook and the dell xps 13. That would have been a much cleaner look

I still don't know which would be suitable for my use :( I'm currently using the macbook air 13" (2018). The only reason I want to upgrade is that my current macbook air heats up pretty quickly and is very loud. I need it for uni and having a lot of assignments, I always have a lot of tabs and PDFs open while working. But that overheats it a lot and it starts working slower (and louder...sounds like an airplane...), which is pretty annoying. So, which of the M2 would be suitable to avoid that problem?

For me, it comes down to the screen. I don’t strictly need the power of the Pro to edit photos professionally, but the screen is sooo much nicer. The Air only has 500 nits of brightness (100 nits less than even my iPad Pro) and no HDR. The 14 and 16” Pro have up to 1600(!!!) nits of brightness, and full HDR capabilities. I don’t need the 120Hz refresh rate of the Pro, but it’s nice. If the Air’s screen was even 70% the quality of the 14/16” Pro’s, I’d get that one and be very happy to save a bunch of money.

Im also running a 2012 MBA base model and it does what it needs to do. Emails, web browsing (anything more than 5 tabs open starts slowing down LOL) and video streaming does the job and it cost me nothing other than replacing the battery once in 10 years that cost me $100. I only need the base model regardless how some channels are basically trashing it but im sure if im content with my current MacBook now, I know for sure ill be happy with the newest air. I know everyone is saying to get the m1 air and save some money but its an old body style and even though im saving money on getting that, I dont feel like im getting what I paid for. Basic rule of thumb for all computers: never buy one with 256gb of storage. Especially when that storage is not upgradable.
After you install a few apps, have a few photos and a couple videos - your computer is full. Performance starts sagging, you’re buying expensive SSDs to increase your space, you’ve got dongles, dongles and cords - you’re life is a fucking mess and you’ve spent more money accommodating a stupid size of hard drive than just buying a proper one outright.
512gb is the minimum storage you need. Absolute minimum.
1TB is optimal and 2 is absolute cake.
      Never. Buy. 256GB hard drives.

Why do people think Megasafe is a "new thing" or a buying point just to get the M2 ? Its not... Megasafe existed in 2015. Apple just decided to bring it back (probably due to demand), but its not new...
Its just thinner, so not to confuse people they renamed it to Megasafe "3"
If you wanna discuss differences, Rosetta 2 has more going for it than Megasafe 3
To me, the charging only port is just not worth all the hype as its makes it out to be. Particularly when docks nowadays have USB-C pass-through anyway. People just don't want to buy one, that's the real issue.
Besides, half of those same users will probably get a dock anyway, so the charging issue becomes even less moot.

The new m2 pro is the only real option because no one should be buying MacBooks with 8tb of memory. So the M2 air 16GB/512GB is $1700 and the M2 pro with better cooling, better processor and proper ports is $2000. No brainer to go pro.

What do you think? I'm in Best Buy the other day and cruising past the Apple Display of computers and noticed the NEW M2 MacBook Pro is on sale - $200 off! That's interesting...but wait there's more. Because I am a Total Tech Member, and I live in Florida, I save another $50 as a Tech Member, and I save another $65 in taxes because Florida has a "tax holiday". But, there's more. Being a Total Tech Member I get FREEE Apple Care. All added up this a net cost to me of $750. I purchased it for the net value to me. Am I wrong?
I have a Mac Studio, and new 14" M1 iMac I use as a Studio Display with the Mac Studio with Universal Control, a 27" iMac with 64GB RAM and the office, a new iPad Air and an M1 iPad Pro, but NO laptop. I'm not a "Pro" user so the configuration is fine. Thoughts?

What would you recommend for a college student in accountant/finance that does everything online and uses excel spreadsheets. And heavily uses a computer day to day. Price point didn’t matter. I just need a laptop that can last me 3-6 years

M2 MacBook Pro 13 inch has a few upsides
    - Touchbar
    - Has more portability than the other pro models, and still packs a punch
    - Cheaper than the other pro models and the 15 inch air
probably gonna get discontinued this September so the 6 year design will finally end

At croma store, they are offering me M1 pro 14 inch, 16GB, 512GB at 1.25L, as that is the last piece they have, and they are saying they will not provide any warranty. The battery cycle is 14. Rest seems to be fine. What do you guys think? Should I go for it? Or M2 air 16/512 at 1.56L?

Here in Korea the Pro 13 M2 is actually cheaper than the Air M2 🥲, there are no Air M2 available (3 weeks wait approximately), and the Pro 13 M2 is actually available for next day delivery 😫 As prices are basically the same over here, which one would you choose?

@@BrightRightInfo I ended up buying the air m2 because i’m always carrying a bunch of stuff and next day delivery was available (plus some discounts with the credit card). I realized later that the long wait was for the Korean keyboard version, and i don’t write much in Korean 🤣 (so i got a keyboard cover with the Korean letters on it). I really like it honestly, i don’t do much heavy stuff besides using google drive for work and having multiple pdf’s open. It has worked amazingly well and the creen quality is awesome :)
