    About me:
My first Rally game was collin McRae rally on PS one Portable when I was a small boi. Later on, I came into contact with Richard Burns Rally and WRC series on X-box. Then in 2019 Dirt Rally 2.0 came out and that was for the first time when I competed against other people.

Rallying to me is like taking a nature walk or a hike, but with a car. Its really relaxing sometimes

For years ( I'm talking 15) I was on average 30 seconds behind leader, drove me nuts. Most of that done with a G27 wheel. I've had a DD wheel from Simxperience for bout 2 yrs. I now run consistent 20 -15 secs behind, the odd times I've hit single digits. I have close to 10 grand (Canadian dollars) put into my rig as I've upgraded over the yrs. I rally every day usually 2hrs and on my day off I easily hit 5 hrs. (all in vr). I cannot say about circuit racing as I have not done any since I've gotten the DD wheel as it's been all Dirt Rally II. ( Nothing beats the pounding on the body that the DD puts me through) My circuit times were also 30 secs with the G27 so who knows.
    Just my experience anyway.
    Cheers

WRC Generations has a better career mode than dirt rally 2.0 and overall is much kinder to a player . Dirt rally 2.0 offers great car variety with quality that WRC G cannot match especially in the sound department. WRC Generations offers though a lot of stages with more details.
Honestly, If you are a Car person and perhaps enjoy group B Dirt rally 2.0 is definitely superior but just like Group B it is a tough game to learn.
WRC is better if you like the sense of progression and team management.
Dirt also has a rally cross.

Cheaper to race point is kinda wrong. Hardware gives and not gives the same advantage as in other sims/games 🤔

Thanks for the comment. I have to disagree because rallying is about general car direction while circuit racing (not counting rallycross,...) is about precise inputs. I am finding that in games like DR 2.0 and WRC generations gamepad is more competitive and enjoyable than in for example AC . Even RBR can be played on gamepad but requires tweaking to be enjoyable mainly because of the axis not being limited by the game for the player.

@@FortySeventhGear but still the best times are made on wheel and doing it requires some precision. Circuit racing is pretty much similar. There's plenty of guys in leagues using gamepad and they are competitive. Some leagues even banned that and requires to prove that u using a wheel. Even exF1 driver Jacques Villeneuve used Xbox controller on official eSport event without issues in the pace. U could be suprised how precise driving with gamepad can be.
BTW most of world records in Live For Speed are done with mouse steering.

@@FirssenSimracing I am aware of gamepad being usable in circuit racing, but I am looking at it technically where in rallying its general car movement that is relevant to cornering (especially on gravel snow and mud) which means that the precision, steering wheel gives you or the force feedback do not need to be of high quality and matter a lot less than in circuit racing where the idea is to always use all the rubber and all the road. also rallying has lot less controls that need to be binded (no need for mirrors, abs, TC, Brakes,...) which means you can get all controls needed on something cheaper like g 27 or even my gamepad struggles to keep all the controls in especially on high downforce vehicles.
But overall I agree with your points . it is just that from my own experience in rally games when i compare the times... wheel is better but only with harder to control cars (Group b) where its really nice to have clutch and force feedback helping my rapid oversteer paranoia. other wise the times are neck to neck. I do not play much of circuit racing but When i do I like to play on brands hatch or Nordschleife and there gamepad does not allow me to drive as fast especially on mid-high speed corners and cambered corners with wheel i can get faster time by atleast a second or more (brandshatch speaking).

The closer you are to the limit, the closer you are to crashing. Depending on the length of the rally, you gain more time driving like grandma.

AC mods is variable, but most of them Not realistic at all... Game developers and racing drivers know more, than modders, and there is reasons for it. So I wouldn't recommend assetto Corsa for rallying. Even project cars2 better at it.

    • @FortySeventhGear
      @FortySeventhGear  ปีที่แล้ว

it's though the easiest way for a sim racer to try out rallying without a need for purchase. Thats why it is mentioned. AC is only good on the tarmac.

Thing is, RBR is not a free software. You are all pirating it, but I think that's morally fine as it's basically abadonware.

It's not piracy if there's no company to sue you XD
