thx! there is a part 2 as well th-cam.com/video/qPfCoVWr9lo/w-d-xo.html and if you're in to fiberglass, I have 7 videos on the Lake n Sea site of a 14' - lake n sea Caribbean lakenseaorg.wordpress.com/
Really, really nice job. I have a 13' MacBay Thunderbolt which is very similar being made with a U.S. Molded Shapes hull. I should leverage your efforts as inspiration to finish mine!
I am just starting a rehab on a '57 Wagemaker. Your project is an inspiration! When I'm done it will live on Lake Tahoe. I have dozens of questions, of course. But mostly looking for a resource for your logos and emblems. (I'll ask about windshield sources another time)
I made the hull emblems by using a 2 part mold material from the local craft store chain. I can send you a pair. Need your address. You can also by a pair of decal type on ebay. You can order a new "vintage" windshield from Taylor boat parts but shipping is very high. I got mine from Dave Albertson c.716-602-8344 and he replied below in the comments if you want to just send him a message.
I'm not sure how to send you my address without everyone on TH-cam seeing it, but if you contact me at tsmgc54@gmail.com, I'll send you my mailing address. Let me know what I owe you, and thanks for the referrals....what did we do before the interweb?
Point taken. I did purchase the music on Amazon and have purchased his CD's when attending a couple of small concerts in the northern neck. Regarding your restoration, there is a good group in the both the northern neck Reedville area and Smith Mountain Lake. SML has great workshops at members homes. There should be one coming up towards the end of October.
ezrider this is great. just starting the restoration of grandpa's wolverine. it's a but older and smaller than your gorgeous boat. any more details. parts and color lists?? any breakdown of what you sanded it with or down to? like to maybe call ya or email you and just get a bit more detail and advice. let me know!
I had a blast watching this. I was given a 1952 Ashcraft Wolverine by my older brother. My dad and I restored it but not like this. She was the Wuliph. Thank you. Where did you find the mahogany to build the forward deck? I have this crazy idea to make a tonneau cover for my pick up like the deck of the wolverine.
The original deck was 1/4" ply. This is 1/4" teak & holly. Both sides and all edges have 4 coats of CPES prior to the varnish to eliminate/ reduce moisture wicking. Tape both sides to reduce splintering and cut larger then finish sand to fit. Thanks.
Wow! Very nice. I have a 54. The front teak deck looks like tongue and groove thicker than 1/4 inch? I didn't see any caulking of the teak deck; is it a plywood product? Thanks!
can you tell me the best place to buy the replacement parts for that type of gas tank? I have done some searching and find a lot of complete tanks but not parts only thanks
Thanks Tommy Byrne i Was looking all over for what the song was. I thought it was seager singing. But even with the name i can't find it anywhere but here. Even on UT they have it under his list of songs but when you click it it says unavailable.
It took approx. 18 months of "hobby time". There were many void weeks. Here is a little bit more from a post this morning www.woodyboater.com/blog/2015/03/12/fellow-woody-boater-eric-zelman-shares-his-restoration-of-a-cool-wagemaker/ I took lots of picture so I would know how to put it back together! thx
I found that these folks had good prices for the wire BestBoatWire.com I shopped for the other components; i.e. Jamestown Dist. , IBoats, Wholesale Marine, etc.
Hi, Firstly, I enjoyed the video as I am in the middle of a similar restoration of an old 1920s runabout and your video was useful, thank you ! My comment was not meant to be rude, but rather to bring attention to the fact that most people overlook digital rights when it comes to music. No, your video is not for profit, but that doesn't negate anyone's responsibility to pay compensation for and/or ask permission to use material in its content. (I noticed that you gave Matt Smith acknowledgement for a Graphic). Did you or someone pay for the camera which took the pictures... of course, so why would the background music be different. What if the singer/songwriter didn't want his music associated with this particular brand of boats or 'do it yourself' projects, because he thinks it would demean his work ? Highly unlikely in this case, as I know the song writer and he would have likely embraced both the use and the content happily and with gratitude for Gratis, but nonetheless, this is why TH-cam asks the question when you upload... "Is this your material ?" or something close to that. If Save the Children tried to use a Beatles tune for an ad or for anything that was not for profit, they'd be sued within a milk carton of their lives... this is no different. So, no offense meant, but if enough people are reminded, 'politely' then musicians can hopefully start getting paid for their work in accordance to its use, properly.
I'm not the poster of the video, but "save the children" actually pays people with the donations it receives. As far as musicians are concerned, they should consider themselves lucky if someone uses their music and it gains popularity.
Right, and they should consider themselves lucky if you bother to go to iTunes and download their music as well I guess, huh ? re: Save the Children, Exactly my point ! A few years back they got in trouble for some alleged corrupt biz activity, shouldn't the Artist have control over who uses their music ? It's not just about being paid !
lol- just never got around to compiling the next video. Started a 22' boat project that's kept me busy. There are some pictures posted at the bottom of this page. www.wagemakerwolverineboats.com/boat_show_award_winners.html
Say, great video. I just began a 1954 Wolverine runabout, and boy do I have questions. I'm not the most computer savey individual. Any chance we could exchange email addresses so I could ask specific questions? Thanks! Carlton
Awesome job, just love the old Woody's.
Wonderful job. Thanks for sharing. I had a Wolverine with a 40 horse Johnson as a boy. 'The Seagull' was my first love.
Dear ezriver80.
Simply fantastic! Extremely well done. Very impressive looking boat. Congrats.
Best regards.
Beautiful job. I'm so glad people are taking these projects on and restoring these classics. Is there anything more beautiful than a wooden boat?
Awesome job , I do boat work ,it’s been 48 years now and I think it looks great

You do great work, and nice documentation! The windshield looks great!
ezriver tells me you might be a source for a '57 Wagemaker windshield...
Any truth to the rumor?
Beautiful work Eric.
thx Derwin

Holy Smokes. Awesome job and nice video documentation. Do you do restorations for a living? The level of detail is extraordinary. Well done.

Did you pay Robbin Thompson a royalty for using his music on your video ?
+Tommy Byrne why? Was there a profit made on this video?

It's not just about being paid !
Tommy Byrne If it's on the internet, you've already lost control. I'm not going to advocate civil asset forfeiture and SWAT teams to combat song use.
Why no update? Did it sink? :/
