    Great video,reminds me of the time when I was growing up in upstate New York, where Hacker Craft was based in a little town at the north end of Lake George.

      Indeed, the upstate NY lakes were hot spots for these old boats!!!

      BTW, when I was a kid my dad bought a Yellow Jacket molded plywood boat. It was sweet.

      Great story!! I recall the Yellow Jacket plywood boats manufactured in Dennison Texas! I believe that is also the boat referenced in The Alan Jackson song "drive". th-cam.com/video/dQe3DKDQRRs/w-d-xo.html

    Requires a great deal of maintenance to keep these beauties looking sharp.

      Yes, it is indeed a labor of love which is evident. Living works of craftsmanship and art.

    The 61 boats all had cable steering that was finicky because the cables could stretch or come loose. The hydraulic steering is not orginal

      @classicperformance  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct. Many are upfitted with modern rigging and power for reliability and safety also making them more readily useable with non-soak 5200 bottoms.

      These indeed are boats. I would love to see a fiberglass boat from today, 60 years from now. You most likely will not.

    Beautiful boats you have , I got a 1949 Bourber 12 ft runabout built in Newburn Up close to your show . But not as beautiful as yours and got a 194? Army Barge motor with 2 different lower units , it’s a 22 hp Johnson , still painted O-D Green .

    Thanks for doing the video. I contemplated going to the show from NY but didn't make it. Suggestion. Keep hand out of video and do not know of any boat or car guy that likes someone to put there hands on their hard work.

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Robert, I appreciate the tips to consider. I'd never touch a car at a car show. With boats, these are in open splashing water, had a few light showers on them over the weekend, plenty of pollen this time of year, and I asked if I could touch it. These are not cars at an indoor car show brought in enclosed trailers which you would never touch. Boats like this once back at the shop will require extensive cleaning and evacuating water out of the hull. Have you ever had assistance in docking without someone touching your boat? Have you ever entered a boat without stepping or sitting on the side of it or without stepping on a seat?

    Ah, Dick Pope envy. Obsession and envy is a wonderful(terrible) cognitive dissonance exercise. I have done my share too, yet everyone seems to promote it.

    Get that baby blue fiberglass boat out of there. What a disgrace to all the beautiful wooden mahogany boats!

      Ahhh, Steve. some of those old fiberglass boats need some love too. We do appreciate the wooden ones tho! Agree
