  • Today we got into our rear door to fix a problem we have been having with the interior lights not coming on when you open one of the back doors on my 2008 ram 3500, this wasn't a bad fix but we went a little farther then you would really have to go to find this problem on your trucks if this was the problem you were having. There is actually a wire that is really common to breaking in the harness between the door and the cab of these trucks and in this video I show you guys how i went about fixing it. The problem doesn't take very long to fix and usually once you fix it you are good for a while. Please don't forget to give this video a like and comment below to let me know if it was helpful to you or not and as always don't forget to subscribe to the channel i have been doing my best to bring you guys a new video every week.

    To save a lot of time. There is no need to pull the interior panels off. The connector can be removed by pushing and prying with a flathead on the forward and rear side of the connector between the rubber boot and the pillar.

      I'm glad you said that, I did do another video fixing it again where I did do it exactly how you said here, it was my first time doing that job and I had no idea what I was getting into. I really appreciate that you said something about it.

      Well damn. Didn't know that.
      I watched another video where the guy soldered them back together, and (I believe) covered it in heat shrink tubing...... might've been Briansmobile1. Now I have a broken pair, to fix and beef up for next time.

    I did the same thing with the interior panels because I was worried about breaking the connector inside the pillar plus It looked like the other part might fall back behind them. Somewhere along the line I decided to go to my TH-cam advisor. I decided to remove the entire harness because I have like all but two wires that broke like they were cut in the same spots. Aftermarket harnesses are like $38.00 so I'll most likely go that route. The only problem I am having is not being able disconnect the harness from the door latch inside the door. I was hoping someone would have posted something about the way that connector disconnects.
    This Ram or maybe al of them have problems that seem like poor quality like my rear window leaking all under the bacxk seat filling up the two sides under the exit seats

      These trucks are a hand full for sure, the door latch connectors aren't too bad but I don't have any video of them and I don't even know where to start on that back slider, I got lucky a while back and my leak was just the 3rd brake light.

    They all brake after so long. Just butt connect and tape or shrink wrap them

    Unfortunately I’ve repaired the wires so many times there is no slack left in them. Astonishingly bad design by Dodge. Should have been one separate component that goes through the door and clips on both ends - then the whole unit could be replaced. It will be my tipping point for replacing both my Megacabs. Tundra, here I come.

    Just did this to my truck every wire was broken..I soldered them etc I did remove the harness and was able to save the boot wrap wires and coated them with dielectric grease inside the boot hopefully aid in movement. But this is a terrible idea for dodge

    • @Cargill450
      @Cargill450  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      🤦🏼‍♂️ I didn't even think about putting dielectric grease on the wires to help them move in the boot thats an awesome idea!

    thanks ,gonna replace a whole harness after fixing seven wires a few years ago. I just strip back the boot like u said. Paint can openers help put the boot back over the harness . My picks tend to poke holes in the rubber
