I do not own a motorhome, but I am interested in a gmc as I approached retirement and I am educating myself on these homes as I watch all your videos This video was 10 on 10. Thank you for teaching us.

Great info in this video! Lighting/audio/pacing were really good!
I really appreciate you taking the time to post these - even though I know you've covered most everything in earlier videos...things change, products phase out and in, and this kind of info isn't "evergreen" like some things. Plus, a lot of the older videos (by anyone) are not very good quality - grainy, bad audio, etc. One of my pet peeves is asking a question on a forum - motorcycles, for example - and having one of the moss-backs tell me to "do a search, that question has been answered a hundred times...and rant on for a few paragraphs" (Odds are that I already DID a search and either couldn't find it, or what I did find was totally out of date...)
On the Q-jets, i used to sell a metal "heat-shield" gasket, don't recall the number but it was a factory part for a GM of some sort. We'd put them as the bottom gasket, I think Moroso used to make something similar. I noticed the thick gaskets have plastic grommets in the bolt holes to keep them from smushing out from over-tightening. I've rebuilt a few Q-Jets and had decent results, but one of my customers could make them better than new and I'd take him the carb and a Borg-Warner or Sorensen carb kit - Jiffy Kit in an emergency...and he'd set 'em up for me.
Good info on the pressure spring on a mechanical pump - even after auto mechanics class (about 1976) and 30 years of owning a parts store, I never realized that's how the pressure is regulated. Makes perfect sense now.
As a Chevy guy, the Olds "reverse rotation" distributor blew my mind when I first ran across it! I'd put a '70 350 Olds in a '70 4.4.2 that I bought for $500 with a blown-up 455. Good solid car - nice sway bars, handled really well for a mini-tank.
Fuel filter - I used to see a LOT of kinked fuel lines at the fittings where guys wouldn't use a wrench to back up the fitting before removing the line - I know you have, too - it might be worth a mention for some of our non-ancient enthusiasts. Those lines are a bear to bend from a chunk of tubing - just best not to screw 'em up in the first place.
We had guys ask us which way the paper filters went into the carb pretty often - if I recall correctly, the hole goes to the fuel pump side and there's a spring that goes in first. I ran across some of the filters that had a "check valve" in them - guessing it was for GM applications that would let the fuel siphon back through the pump, but never really figured it out.
We used to run a FRAM gas filter on our old hot rods - I think it was an HPGC? Looks like FRAM doesn't make it, but a company called Pegasus has a clone for about $75. It's a 5 micron and has a huge element. I've often thought it would work out well on the GMCs.
Keep the Faith and Thanks Again!

I would love to know what the part number is for the 3 port mechanical fuel pump because I have been struggling with vapor lock even with an electronic fuel switch/pump.

Great video! Great information! Just got an ‘85 Suncrest and I’m really excited to start working on it. I am having a little trouble getting information on it. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm just learning the hard way about control modules/units. If I still had my 1972 Dodge Sportsman, I'd be able to survive. If that guy had honored his word with the '72 Revcon, I'd be able to survive. CARBURETORS. I'm sitting in a shop, out of money, because the US government doesn't honor its word either, facing deletion -- because my rig is controlled by computers and fuel injection.

1976 elaganza 2. 3 months ago started and ran motor for 15 min ir so. Wanted to run her for a bit and cant for the life if me to get her started. Pump away and then floods. Does the carb need remand? It was my uncles who passed away and I want to sell her. But it need to run. Planning on tuning up oil change and such. Probably inline carb filter (thanks for the info) . Beyond that I don't know what to do.

Chances are the accelerater pump is bad and/or the “snot ports” are leaking. Send it to guaranteed carbs, call me for details

seems like one of the first things you do with your engine if it is in working order is to change to that carburetor because of the new fuel etc. of todays world.
