    Would a stainless steel tank be better for ethanol?

      That's a great question! There really isn't much of a difference...... stainless is just heavier and cost more. Both are equally great!

    eathnol will not hurt a steel gas tank.

      But doesn't ethanol, being hygroscopic, promote the contamination of the fuel with water? This is not desirable in a mild steel fuel tank. See (amongst other sources) 'Ethanol and Water Contamination: Results and Observations' by Hay, Sousa and Makino of the University of Nebraska.

      Ethanol can damage many parts of your car at concentrations above 10%. Ethanol can destroy gas tanks, fuel pumps, gaskets, and attract moisture into your fuel.Jun 8, 2022
