  • It seemed like an easy maintenance project to replace the fuel filter but it got a little complicated when it leaked after the job was done. I ended up replacing the fuel filter housing and in the end. I did benefit from finding a supplier of great Quadrajet parts.
Here is a link to the fuel filter housing I used.

Appreciate the videos and channel. We just got a 76’ Palm Beach and are going through the motions of upgrades and replacements. This is all very helpful

Get a bottle of Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket sealant liquid for any fuel line threads. I also use it on my fuel tank and oil drain plugs.
Doesn’t take much. Remains flexible too.

Interesting, I haven't used Permatex Aviation Form-A-Gasket but it looks like useful stuff.

You might want to replace nylon fuel inlet gasket and keep a few on hand. It can get crimped if you’re in the midst of tightening. When I moved my coach from CA to AL I had to change one in a parking lot in NM. It was easy to do and I recognized the symptoms from a second barn find coach we had to bring back from dead.
    Hope that helps! Great videos!

Hi Ray, Thanks for the comment and great point about the nylon washer. I did order an extra to keep on hand. I think it should last quite a while but it's always good to have an extra.

@@MrGMCMotorhome I agree. I picked up a pack of 7 or so. Even though my coach had new tanks, they still get trash in them. I want to put a better filter in where my electric fuel pump is just forward of the AUX/main valve.
When in AUX position the electric fuel pump runs and overcomes any vapor lock that can happen due to heat or weak mechanical pump on front of the engine. When in normal mode the pump is off (in case of accident). The aux only gives about 6 more gallons.
Keep up the good work! Love your channel. Somehow I was unsubscribed, but added it back today.

nice job; really thinking about getting one just with this gas prices makes it hard to decide

In the big scheme of things, gas prices are not the most expensive part of owning one of these. Unless you are always driving. We drove about 1,200 miles last year and may drive 3,000 this year. At 8 mpg, if gas prices double, it may only cost us an extra $1,000 all year for gas. We'll spend a lot more than that on camping, maintenance, repairs, insurance, ... 😄

So that 1cm pipe with a 50 gallon tank at 8mpg is being filtered by a lipstick case sized fuel filter? Wow. I have a bigger fuel filter on my lawn mower. I know there is a mantra for getting everything "back to stock" and "if you haven't got it you can't break it". But there is a reason cars and trucks aren't built that way any more. I found the Jim Bounds videos on the GMCs like going back in time to 1985. It was all a bit surreal

It's amazing to me that they system works as well as it does. I think most people add a larger fuel filter on the frame, just ahead of the tanks. I plan to do that but the current system still works so I'll carry a few extra filters and keep working on other projects. :-)

1976 elaganza 2. Started and ran her end of April. Pumped her and cranked right up. Mid July pump away and smell flooded won't start. Going to tune up. But I'm not carb savvy. Any help would be great

I always start with the basics if it cranks but doesn't start. Does it have spark? Is it really getting fuel? Is the choke working as expected? After that I'm mostly out of ideas. I'm not a carb expert either and took mine in for a professional rebuild a while back, it made a huge difference and has been running great since.

Part number of the fuel filter housing?

      @MrGMCMotorhome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Jeff, I got the housing from Quadrajetpower.com and the part number is "FFHK" for the housing and filter kit that I got. You can also get just the housing with part number "Inlet1". quadrajetpower.com/fuel-filter-housing-kit-new-1-housing-filter-gasket-and-spring-all-new/
