I don't get the lack of love in general for this song. It deserves so many more views. Reactors love it but the views aren't there and they should be. This is so soothing
I think some of the significant ways in which it differs from the original are off-putting to some folks. I had to give it several listens before I could get past that staccato rhythm, especially at the beginning, and I know of at least one other Beach Boys fan who was utterly inconsolable over the changes in the chord progressions. Not everyone who runs into that sort of mental block will stick around to give it another try, unfortunately.
I love how they do the lighting. When Geoff starts singing, in his low voice, "Now it's dark..." the lights in the background all go out. Then slowly come back on as the music builds. Fantastic!
Love your reaction, as always. One of my very favorite parts of this video is the lighting; how we go from rosy morning/daytime to the "blue hour" of late afternoon/evening to starry night to predawn grey and back to morning sun.

This is sooooo different than nothing else matters, but just as amazing. Their talent is so versatile
Glad it stuns the professionals as well, cause I did not expect this either and I'm still not over it. I had this on repeat for the last couple of days and it's just such a vibe and also very visually pleasing. They outdid themselves with set design and lights in this one.
You are right that it takes more than one listen to actually pick up on everything, but the more that I have listened to it, it has only gotten me more emotional, because it brings back memories of my grandpa and his summer home.
Mortius, you are next level for me. Your ability to be emotionally connected immediately elevates you as a reactor and amplifies the music in a joyful way for me. I love reactors that validate my own experience with a particular song. It’s a lovely connection. Your inability to remain upright during an entire song also amuses me in the best way. 😻Keep on being real and sharing that with us.

Way back 🦕when I was young, everyone else was listening to the Beatles and the Stones, I was listening to Motown and the Beach Boys. With DeeJay’s collaboration they managed to combine the two into a stunning piece. I love the harmonies!!

I saw the Beach Boys in concert several times in the mid and late 80s. Loved this song then and love it now.

I think it’s amazing that while Layne’s arrangement is more staccato than the original, it feels like a warm hug.
In addition to their arrangements, their attention to the look of the video helps make them distinctive. This was filmed in Rayne’s Room Recording Studio. Owned by Layne, they have filmed many videos here including ACA Top 10s and Chandelier.
When Layne dressed the set he included items for each VoicePlay member, Deejay, his daughters, his grandmother, and his wife’s family. Items he added for himself included his violin, his hoverboard and a book of his favorite Disney movie.
Once again, Mortius is broken. Which is why we keep coming back to watch. ;)

It has its time and place. In the right place I don’t mind it at all, in the wrong place it can ruin a song for me

watched the video without interruptions. First time listening to one of their songs. The rendition was a little breathy the bass was very good. I think I heard him before. I'm 74 so I know the original. Really, the only Beach Boys song I liked. As for Voice lay the beat and cadence I don't really suit The song and Mortius I beg to differ It is not very good. Will check out some other songs from them. But then I'm a home fry.
