    Oh my GOODNESS! To see it out of the water on a road is nuts! haha

      The first time we did it was terrifying. However, so much cheaper to do it yourself then hire to have it shipped. And the places we can go...

      @@bigskybluewaters that’s awesome. Alaska sounds like a legit place to take her! How did the cold stand up to the boat? Did y’all insulate extra?

      We used a mr. Buddy propane heater. We also installed a bus heater under the navigation table. When the engine is running it heats the water and moves the air through the heater. The propane heater made the air moist. After three months we were getting a bit of mold inside the boat. If we were to stay in that area for long periods of time we would have installed a Dickinson heater.

    Did you step the mast or have to hire a rigger? Really good info in the video

      Hey, thank you Jeff. We did step the mast ourselves at Cap Santa Marina. They have an area in the corner that has a crane out on the end of the dock. You have to plan this at the right tide for your boat. It is skinny water but you also need to have room for the crane. I believe that one time we did this we were maxed out on the lift. They also have another crane on the opposite side of the marina. However, the water is rougher and the approach and surroundings were not as good for us. I believe that the use of the crane was like $5-15 an hour or half hour. Very cheap either scenario. You will also have many onlookers that can help you out with their opinions of what you should do!

    What a great video! I have a couple of questions. How long is the trailer? Is your truck a dully? I want to trailer a 28' 7000lbs to Florida from Coeur d'Alene.

      The truck is a Dodge 1 ton, not a dually. We have sold the trailer since, but we believe it was about 26 ft long. It was a double axle. It didn't handle the boat well so we had another axle added in between to handle the load.

    I’m interested in how you designed the trailer. Looks like you used boat stands? I’m looking to trailer a 46 foot mono hull 10 miles. I think I’d need to hire a big truck with a low boy trailer. What can you tell me about how you fixed the stands to the trailer? Did you think the same could be done on a low boy trailer? Did you have some help with the design. Lots of questions.

      Hello Glen, thanks for your interest in our video. We bought the trailer used in Seattle. It came just the way that you see it. The only modifications that we did to it is to cut down a couple of the stands as they were to high for our boat to rest on it. Also our weight on the trailer, as you saw, was 18,000 pounds. We were too heavy for the trailer axle limits so we had an axle added. Towing after that was a lot easier. We had rented out our trailer a couple of times to folks around our marina. Perhaps you could go to a marina near you and pose to question on their comment/posting board. Good luck!

    This is an outstanding video and you guys did a great job on transporting your sailboat. I have a 1977 Shock 30 and a trailer but may have to modify it to fit her right. What type of permits did you have to apply for transporting the sailboat? My Sailboat is in the water and I have to get her out to work on her.

      Thank you George, we used a company called Mercury permits. We paid them and they got all the permits for us for every state. Because we were under 12 ft we did not need a pilot car which makes the process a lot more simple.

    Do you still have the trailer? What would you charge to drive a 320 from Santa cruz ca to Anacortez?

    • @bigskybluewaters
      @bigskybluewaters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, we sold the trailer two years ago and then sold our 320, Firefly last year. We purchased a 40 foot bluewater boat to do longer sailing Facebook @ Big Sky Blue Waters
