Just want to reiterate, I misspoke when I said Firewall coined the “FTK”. It certainly didn’t 🫠
Also yes, Prank-Kids did top 16 YCS Chicago, however for a YCS winning deck, it fell off the face of the earth in terms of the competitive meta-game and still was a rogue pick either way. But props to another rogue warrior for making the deck work.
Now enjoy the video :)
maybe it coined the FTK only in Yu-Gi-Oh (pay no attention to the Exodia behind the curtain) and not in other games like MtG?
@@Jolfgard Magical Scientist was FTK'ing kids in YuGiOh 14 years before Firewall Dragon existed.
@@WomenRespecter9000Channel Fireball was FTKing kids before yugioh cards existed
In that case why not do the upset of dragon link at french nationals, the 60 card one with borreload furious which won the event,it was even pure without adventure cards
The way you set this up I thought Jeremy Lin himself was gonna win the Yugioh tourney.
fr
Hahaha I was like "What did I just find?!..."
@@timothyward1122same
He's a youtuber, what are you expecting?
was very confused at the opening i cant lie.
"People are really reading all the cards"
*Rikka wins Euros 2 years in a row
That deck has too much cards idk
I play against them like 10 times and I still have no idea what any of them does lol
Yugioh playerbase has some of the dumbest people in it. I also believe that the average IQ of yugi andys is somewhere around 75
@@akes9793 rikka tributing just goes over most protection most of the modern cards have
It seems the only out to Rikka is “draw the out, featuring background removal”
Please make a video on YCS Hartford! First YCS since the lockdown won by an Australian who not only booked the wrong plane ticket, didn’t fill out his visa correctly and nearly didn’t go and the crazy top 8 match where Poe top decks Raye against punk adventure when he gets hit with token collector on hornet drones!
😳
Oh wow. Jojo follows competitive YGO.
@@cleanseroftheworld More than that, JoJo has YCS Tops.
That’s my goat
@@PhyYuGiOh and a yugioh youtube channel. Shit crazy.
Did houses of champs eat his words?
Incredible content and good work. Dinh-Kha winning with Prank Kids was such a shock but he is such an incredible player and deck builder
The best to ever do it TBH man's created so many decks on his own
Honestly, as a casual player who's not interested in competitive Yu-Gi-Oh, your story-telling abilities and video structure made this a very interesting watch. Would love to see more...
I other words, he pulled a real-world Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters move. In the OG anime/manga, the characters didn't exactly always know what their opponents' cards did. Nice.
Yacine Sahli’s trap cyber dragon deck was a huge
moment in yu-gi-oh for me. It wasn’t the fact that the deck wasn’t popular at the time. But it was reinvented and played in such a different and inventive way but was still amazing, and it’s one of my favorite things to see. It will never be as big as this upset. But it is still very cool.
YES, Cyber Dragon Trap is probably my favorite unexpected Yugioh moment. It was interesting because while most other Trap decks were threatened by Orcust using Zeroborus, Cyber Dragons had their Megafleet plays to mitigate it.
It was so cool. I made that deck shortly after and not only was it a suprising deck, but it was one of the most fun and simple decks to play as well. I’m forever sad about the new master rule lowkey nerfing that deck. My goal in yugioh is to make a deck like that one day
You should do a video on the YCS in 2010 when Frazier Smith won with Gravekeepers and all the history and crazy stuff that went into making the stars align that day. That is probably the single biggest upset in YCS history.
This. Not only that, they had 3 Teammates in the top 4 of that YCS with the same deck nobody saw comming. I think that this is easily the bigger upset.
@@YGO_Renaissance we're not even talking about the time hero beat, dark world and chaos piper made top 4 at ycs long beach in dino rabbit format?! that top 4 may have saved yu-gi-oh!
@@YGO_Renaissance yeah thats part of the history I'd like to see discussed because its so insane. Like they took all the prize cards from the main event too, its insane 😂😂
Fantastic video! This style of video documentary is something the Yugioh community has really lacked. I've watched Rhystic Studies and Jon Corpora cover MtG Esports for years and always wanted that polished, narrative style covering YGO. Cheers and keep up the good work!
great video, I like how you explain things pretty indepth so someone like me who hasn't played yu gi oh in a while can understand
Dinh Kha's deck profiles are always great. His lab list from Bologna looked insane. I was questioning why even play Arias in furniture lab until he showed up with trap tricks of all things, absolutely genius!
These history videos are so fun to listen to. Yugioh history is interesting, but often i dont see anyone covering stuff like "the biggest left field ycs win" and the like. Im sure theres def a larger audience for these presentation style videos
This video is so good, it makes me really wanna watch more content explaining professional yugioh events
Meow Meow seriously deserves to be unbanned. And bring it back to atleast 2 in MD. If Tears can still have Kitkallos Prank Kids should have 2 Meow Meow.
You wanna limit your field spell, ban rocksies and semi limit everything else go ahead 😂
Tear has kit but lost basically everything else
R opinion spotted
It’s at 2 in the OCG and nothing happens.
OCG got maxx c we dont
Honestly a great video man. Love seeing videos that involve the history of the game, not just the cards themselves, but also the most important part, the players. 👍🏻 good job
This is the first video on your channel that I stumbled upon, and I must say I love the editing. The level of hard work put into this video is admirable!
Keep up the good work!
To add some extra context to prank kids, the deck did not release with rocksies. It was just the water fire and wind guys. It got rocksies early in soul fusion special edition which helped the deck massively.
I wish They got more to Play with. When I got my OCG set I found it odd that the 2 Bosses were like a Dollar each
bro your vids started being recommended to me couple days ago, DUDE this is what I wanted to see for YEARS. A well edited Yu Gi Oh! docs, good stuff, definitely subscribing.
Firewall coining the term "FTK" was hilarious to hear
Meh it was more of a misspeak, but eh it’s funny either way
I guess
Wow, great video, really excellent coverage of an interesting subject! Kudos to you, sir!
I was playing Sky striker during this format and it literally felt like the only thing that always had a CHANCE of winning
You popped off with this one ngl, as an old player returning it’s cool to hear about these stories :)
The risk of rain music in the background, This is a crossover I never knew I needed, yugioh history breakdowns with risk of rain music
Link-1 Miow-mu at
1: At least make it limit, every deck deserve a consistent opening if they can.
2: This will make the deck is more agrresive, because you can double board wipe with no worries.
3: This will be dominant again.
.
Either limit or semi-limit, this will give a different impact to their play style. And I think it is still balance for the game.
Absolutely not, Meow-mu could be 4 and I would be surprised if Prank-kids were anything beyond Rogue. Simply because, what is the Prank-kids end-board? An one-sided board wipe and probably 2 or 3 hand-traps? If that was enough for a deck to be dominant Vanquish Soul would be tier 0. Sure, Meow-mu gives it a consistent 1 card combo, but that combo is both interruptable and low-impact, so it should go to 3
I am only a collector and have never been to a locals - these videos are done so well that even I can understand and enjoy them. Keep it up!
Bro I genuinely think you and MBT are the best yugitubers! Keep going!
Interesting as always. I feel like dinka has cemented himself as one of the best deckbuilders if not the best in the game. He’s able to effortlessly bring unknown strategies and use his skill to top with them.
One reason Borreload taking Colossus or Titan was such an important play in Prank Kids is that Fansies is also a Thunder monster, which provides fuel for their protective effects, making it that much harder for the Thunder Dragon player to recover.
Not sure why this was just playing on my phone when I set it down but good video amigo. You got a follow, sir. One critique/suggestion though, maybe lower the volume a smidge on the background music to make it more subtle rather than competing with you.
The Risk of Rain soundtrack really makes the video perfect.
I have never played this game back in the day. I fon't know much about it currently.
Still your presentation and pacing has me binge watching this series. Fantastic work.
Awesome video and I love what you’re doing for the game!
Feel obligated to point out Kha’s feature loss vs Gem-FTK was to Vlad aka Hypnocorn who is notorious as an insanely encyclopaedic, mad tech-genius guy, so Kha got paired against maybe the person with the highest chance of knowing what Prank-Kids did in the whole tourney lmao
Shoutout Vlad the madman
I love prank kids and thank you for this video cuz i forgot how cool they are. Please bring back meow😭
You sure the greatest upset wasn't Mystic Mine Sky Striker?
That deck single handedly sweeped Swordsoul Format
i miss playing pranks. getting back into the game after 10 plus years when md came out and climbed to top rank with pranks before the killed the deck. fell out of love with the game again shortly after
I play a watered down version of pranks on MD still just because it's a fun strat. I don't play often though
By far my favorite type of yugioh content. Keep up the great work!
I really like your videos. You have a very good vocabulary and such a distinctive way over speaking. It's captivating.
Thank you Lucas!
The RoR2 music in the background at the beginning of this video, another great game.
Great video! It's a really nice watch.
Bit nitpicky, but I think you used the picture Top 8 from YCS Utrecht at 16:04 instead of the YCS Milan one. Granted using a picture from the event he got 2nd place with BA, doesn't really invalidate how good Dinh-Kha is at utilising under the radar strategies.
Lmao the Linsanity intro is so fire. As a Knicks fan and a yugioh player this spoke to me lmao
I only play on master duel but prank kids is one of my favorite decks. Its an underrated strategy but "pranks" is such a fitting name 😂😂 apparently the best way to control the board is to keep clearing it 😂
12:35
Thanks for the foregone conclusion. When it wasn't a good deck, it didn't top, let alone win the tourney. That's how definitions work.
Really love the history great video! Learning how to properly combo a deck/ play to its full potential, has always been the most fun and difficult part of the game. Major respect for being the first ❤
Loved the video, great job!!! 😊
Because of the intro i thought this was gonna be explaining how my favorite NBA player (also a good friend of mine in highschool; during my freshman year at least) became a godlike yugioh player. Wtf was that intro? Lmao
This reminds so much of when that one dude took Mega Audino to a Pokemon TCG World Championship
love this type of videos. Reminds me of the apex comp video essays.
i appreciate you listing all the music u use
Man I love your conten. It’s great it’s so high quality keep it up
When that risk of rain 2 music hits, I just start vibing with the video.
I was so surprised hearing 3klicksphilips sax offender as the background music. Audio crime 2 is really better than expected
Well made documentary. I enjoyed it. Thanks
This channel is definitely a fan of summoningsalt
Andres Toro is my idol with Obaldia. Good to see him remembered.
i just finished listening to RoR2’s soundtrack just to click on this video and hear the music again 😮💨
I found success in the deck at the same time and after Dink all the way up to the salamangreat structure release. I made top 16 at ycs Chicago early 2019 and 2 ppgs in late 2018 (one being before ycs Milan) and one more in 2019.
Didn't have too much success after link 1 besides winning an LCS during covid.
I did peep that list ;) you were one of the few who made it work even after it was a known quantity
The amount of work put into this vid shows 🔥💯
Sick video. Thank you for the content. The video was so nice that i tought about to buy a prank kids core for casual games 😂❤
Incredible content. Your videos are unreal when it comes to quality
Raphael Neven winning YCS Chicago with Lunalight in February 2019 where the meta is Thunder Dragon and Sky Striker shares a similar story
The quality of this channel is unmatched. Get this man to 100k subs holy
Big up that risk of rain soundtrack right at the start
Yu-Gi-Oh + Sports + Dramatic Storytelling + Risk of Rain Music in the intro?
Take your Sub how did I not know about this channel.
26:33 all you have to do is make another one if they imperm or veiler(sure you cant add the spell/trap) but you can still add back from gy(and you can send the fusion spell with fansies) so it does near nothing.
It doesnt do near nothing, it forces you to have drawn the Pandamonium
@@SatanicWren you just send it with fansies and add it it back with doodle
@@SatanicWren this is not true i say in my comment above that you just send it with the green prank kid
Not me tuning into a YGO video hearing Sky Meadow music from RoR2 LMAO. If I watch this whole video and an elite Parent doesn't spawn behind me and oneshot me, consider this video blessed
I think the story of Eu2022 where rikka won its first event it's worth telling too.
Love the Summoning Salt esk style of editing!
“He played against *a gem knight ftk player*… you mean Vlad/Hypnocorn? One of the more successful duelists of all time with over a dozen tops and also an editor for a large amount of the yugitubing landscape? 🤣
I love how goofy the Prank Kid card names are
This video is awesome. I would love to see more stories about past ygo competitive formats.
At my locals people would complain that the only reason I'd win consistently was because I'd keep changing decks every week or two for bad decks
Funny thing, me and my cousin who also plays Yu-Gi-Oh saw that prank kids will be the meta buster that year. No one ever bothered reading it and never saw how abusive the deck really is. I actually used it against my friends though we don't have locals at that time.
I would like to thank you for this video because I could, for the first time in my yugituber consummer life, understand what was happening.
Very cool video with excellent production 👌
I build this deck when it came out and quite yugioh soon after. I’m happy to hear it did well lol
Love this format of video for YGO. Was thinking of doing a couple myself in a video essay format but tbh I don't wanna jack your idea now lmaoooo. Anyway YCS Long Beach 2012 :)
insane as always 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🫡🫡🫡🫡
If only I could upload like this every week lol
Beautiful video 🤍
Great content dude, seriously. Keep up the good work.
Players like Dinh-kha Bui and Pak are really good at metacalling the best deck
great video bro keep it up definitely earned my subscribe
Simply proves that he was and still is one of the best pilots ever
Prank Kids is one of my favorite decks, so them topping any YCS is a win in my book!
The 3kliksphillip music is based, love hearing it in random content haha
As someone who put this video in the background as I cooked something, the first time I heard Dinh's full name I thought that it was an alias or nickname, as it sounded like Dink Kabooey, a la Bomb-Voyage.
As a Knicks fan this actually hits home HAHA, great vid :)
GOAT
Yu-Gi-Oh players started reading cards? Maybe at the YCS level, but don't expect it at locals or online. I'm reminded of when I KoG'd with the Golden Castle of Stromberg in Duel Links in 2020. The amount of players that tried attacking only for the castle to destroy their monsters was embarrassing.
The imagery you use for 'grind game' is actually someone cutting.
Very high quality content which you don't see much on yugi content.
Love your video bro ❤️ Prank-kid For Life!
5 min in and loving the editing and music great job!
I love these yugi informative vids
Bro I love your content you’re voice and tone are amazing for yugioh please keep pushing
Of course it’s vlad aka hypnocorn that’s like “oh yeah I have this deck in my bag rn”
If you haven't already. A video about the blue eyes mirror match at world finals would be neat.
There you are! Happy new year. Another great video!
I haven’t played since a kid I collect a little but this video got me hyped
The fact that people didnt know what prank-kids did mirrors exactly how i got to Master with D/D/D in MD.
So many big boss monsters and they would only know what 3-4 of them did. and that was usually the generic ones from the anime. Especialy great for the Link monster. It would set 2 pendulum cards from ur deck in the zones for 1k LP. And when destroyed you can summon ANY EXTRA DECK CARD.
I cannot express just how many people did not read the last part of the effect, and would end up scooping as soon as they destroyed it.
Playing Rogue decks is ofcourse not the best strategy, there is a reason they are rogue decks. But man, when people dont know what a deck does, You instantly gain an INSANE advantage, And if you can keep some cards in the back for round 2 or 3... Your opponent would sit there scratching their heads and reading cards for so long they are just wasting time.
