They always talk about the improvements the Celtics made but not on this clip. But you are though Brad Stevenson had to make a decision, continue with Marcus smart at the point guard spot and hope your 2 stars decide to show up or just say I’m done depending on them and improve the roster so it doesn’t come to that.

The reason why he's still got as many shots up as his regular season and had the opportunities to miss is because he alongside the rest of the Celtics stepped up on the defensive end and were able to get things done. Would you like for him to make those shots? Of course, but you can't act like getting extra possessions because he was good on defense is not a plus to him

If "under performing" while leading one of the best elite teams in the major statical categories (points, rebound and assist) gets you an NBA championship then who is really gonna care when it's all said and done. Luke played well enough and looked like a Finals MVP caliber player but who's gonna remember that in 5 years? Also they're looking at Tatum's sacrifices as if they only come in the form of taking less shots? He was willing to take on the defensive assignment of both Gafford and Lively. You could say of that's an much easier assignment but outside of Lebron how many other superstars would be willing to defend outside of their natural position? A lot of his miss shots came at expense of attacking the rim when DAL made an emphasis to have multiple defenders in the paint. It was only a matter of time before Tatum started using that to his advantage, driving to the basket only to kick it out to the open man on the wing, corner or dunker spot. I say all to say that under performing might be too strong of a word to describe Tatum's performances in these playoffs.

Jayson Tatum is getting double teamed. He has to pass the ball or he will be taking a bad shot selection. Jalen Brown is great though. The NBA Finals is all about matchup. Kobe show that in the 2004 finals by forcing a bad shot. It hurt the team in transition.

Tatum 3 straight 1st teams defines top 5 and he's already in the top 50-60 players of all time with his incredible resume with a historic statistical run and a legendary close out game 5 breaking CELTICS records 30 and 11 dimes which had never been done before. Embiid is a zero impact player despite his bloated stats. Least impactful player in the league of stars, whereas Tatum is the most durable and another level in terms of impact. Davis has had serious injury issues throughout his career (give him credit for this year, but ATM that’s an abnormality), Gets picked on when dragged out of the paint against elite guards and wings, and is more ball dependent. Sure he’s a better, not significantly better, rebounder and elite paint defender, but he’s top 15-10. He’s has zero place around the top 5. Tatum is sure fire top 10, with some arguments for top 5.

AD has rarely been the best laker, has rarely been healthy (credit for this year), and gets picked on in space when guarding elite wings and guards. He has rebounding which isn’t even that a big a difference since Tatum himself is a very good rebounder, and he has elite shot blocking. Everything else Tatum is either equal or better.

Box score watchers being exposed this year. Bad shooting doesn't mean bad performance. Tatum's shooting was off all playoffs, however he is drawing the double every time, his playmaking has elevated to elite, his rebounding is very good, his defense is elite, people don't realize the reason the lob threat was neutralized because of Tatum. He's not better than Joker, Giannis and Luka but he is clearly top 5.

Tatum had the better team. If you put Shai on boston they would win , if you put Tatum on OKC they don’t😂. Shai was the better player, Tatum was still decent, but he also benefited from having a great team and there’s nothing wrong with that.
