You really want to talk defense. Ok. Lebron finished top 5 in defensive player of the year 5 times. Kobe, who was on twelve all defensive teams, finished in the top 5 for defensive player of the year three times. Lebrons first three times getting defensive player of the year votes where he finished twice in the top 5 and once top 10 coincided with Kobes last three times receiving votes in which he finished outside of the top 10 each time. On top of all this, the GM surveys taken each year had Lebron ranked ahead of Kobe starting in the 2006-2007 season. For the next 13 years, they had Lebron finishing first as the projected MVP 11 times. KD was the leader in votes those 2 years in that 13 year period. Lebron also was chosen 8 times as the player the GM's selected as the guy they would like to build their franchises around. The NBA publications rank Lebron as the 2nd greatest, while Kobe cracks top 5 twice and doesn't make top 10 a couple of times as well. On top of all this, when the atheletic asked 133 present players who the goat is MJ received 45% of the vote, Lebron received 42% and Kobe received 9% of the vote. In my top 20 list, he finishes 10th. I personally believe you can't ride the bench in your first year. You also have to be scoring in your twenties your first year in the league and you should be averaging 25 ppg by your second year.
Look at this cope. Why did you not mention the all defence teams? You list top 5 finishes for dpoy? What a joke. Oh and ask Lebron who the best player was in 2006-7-8-9-10. You know the answer. Kobe. The guy who challenged lebron 1 v 1 on the last play of an all star game, only for lebron to fucking pass!!! Even in a all star game, he didnt want the smoke. Hes such a poser. The players all have kobe over lebron. That fucking super team jumping loser. Who makes super teams and goes 4-6 in the finals?

But I don’t think you mentioning handles is a big deal because they both made plays effectively as a whole. Also better layup and dunk package may be true but it’s not as big of a deal as the other points you made given that LeBron is just flat out better from 0-3 feet.

If you want to find the most skilled players, look at the shorter, weaker, slower, can't jump players in the league. They could never survive without superior skill, bc they lack in all the important "athletic traits" for a basketball player. Kobe was quick, somewhat tall (compared to other guards), good vertical, long arms, and big hands. Yes he was very skilled compared to most of the league, but he's not on the level of someone like Nash who is short, and not explosive for his size. He's probably not the most skilled though. Just someone that lacks most of the important bball athletic traits I can think of.
The fact that anybody's questioning Kobe not taking the hardest assignment every night means you're not watching basketball. "He only played TMac twice a year" yeah dog for how many years. It’s pretty simple if you ask me. Kobe is clearly better at the POA. He was a hound and one of the best ever during the early 2000’s. Lebron is the better help defender as he’s switchable as anyone ever. He can’t guard 1-5 for a whole game but he can do it for some possessions at a high level and can completely blow up a teams action on his own. His physical ability allowed him to plug many holes his teammates might’ve left in the defense. Which skill set you value more is completely up to you but I think team defenders can impact the game in more ways since they’re guarding the floor rather than just one guy most of the time.

Yes he has wtf. Do your research before you hate and learn to comprehend. No one is saying he’s a lockdown defender in every position. The point is that if Lebron was to switch on 1-5 we will feel comfortable and confident with him doing it more than 99% of players in nba history. He’s guarded players Steph, Drose, Harden, Oladipo, Kd, Giannis Murray, Duncan, Kg, Dwight, Paul Pierce, Gasol, Draymond, Jokic, Roy H, Kawhi, Westbrook and etc. All of these players he has successfully guarded them in crucial moments numerous times.
Kobe. Utimately LeBron had more responsibilities than Kobe on either side of the ball. Being a better help defender also means he had a better overall affect on the defense regardless. He also had tougher perimeter competition, because there were more shooters to account for.
Kobe in 2000 to 2004 only has one, MAYBE two, to consider at any time because they were more defensive only guards and wings back then.
Look at all the best teams of the last 10 years ... perimeter shooting is at a different stratosphere compared to when Kobe was at his defensive peak. Kobe never had to see insane shit, like a Jokic-Murray two man game.
Marz got tricked into talking about defensive names in eras by Ron. He cooked, but that wasn't even the debate. Even then, despite him bringing up all the shit I said above about shooting in previous videos (like taking away the corner 3 to shrink the floor), he never brought up the difference in perimeter shooting LeBron had to account for vs what Kobe dealt with.
Then even if Kobe was a better on-ball defender, it wasn't by a lot (cuz LBJ is a really good on-ball defender), whereas Kobe was a shit off-ball defender compared to LeBron. So overall, LBJ had a much bigger impact on either side of the court than Kobe.

Just because bron plays a little different especially when it comes to passing and what not, means nothing when it comes to the role they played for their teams, which is and has always been the same.
Lmao shooting is all you have to worry about now 😂😂😂😂 Lmao who getting to the rack from the 3 now only a select few. All shooting barely any skill in today's NBA.
Man it be the clowns that make anybody that speaks positive of LeBron look crazy. Saying Bron is more skilled than Kobe is WILD!
Marz was cooking 🧑🍳
I can’t remember anybody dropping 60 on lebron.. let alone a point guard at that 🫣
Cause he wasn’t gon guard em for 60 minutes
Trying to accuse a guy of not being better because he had no defensive moments then can’t find ONE defensive for the guy you say is better is HILARIOUS. This was not the best look Ron😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣
Kobe wasn’t 9x All defensive 1st team for nothing
@@Sagittariusking-k9p You’re a very strong man for moving the goalposts like that😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣
@@dukebaylocksI seen him get stops on Melo I seen him guard wade full court I seen him guard bron and I even seen him shut him down in the all star game. I seen him stop kd a few times like be fr. Individual Kobe could defend. Lebron literally lost finals because “HIS” man not nobody else’s won mvp and couldn’t be stopped while lebron trying to show yall offensively he can stuff the stat sheet that’s what happened against golden state. So focused on keeping his own numbers good he took away from his team and kd ran around doing whatever he want. And mfs said it was because they doubled Steph. Well lebron man took it home for the warriors and averaged a 50/40/90 while he averaged a triple double and barely got one win lol 😂obviously that wasn’t even helping them to win gotta play defense BRON
So your comparing consistency to one or two moments in a players career you are hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@reggp1 I didn’t compare anything SIR. Nice try tho😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣
Why didn't anyone bring up kobe having the most defensive all team selections by a guard. Way more selections than bron. That would have ended it
Kobe ain’t guard Ai at all lol
Kobe is 5x more skilled than Lesteroid James. 💯

So if the LEGARBAGE was a GREAT defender why did he stick Dirk nowitzki in a 2011 NBA finals😂😂😂😂😂
ron said it right A CHASEDOWN MERCHANT
Kobe is very skilled he became very skilled through his insane work ethic
Kobe indeed is way more skill then lebron it’s not even close
Man the conversation of lebron being the best defensive player in the league is a bs narrative pushed by media not cosigned by actual players
Kobe is easily more skilled. LeBron is just stronger, bigger, and faster than him. If Kobe had LeBron's body, he would easily be way better than LeBron.
Saying LeBron is more skilled than Kobe is almost like saying Shaq is more skilled than Steve Nash imo. Like yes, Shaq via strenght/body size is way more dominant, but in terms of raw skills, Nash clears.
Kobe better than lebron 💯💯💯..kobe is the goat 🐐🐐

Lebron is a 1.5 level scorer.

I don’t understand why with defense, ppl just talk about 1v1 defense, guarding 1-5, defense accolades, and just simply “he guarded him”. Like what about point of attack, team defense, being able to read passing lanes, deflections, weak side rim protection, how teams have different defensive schemes and how that player is used for it, how players aren’t normally gonna be as good as another player at a defense task/speciality do to their position or the complete opposite of that??? Just saying he guarded him the whole game or he guards multiple positions isn’t really saying nothing. Every player is guarding another player and there are other players who guard multiple positions too but what exactly are they doing to make the player their guarding less effective on offense and how well do they guard multiple positions?
Lebron never guarded all 5 positions. He has that 1 clip where he guards gasol for a possession.
Right they need to stop these pf and centers give lebron work
LBJ has never been able guard 1-5. I'm from IND. I remeber they tried to put him on David West. He absolutely killed LBJ!!!
Draymond and Scottie Pip are the only other 2 that can do that. But Scottie never played against guards like Steph, Rose and Harden. Draymond plays with Steph and didn’t experience prime d rose. So Bron is probably one of the best.
@@CatoProduction you wrote all of that to say absolutely nothing!!! You are correct there is research and data to be done. Research shows LBJ gaurding strictly either the point postion or the 5 postion has taken up less then 3% of his total career minutes combined!!!
Almost everybody is NBA history has got matched up with another postion on switches and screen.
By numbers and data Jrue Holiday has guarded 4s and 5s more then LBJ has and has been more successful as the primary defender. Nobody speaks on him. I can name others also. Smart, Kidd, AK47, Artest, Allen, KG, etc.
@@CatoProductionlebron can't even guard Jason Terry 😂😂😂. LeBron defense trash 🗑️🗑️🗑️

Kobe was never really that great of a defender, he was very early in his career but Kobe's defense fell off a cliff starting around 03-04.
Kobe might be one of the most overrated defenders of all time.
Only real argument Kobe has is footwork and post game but im sure everyone wants to call the “mamba mentality” a skill 🤣
people really dont know how to discuss skill
He’s a better midrange shooter, free throw shooter, post scorer, iso scorer, perimeter defender, ball handler
@@nv3095Thank you. Bron just bigger and more athletic. Besides “passing” he has no other skills that’s better than Kobe.
Handles, post game, his layups way more creative, his in game dunks way more creative, his foot work, his on ball defense. His ability to create a shot off the dribble was better. You can’t be fr

Lebron is quite literally the most versatile player oat. Versatility = skill. Lebron can do everything Kobe does and more
Kobe is more "clutch" than LeBron James.. Even tho LeBron has the most career playoff buzzer-beaters in NBA history with 3 walk-off playoff 3 point shots 😊
Objectively speak this is extremely fallacious. In one second of a playoffs game LeBron james is 7/12, in the Last 10 Mvp including Kobe bryant is 6/50, LeBron James is light years better than Kobe Bryant in the last 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 24 seconds, 30 seconds and min in a Playoffs game. In elimination games, Eliminating opponents and Game 7s LeBron James is light years better than Kobe Bryant in those situations which are clutch moments when your back is against the wall. It's not even a close argument in the playoffs. Regular season you have a better chance.
@@simplecleaning4296he agrees with u
@imbetter14 Thanks I read it so fast lol.
@simplecleaning4296 and yet why does he fail when the marbles are on the line
@Threezus17 Please stop with the lackluster narrative. We tend to put outrageous expectations on LeBron james and not the same expectations on others players. Kobe Bryant has been atrocious throughout his Finals appearances but his teams win inspire his bad play. Larry bird was a good Finals performer but he wasn't Great in Finals appearance especially with one of the highest pace decades. Wilt was not great throughout his Finals appearances compared to the regular season. I can tell you about ever consensus top 10 player and I can guarantee that other than Michael Jordan LeBron James has out played them throughout the playoffs history.
More effective and more skilled are two different things. But using your physical abilities effectively is also a skill
