If LeBron James doesn’t completely crumble in the 2011 finals Dwyane Wade would be looked at in higher regard. There’s no way Dirk is historically better. That series completely changed nba history.

@@zachspath494 Dirk may have been a bad defender, but the reality is, is that he took his teams further with less help and played in a superior conference for his entire career. Sure, Wade won a chip, but he had Shaq that year who dominated when he came back from injury up until the Finals. That 2011 chip clears any chip that Wade won with his super squad, he had more accolades, all NBA's with the PF position being one of the deepest positions during his time, was better in the playoffs, was a better shooter, scorer and rebounder. IF GM's had to build their team and those two players were the one's they had to build it around, most are taking Dirk over Wade.

I think the narrative of him learning how to win from Wade is overblown. The most important thing was the front office surronding him with a great squad and Spo is a good coach. Combine that with the fact that Wade got hurt and wasn’t himself which significantly lowered lowered their chances of winning that 3rd title. Also add in the fact that they aren’t a good mesh with each other bc their games are somewhat similar. Both are optimally ball dominant players who are best driving to the rim and can play make for their team. Lebron pairs with someone like Ray Allen I. Their prime or Klay Thompson and that helps open up the paint for bron, gives him a huge offensive catch and shoot guy. Okay also adds so really good defense and Ray adds some solid shot creation of his own when bron needs to rest. I would like to believe that scottie help MJ become a better playmaker and defender, it's not a coincidence that MJ peek playmaker and defense was when scottie came on to the scene.
Not saying scottie taught him but made MJ reflect on himself saying "so that's how I can improve my team and my game"

I agree with Wade being more important, but I disagree with Wade teaching Lebron how to be a leader. Lebron has always been a leader, he was a leader while he was in high school winning chips. Lebron managed to lead the Cavs to the NBA finals before he went to the Heats, so it wasn't like he was being bounced out of the 1st round of the playoffs every year. Wade taking a backseat to Lebron in Miami is different from him teaching Lebron on how to be a leader. Now another interesting debate I would like for y'all to have is... What if Detroit had the number 1 overall pick instead of the Cavs. How would that scenario impacted Lebron legacy 👀
