    This program reminds me of a special I saw on PBS about 15 years ago with Dr. Michael Mezenich. It was discussed how an adult had a stroke and lost a lot of his brain power. Couldn't walk or function at all. Instead of putting him in a nursing home bed ridden. His son a neurologist trained him like a newborn baby. He crawled all over his backyard.(the neighbors were horrified) He leaned how to talk again and eventually fully function. It took a lot of time and a lot of work. After he died a brain examination showed that most of his brain was non functional. That taught me about brain plasticity and how how we can recover things that we thought were gone forever,

    I have Cerebral Vasculitis. I had a cluster of TIA, and a big stroke that left me hemi paralyzed, 14 years ago. I recently began to ramp up my physical therapy ( I had enough in hospital to get me mobile then stopped ) your videos have helped me a LOT. I've been walking for years, but I dragged my affected leg for years and I had horrible sciatica in my compensation leg. Ever since going back to the gym and repeatedly doing exercises on my affected leg, my pain is diminished significantly and my confidence is boosted so much.. so thank you for making these videos. It helped wake me up from my complacency slumber.. for 14 years I accepted I wouldn't be able to be physically fit again, I've already stumped all my doctors who didn't expect Me to live past 25 because my damage was so bad to being 14 years in remission and 14 years stroke free and 6 years med free this year. Now I can add walking normal to that !

    These exercises are really essential....I do them with my patients and I combine them with arm activities.....I am an OT ;-) Thank you very much for your videos. They give me the security to be on the right way....and to offer a good quality therapy for my stroke patients, as most of the PT in my area love just doing massage....

    Thank you very much for the thematically and weight-wise exercises. It's good to remember the basics. After warming up, it's easier to raise the level according to your capabilities. Pdf is also practical for a brief overview.
    Happy Mother's Day and have a great week.

    Great videos. It might be useful to know what we should expect to be able to achieve according to what stage of recovery we are in. If we are in stage two (for eg) it might be unrealistic to expect to be able to do press-ups, but in stage 4, yes.

    Equipment Question: What is the wall mounted track w/ carabiner for? I've watched your 'essentials' for a home gym. Do you have any ideas/recs for small-space-friendly exercises (eg utilizing walls)? The mat takes up so much of the space I have to work with.

    Hello did you hear about the hyperbar treatment to heal strokes ?

  • @natali487
    @natali487 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is interesting that I can not do the rotation from the back using my leg without sugnificant help of my arms. I wonder is it from my weak hips? Core weakness? I am walking but very unstedy. Balance, mild cordination and ataxia were caused by the removal of brain tumor 20 years ago. I recently learned from your channel that strong compensations are present in all my moves. I guess all I can do now is go to very basics and adress weakneses I did not address many years ago. It is so hard to know what to do first. Thank you for yor help and support! ❤

    • @rehabhqofficial
      @rehabhqofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @rehabhqofficial

      Thanks for watching and for the question! This might require an entire video but breifly, things that might be effective are to choose activities that incorporate something that is purposeful/meaningly to your mom; try adding music/dancing; activities that make her feel useful/helpful; add a diversion. I hope that helps!
