Jack Lawton boi, I know how the Marine corps is. It's not their fault they've become this way, they are getting better and better slowly but I'm not going to let short comings stop me from joining.
Cheesy as this may sound, but it's what I've wanted for all my life and the high school to college life where I work at some stupid office space wasting away my time doing something I don't love. The Marine corps however is what I WANT to be in, I don't have delusions of being a war hero that can anything. I know how the Marine life is but I look pass the short comings.
And I already know what these videos are for but I think you've heard to many myths if you believe recruiters have "recruitment quotas"

I am looking for some advice from anyone knowledgeable on my situation. I am heading to Paris island this coming August and my goal has always been special forces, specifically Force Reconnaissance. This is what I always wanted so I never gave it much thought. I am physically ready. All I need for a perfect score on the PFT is to drop 40 ish seconds off my 3 mile, so I feel confident about this aspect. However, after going to MEPS I got a 98 on my ASVAB and several servicemen have told me not to go into special forces because I am “too smart” and I will have no career after I get out.
If anyone has any knowledge about this subject, especially what one would do as far as a career after special forces, this future Marine would greatly appreciate it.
