It must have a major shock for them compared to what they saw on TH-cam! My youngest is a hard head and it was amazing to see the change at the end. It was great. He's been in since 2006 and he's really climbed the ranks much faster than those joining in the same class. I love him so much, and I'm so proud to be his mom!
My other son went to the recruiting place day after September 11th, and 13 days later (the 24th of September) he was on the bus to Parris Island to become a United States Marine. I was and still am, so proud to be his mom too! Boot camp was extremely tough, but they both made it and I'm so glad they're out there taking out the enemy, such brutal horrible people the enemy is. I'm so proud that they took the challenge and succeeded. So many have tried, but were let go. Crushing to them it must have been. Some went all of the way through boot camp, but were sent home the day before graduation. I think that's how they came up with their slogan
    The Few
    The Proud
    The Marines
Semper Fi to all of you that are Marines, and for all who will be entering boot camp, make sure to give it all that you can, so that you will earn the title and be awarded the Eagle Globe Anchor. Best to all of you, and thank you all who have, who are, and those that will be serving our country, protecting a nation of people that you have never met, but choose to protect. So deep the appreciation and gratitude for all of you, for putting your life on the line to protect us. Thank you. ❤ 🇺🇸 ❤ USA ❤ 🇺🇸 ❤

The man at 2:22 used to cut my hair. When I was a recruit, he would scrap along your scalp for it to hurt more, he would also yell at you if you were blocking the door way in the barber shop. After the crucible, we came back as marines, we went to get our high and tights, we was so nice and treated us with respect. Awesome man

@@fabiangonzalez6853 guards are the things you put on the clippers, they're usually black and they come in different sizes. They're used to trim hair down so you won't get a bald head. I have a high top, well sort off. It's growing taller and wider since I just get the sides cut instead of trimming the top down. Just search up Clipper Guards and then come back here and tell me if you seen them at the haircut station. I might just cut my hair down before I got so it won't be hard to cut my hair.

Graduated from there last Friday. From recruit to marine is the biggest transition in my life. It’s tough, very tough. My advice for you is that don’t go to medical for the smallest things, you’ll be known as a lazy person from your whole platoon and DIs. Be fast and sound off with some fucking volume and you’ll be fine.

Always a good laugh I went to boot camp in 1988. Still remember it well can still tell you my Drill instructors names. I was not well liked in boot camp but found my place after and made Sgt in 3 years and walk into the chow hall and one of my former Drill instructor’s is walking out and he looks at me and said holy shit... we talked for awhile and he said I guess we only get to see one perspective. Btw my honor guard who graduated 1 st went to jail and got busted to private and administratively separated. Being a kiss ass and talking a good game doesn’t make you a good marine. Remember that current and future drill instructors. For future marines it will be hard but you will get stronger and I have no regrets you will have plenty of time for life.

CN555 gaming ... Start preparing NOW!!! Hit the books, study hard, do lots of PT, and practice swimming a lot...
I heard on the news for the first time in decades the military failed to hit their recruitment goals this year, not because people aren’t signing up but because they aren’t physically fit enough or don’t meet the basic aptitude requirements to make it through boot camp.
      wjla.com/news/nation-world/why-the-us-military-is-on-the-brink-of-a-recruitment-crisis
      www.fitness.marines.mil/PFT-CFT_Standards17/

      www.thebalancecareers.com/usmc-enlisted-job-qualifications-and-asvab-scores-3345755
      www.jobtestprep.com/asvab-marines
      www.military.com/join-armed-forces/asvab/asvab-study-tips.html
Another tip since you are 2 years out... learn desirable skills that the corps doesn’t want to have to teach but are highly sought after and will get you more money... like a foreign language that is on the Department of Defense’s Strategic Language List. Being fluent in one of those foreign languages (or more than one) gets you a bump in pay.
      www.militaryrates.com/military-pay-incentives-flpp
The Marines do not hide what their targets are for various physical and intellectual skills. If you work your ass off trying to get as close as you can now to perfect scores on everything, then you will have no problem getting whatever MOS you really want to do.
Also, if you haven’t already, look to see if there are any Marine Corps Junior ROTC programs near you that you can join. It can help you get a taste for certain things like drill, uniform codes, codes of conduct, Marine Corps history, leadership exercises, etc. it can sometimes be a good primer for the “mindset” aspect, while you are also studying for your ASVAB, and training for your PFT/CFT
Work hard, never give up, always give 110%!!!

    • @agmsmith4079
      @agmsmith4079 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

CN555 gaming ... no worries! The only other advice I would give is to push yourself but be careful. Pay attention to your body and what it is telling you, you don’t want to tear an ACL or a rotator cuff before you even get in... you have two years... start at the end goals 2 years from now and work backward... and set small goals for yourself to achieve every month or two month... don’t just try to go from benching 90lbs to benching 300lbs in 4 months... or trying to go from running a mile to 6 miles in 2 month... work up to it...
I killed my knees trying to increase my running ability too fast... in 4 months I went from running 1/2 mile twice a week to running 6 miles 7 days a week...
Like with any PT you need to give your body time to rest, recover and build itself. A muscle can’t build more muscle on top of itself if you keep working and ripping up that muscle every day...
So make sure you do your PT the right way. Talk to a couple of personal trainers, read up on it online, etc.
And if you set realistic goals every month then you are less likely to hurt yourself.
And just as a suggestion... don’t set your goal to be the max listed on the PFT and CFT... try to go past the max by 20 or 30%. That should be your goal for 2 years from now... that way even if your having an off day or are sick, you’ll be able to kick ass on the PFT and CFT no problem. Oh and also realize you will probably lose some of your abilities during boot camp since you won’t have the exercise routine you did when you were out (you’ll prob be doing more cardio and less weight training in boot camp than you did before going in)... so if you try to overshoot the max by 30% or more in all the PT tests... by the end of boot camp you still hopefully be performing right up around the max.
So set your goals (how many push ups, pull ups, ammo can lifts, 1/4 mile time, 1mile time, etc) and the date you need to achieve those goals by before you go in.... then cut those goals in half, and go halfway between now and your end goal and put those goals down for that date... then cut that in half and put those goals down for those dates and so on... eventually you will have a road map of where you need to be every month to hit the end goal...
If you surpass it, great!!! Keep going and see how far ahead of it you can get. You could hit a plateau at some point and be stuck at a certain level for a bit and the goals catch back up to you. Or you stay ahead of them and you are even better off.
And you can do the same thing for academics too.
