Congratulations to Thomann and Kris . Kris was very well prepared, good interviewer. The video was well shot. I'm a Thomann customer since almost a decade ago exactly because of this, everything you do is done the best way you can and it shows ;) Thanks
I gave guitar lessons to John’s neighbor here in NY. Just a coincidence after a few years it came up in conversation. I asked my student to see if it was possible to get my guitar autographed - but never met him. I would love to meet him just to say thanks for the inspiration. He’s not only my life Guitar idol, but a classy guy that genuinely loves music and talking with people about instruments and has absolutely no EGO. When you’re that great, it’s hard not to. Not that I would know but there are tons of great players that are assholes. Thanks for all you do John.
Saw Dream Theater for the first time this tour and when John came out by himself and started playing The Dark Eternal Night introriff I crapped my pants. Holy fuck he is god.
MrDreamTheater2 its true, his voice isnt what it use to be. Everyone knows that, band members and fans. But its called being understanding. He's nearly 55 years old, the music is very hard to sing and plus the voice is an instrument that has a mind of its own sometimes. Add jetlag to a live show and its very challenging. I commend JLB for still trying his best. Many bands have the same problem, and their are many vocalists that have the same problems. But its called loyalty. Bands will do their best to be supportive to the singer because it is literally the hardest part of a live show. You dont have to listen to him if u dont like.
It was a joy to watch an interviewer have knowledge, passion and not go overboard with the fanboyism. JP here picked up on this awesome energy and both parties had a great time.
What a great sounding amp and what a mastery at play by Petrucci. I often wonder whether Malmsteen is making his own life unneccessarily hard with his old strat and those Marshall amps.
Awesome interview as part 1, but even more in depth about the real good stuff about his sound! I love Boogie sound even if I can't affort JP signature amp, but maybe one day.... Anyway it's great to see how John tweaks the amp to get each sound just right!
"Shred" is basically the Lead 2 RED channel of the Triaxis..which by the way it was called "Shred" there as well. A tad more aggressive and presence-y and a bit more tight than the 2C+...I LOVE THIS AMP!!!!!
Sick, watched part one yesterday and was bummed this wasn't up yet. Then boom, here it is today. The mid boost thing past noon did start on the baby Mk V. Killer interview, got to try some of his tips out now. \,,/
Dude, totally! He was my biggest guitar hero, like, forever! Haha! His playing and tone shaped my taste in high gain tones more than anyone else. This interview is definitely one of my favourite moments of my life. 🤩 Cheers! //Kris
Boogies are voiced with more mid than most amps. You can hear that his sound in this video actually has a lot of mids, even when scooped. if he does not scoop it, it will sound too "boxy", with too much middle. Also, if you notice when JP changed the mid in the clean channel it made the amp get more of a gritty clean sound. Mids are super potent in the Boogies in general. Other amps you can move the mid setting back and forth (even all the way through to max and min) and notice a change in the sound but not nearly as much as if you change the middle EQ in a boogie just a bit.
Next job - someone profile the amp with those settings! Nice stuff though - two great guys who know their stuff talking guitars and amps - who could complain?
Because one hour with Thomann would make all the difference? Yeah, the drums are poo now. Yes, LaBrie, live, is hit and miss, often miss. But that's more about Portnoy not being there than Petrucci having a signature amp.
MrDreamTheater2 Look, I share those gripes - but this isn't a hard hitting interview - it's just talking gear and there's some good info on how to get the best sounds out of a boogie.
Portnoy would never have tolerate those horrible mixes of the last three albums. Agreed with you on Labrie, but I think they can't change singer after losing their drummer without making the band explode. They should have change Labrie when Portnoy was on the ship, now it's too late
MrDreamTheater2 who's denying that LaBrie is getting worse? In reality, DT is creatively tired. Someone like Haken needs to step up, but their singer's weak and when they find a cool idea they just repeat it over and over.
This was a very good and necessary video to make. And I loved how your camera man zoomed into John's hands whenever John made changes to the amp's settings. However, it was apparent to me that John was really the one carrying this interview. I think the interviewer finally took the hint to get serious later on in the video but he was kind of slow to figure that out. Just a kind suggestion, whenever you are interviewing someone as high profile and world class as John Petrucci say as little as possible! Your job as the interviewer is to help guide the direction of the topics discussed, not to put yourself into the interview. Nobody at this point in your life wants or cares to listen to what you think or what your opinions are or hear your thoughts. You are supposed to be a fly on the wall. Remember this advice the next time you do a interview like this;)
JP is such a good player and person. My favorite Guitarist ever ! That dude is on another level of music sound.
Congratulations to Thomann and Kris . Kris was very well prepared, good interviewer. The video was well shot. I'm a Thomann customer since almost a decade ago exactly because of this, everything you do is done the best way you can and it shows ;) Thanks
Philipperodrigues Thanks so much for your support and kind words!

But why did u give lessons to sm1 who's JP's neighbor?
Antu chakraborty it was a coincidence he just happen to live across the street
That guy will never touch those knobs ever again 😂
12:40 When GOD plays nature's heavenly ballad of the transition of seasons and you get goosebumps all over your FRIGGIN' body.
12:02 When JP gives you that look and saying i don't wanna break up 😂
lmfao! Now I'm imagining he's the star of an 80s teen rom-com and he's delivering a pivotal line
.......THAT WAS HILARIOUS
I could sit and watch videos like this all day, awesome
Saw Dream Theater for the first time this tour and when John came out by himself and started playing The Dark Eternal Night introriff I crapped my pants. Holy fuck he is god.
MrDreamTheater2 Seriously... No one cares about your opinion of LaBrie, no matter how many times you plaster it on TH-cam
well millions love him so to splits with you're bs. I replied because I'm worth it *swings hair around in sexy manner*
MrDreamTheater2 what's up with your obsession?
MrDreamTheater2 could you be more narcissistic?
MrDreamTheater2 its true, his voice isnt what it use to be. Everyone knows that, band members and fans. But its called being understanding. I'll past that on to Kris!

John's sound is incredible!
No Part 3...because he start shredding and made the camera explode.
How do you know? 😅
Hell yeah
I love the fact that they are enjoying the conversation, the moment. This is more than just an interview
Kris is clearly having the time of his life as a DT fan. Glad we get to enjoy it as well. Cheers to both!
Oh absolutely! This was years ago but I'll never forget how awesome it was to chat with John. //Kris
What a great sounding amp and what a mastery at play by Petrucci. I often wonder whether Malmsteen is making his own life unneccessarily hard with his old strat and those Marshall amps.
Interesting thought, but I can't imagine what "easy" to Yngwie looks/sounds like!
Malmsteen's tone is completely different comparing to Petrucci's. It's way cleaner and classic.
Strats and Marshalls sound great tho
I've been looking for years to find this man (kris barocsi). saw his channel years ago which made me fell in love with boogie amps!
10:22 dat riff!!
what a Man! fenomenal and good person!
Thanks a lot for The interview ! Learned a lot from a legend today 🎸🤘
Awesome interview as part 1, but even more in depth about the real good stuff about his sound! I love Boogie sound even if I can't affort JP signature amp, but maybe one day....
Anyway it's great to see how John tweaks the amp to get each sound just right!
Great interview! Loved every second of it.
It is fun seeing and hearing you talk with JP, you know your stuff and really like what you hear, thanks for really great videos
Thanks a lot :)
Such a perfect amp!Awesome Tones for pretty much everything.
This stuff right here, the knowledge that he displays along with his playing ability, this is why John Petrucci is John Petrucci...
I was looking for this! great interview
Pure joy, thank you!
Also, props to Thomann for being one of the best gear and guitar related channels on TH-cam! Absolutely quality content and genuinely great stuff.
Thanks so much dude! //Philipp

I think the best interview ever would be to watch him write a short song and talk it out with someone.
More videos with Kris!
So cool this videos !!! Keep doing it!! Just love it !
Rectifiers get extra gain with eq knobs past 12 too. It's not like a straight up gain boost, more like more push in those frequencies.
18:44-19:19 was my favorite amp dialing. Damn!
At "17:24"...it's like "I like you Chris, but I am setting my sound now...and gain is more important than any question ever.."...
That amp sounds incredible
Awesome video, loved it!
I think I like how you had it dialed more than JP's settings.
This was helpful... thank you !
Jesus Christ these amps are something else. What more when they're being played by the man himself.
19:20 JP pretty much sums it up
12:39 What song is that riff from? Freaking amazing!
A Change of Seasons
@@OllyRybarczuk might have to get that one
Dude Glasgow Kiss! Live at the G3 tour had that lead sound, and with the added delay- omg
Love Christ interview, they both sound so boogie
What bar stools are the guys using?
Gretsch Bar Stool 24" 1883 → tho.mn/e1e41 ;)
When he turned that shred feature on I felt my soul screaming in joy like "yea, that's the shit".
So what are the differences between the Artisan and Monarchy aside from Aesthetics ?
which tc electronic pedals does he use ?
Corona and ..... ?
Hey guys, which mics did you use there please? I think I recognize the Sennheiser E906, but can't figure out the other one. Thanks!🔥
Kris is in total fan boy mode hahaha love it

@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses I feel you man! Same for me also !
Awesome
Haha the interviewer is bursting at the seams excited the entire tire. Don't blame him.
so comfortable
Are there plans for a JP signature socks and baseball caps ? Other than his cab and axefx everything else is signature stuff XD
Awesome amp, I know, I have 1, thanks
Is that Dimarzio Illuminator pickups that Petrucci uses in this video?
Sonic ecstasy
9:48 🤘
18:56 Hehe, Metropolis 1
Petrucci my messiah
What is the track he plays at 12.42?
I guess you got it by now but in case, it's "A Change of Season" by Dream Theater ;)
@@tomh4244 such a great riff! Beautiful.
@@gregmartin1615 Agreed my friend, timeless :)
the face of that guy!! hahaha he can't believe!
hey thom, why petrucci scooped his mid on eq ? eventhough guitar is a mid range instrument
Because he like a more tight Metallica style rythm sound

In genereal Boogies have very sensytive controls than most of the other amps
thx all, the answer is just "the amp"
Most detailed advertisement ever!
lol this is Actually useful info, ergo it cant possibly be an add...
Fuck , this guy know his amp.
This is your best video for thoman, You did great at HP too. But JP WoW
Thx Arild, your compliments are much appreciated!! 👍🏻
It's frightening to me how much john and i have in common. Minus the skills guhahahaha. OmG he said that's so boogie
boogie is boogie
this could be dangerous for Maddi's job as Kris sets the amp right lol
🌞🌞🌞
Was he going for a Spinal Tap reference?
After hearing that shred button, I'm selling both my AxeFX and Diezel amp. This is THEE amp!
pretty happy with my hagen xD i like boogies but my diezel is staying ^^

Why did Boogie not take into account that the shred can not be disengaged from the damn 2nd channel...makes no sense.
And this is the knob that John uses to change the weather and heat of the sun..........
I prefer his old sound.
it is fair to say this is the Chuck Norris of metal?
I'd say that's very fair.
//andy
So shred is supposed to be called djent then
