The reason why I’m personally against debuting minors in K-Pop is that so many idols who are adults have vocalized how hard the industry is and the pressure that they feel. I was honestly kind of disappointed (?) when i listened to Newjeans' japanese debut and it was like 80% english/korean. I really love newjeans and i was really hoping i could listen to them in another language but here we are. Of course, they have no control over it. Actually, even like this i often find koreans calling them traitors.
on the fifty fifty (re)debut-most of the hate is (in my opinion) being cast on the girls primarily because of how attrakt and companies in general tend to be very faceless and difficult to directly criticize because of that. it was also probably the new members’ last chance (or close to their last chance) to debut, and i think everyone is well aware of how desperate for debut trainees can be. i think that their joining attrakt and debuting in fifty fifty was done without malicious intent, and keena stayed with the label to try to pay off debts from what i know. it’s also important to note that there’s a chance these girls joined attrakt under the impression that they’d be debuting in a completely different group, but plans changed. regardless of this, i maintain that any content related to fifty fifty should be boycotted out of moral integrity. we don’t know what’s happening in that company right now. the members that left are still pursuing legal action. the boycott should come less from hate of the new members and more from just being a decent person. i’d also go as far as to say that the boycott is incredibly important due to how any releases that may come out of the new lineup will probably be streamed internationally because most people outside of the kpop fanbase just aren’t aware of what’s going on surrounding the group and their music. there needs to be at least some part of the audience that is refusing to support a project like this, especially with how the massive lineup changes effectively imply that labels just see idols-their employees-as interchangeable cash cows. there is no humanity to it. idk thats just my 2 cents :”)
@@yeriminders This is the best description of the situation I’ve read so far! I’m going to pin this because I’ve changed my mind on this; it does seem like a boycott against the company is going to be necessary, as well as international support for the three members who left. I do wonder about what can be done to advocate for the wellbeing/safety of the new Fifty Fifty members in the wake of the boycott however? I still don’t think they should be blamed or intentionally punished for a decision that for all we know could’ve been out of their hands to make
The reason I’m boycotting 5050 is because the money the company brings in is being used to fund the lawsuits against the og members, and I want no part in that 😢
I recently discovered your channel and I have to say it’s the one thing keeping me sane😅 I’m not even on twitter but I still manage to see so many Kpop fans who lack critical thinking skills on my fyp. The unnecessary hate trains, the fan wars and just the nature of Kpop in general, it’s not for the faint of heart, sometimes I think of leaving Kpop because of how toxic it gets but then I watch your videos and it gives me hope. I really love your unbiased look on topics and the way you deliver your opinions, even if I may not agree with all, I always respect them because am sure you put much thought into them and state them with good intentions. I really love your videos, please don’t stop uploading ✨
I definitely noticed how much you like Case 143 and your recent stan list video confirmed my suspicions lol. Personally, I don't find myself actively seeking out that particular title track but I know how good of a song it is.
1. I don't agree with the people hating on the new lineup and Keena (we don't really know what drove them to stay (in the case of Keena) or to join in the first place after all what happened to the former members), but i will still not be supporting that group and i'm one of those "annoying" people comenting every publication with the #⃣ boycott 5050, 'cause i feel like people should be aware of everything that happened with the former members And is specially fkd up that people is attacking them knowing what the former members went through and are currently going through... 😪 MHJ is definitely a creep If it was in my hands no one under 18 should debut.... and the training in a company should be from 16 minimum... kids are so easily to manipulate that that's why companies want kids in the industry, the can control them way easy, look at NJs....
I'm also a very "waffly" person ... it's not necessarily that I'm influenced easily or that my opinion changes with the majority, but I like to think of it as open mindedness- which is something that I really love about your channel and content! I think it's not a bad thing to take hard and fast opinions, especially in the industry of kpop where so many things require nuance and the circumstances and artistry change all the time
throughoutly enjoyed the video. I do agree that you have very nuanced takes on kpop situations/controversies, which I appreciate. I also love ain't no other fan for the same reason. Maybe you're a bit waffle-y at times, which I agree on a bit, but its not that big of a deal. Maybe just state your opinions and then just leave room for other opinions to also be valid? Idk. I would also say I've been into kpop for 12 ish years now?? (I feel old) and I agree twitter is the worst. As someone who in their teens ran a kpop fanpage (on insta) and now interact with it from a distance, just stick on the sane/non-judgy side and I think its fine. I only ever hear about hate trains/controversies through kpop websites/now tiktok & shorts. So the fandom can be toxic but I normally stay away from it, and its kind of easy to do so on a large scale. Of course there will always be those things which are just unavoidable (like the le sserafim thing). Anyway idk where I was going with this but I do REALLY enjoy your videos and your takes.
About the hybe payola thing, I thinks its more noticable now than bwfore with western labels also scalling back certain promo to focus on viral marketing. Honestly this sounds dumb but I recently went to a coldplay concert with my mom and we talked about how she experienced music in the 90is. What some people call payola now, was literally expected from label to do, to get their artists out there. Basically if you are the artist that is the biggest in that label and they arent doing that, the vibe was: what are ypu doing, this is your job. I think about that a lot with the convo people have about a company promoting in kpop
i agree with you on KATSEYE, i think marketing to kpop stans is a natural and safe strategy to consider, specially since they're just starting. the diversity of ethnicities of the members is also a huge plus for this, seeing as the kpop fandom is very diverse globally, as well as mostly female. i think a lot of fans get excited with the prospect of seeing a person like themselves debut in a kpop-like group, because they never saw it as a possibility before. if they establish a strong fan base from the kpop fandom, they could be able to pivot to other areas with the proper promo!
18:52 Speaking as someone who loves boy groups, I think the reason why we use the "see, it's not just noise music" is because boy groups are constantly disregarded in terms of artistry (music, concept, etc...) and reduced to be one dimensional by toxic gg stans and one of the most common ways they do this is by declaring that they are only "noisy" in a negative light. For example: my favorite group is Stray Kids, I love love their louder, noisy music and I wouldn't want it any other way, but they also have more diversity and complexity than people may let you believe and I want that to be recognized and respected as well. Long story short, this is just a common way we fans have to fight these wrong assumptions and how there is richness, creativity and layered artistry in boy groups as well (btw there's nothing wrong with not liking boy groups, everyone has their own preferences when it comes to forms of art, like music. We can respect each other's tastes, at the very least)
hi Jimi, late congrats on 10k and 12k, almost 13k! Crazy to see the growth also 23:11 is so real (I haven’t watched the full video but just from the time stamps I already agree)
I really don't understand why boycott FIFTYFIFTY. Like the 3 original members never gave proofs. It's a trust me bro. But attract and keena had proofs of what they are saying. It's the same with new jeans, why should I belive that they lived in bad dorms if they don't show me some photos (every group that has bad dorms have a photo)
I think that's the thing doe. Like people there know about how rough the work culture is no matter the job so I think companies just lure in minors since let's be real they're dumb and Guliable while their parents want their kids to make them money

the loona members are the only idols i stan and the only reason i ever got into k-pop, i love them all and their entire discography from pre-debut to all post bbc releases, but i definitely agree that loossemble one of a kind was not that great. girls night is AMAZING and one of my favorite loona tracks of all time, but the b-sides just arent great imo, while their debut was phenomenal. ttyl teasers so far sound really interesting and im very excited, so i hope the b-sides are good this time too edit: also calling them dozens is crazy to me because all the members were crucial to the concept and music, bbc just underutilized some of the girls (specifically the loossemble members) but i think theyve improved a lot over the years and are finally getting their chance to shine in a smaller group. overall while i was heartbroken about everything that happened under bbc and after chuu's removal, im so grateful for it and all the content we've gotten since has been amazing. im seeing artms in october and hopefully the rest if they ever come to europe (again, anyway, i saw 9 out of 12 back in 2022 in warsaw) :)
I wonder if you could make a video about Weki Meki's impact on the industry? 😮 I looooved them when they were active (rip...) but I'm actually sadly unaware of their impact and would love to know. Love your channel btw!😊😊
If Kpop girl groups can promote and use Japan as a springboard for success, conversely, it should be ok for other groups to promote in Korea . . I just don’t understand the negativity around this . .
really diappointed you think new fifty fifty shouldnt be boycotted. while none of this is keena's fault and she stayed with the company to keep her family afloat, i definitely blame the (adult, at least) new members for joining a company they knew had a history of abuse (especially chanelle, who im sure had many companies going after her as she was one of the most popular RUNext trainees), and moreso the company who is clearly trying to chase after cupid's success with new girls who they are going to abuse and mistreat just the same after they almost killed one of the og fifty fifty girls and completely got away with it. supporting the new fifty fifty is only supporting the company. ill be shocked if any of those girls ever get paid, so really supporting them is only supporting attrakt. support 3jeong (og fifi girls minus keena)'s redebut, do NOT support attrakt in any way.
if we boycott them then so many groups should be boycotted as well so many companies have mistreated their groups in worse or just as bad ways as attrakt
@@zilliaz5458 that’s not the point. fifty fifty is attrakt’s only group, if we all boycott them to show them we do not support what they did it is so much easier because 5050 is their only point of income. same thing happened with loona boycotts because they were abused, and it worked. boycotting is not out of the question
Lol, literally is not even confirmed that Attrakt made what the ex-members claim in that case literally every group should be boycotted because companies don't treat them well
@@cocoatwist I’m coming at this from the point that I don’t think any of the new members should suffer, but the way you described it definitely makes a lot of sense - it seems like the new members will suffer regardless under a company like Attrakt. I disagree that the members should be to blame in any way, though. ~21 is still way too young to be making career-altering decisions in the entertainment industry, and especially considering the Korean media largely settled in favor of the company I’ll have to do more research into what happened and what’s going on and approach this with more consideration in the future, but I agree that a boycott/protest against the company over what has happened will always be necessary, especially considering the three members who left are likely going to have a very hard time promoting in Korea. I definitely agree that financial support should be going to them first and foremost
I feel so dumb everytime I talk about this but both nayeon solos have really bad mixing. The vocals are so washed out. Beyonce's songs from the 2000's sounds better mixed.. like I can't be the only one who hears it?? Jihyo solo was decently mixed tho

Under 20? That's just you controlling someones life. 18 minimum, HOWEVER there should be a basic legal training they should complete before signing contracts administered by the government and legal representation. So you would be 17 when you start studying for it and 18 by the time it's finished. Contracts should be 2-3 years maximum as to not trap members and rule out taking another career path. Not much more than the average required military service for males. The reason 17-18 is fine is because the average person can start and be in a band (non idol) at almost any age and build a following. You can book gigs at cafes, small festivals, busk independently (usually not bars). 20 is an arbitrary number and doesn't guarantee you magically understand the world. That sounds like moral grandstanding rather than an actual solution. That's why minimal legal training/briefing and protection should be required to sign and debut. Similar to a college entrance exam or a semester course. That's the only real guarantee and safe guard REGARDLESS of age.
Its not bad necessarily. its just used to describe a group that is unpopular or unknown to the majority of kpop fans/ general public. Because these groups tend to be from small companies, any group from a small company sometimes inaccuratly get called nugu, like in the case of Kiss Of Life. They are from a small company but they are definitly not unpopular or unknown.

regardless of this, i maintain that any content related to fifty fifty should be boycotted out of moral integrity. we don’t know what’s happening in that company right now. the members that left are still pursuing legal action. the boycott should come less from hate of the new members and more from just being a decent person. i’d also go as far as to say that the boycott is incredibly important due to how any releases that may come out of the new lineup will probably be streamed internationally because most people outside of the kpop fanbase just aren’t aware of what’s going on surrounding the group and their music. there needs to be at least some part of the audience that is refusing to support a project like this, especially with how the massive lineup changes effectively imply that labels just see idols-their employees-as interchangeable cash cows. there is no humanity to it.
idk thats just my 2 cents :”)
I still don’t think they should be blamed or intentionally punished for a decision that for all we know could’ve been out of their hands to make
Janey where are you, you dropped this: 👑
The reason I’m boycotting 5050 is because the money the company brings in is being used to fund the lawsuits against the og members, and I want no part in that 😢
I recently discovered your channel and I have to say it’s the one thing keeping me sane😅 I’m not even on twitter but I still manage to see so many Kpop fans who lack critical thinking skills on my fyp.
1. I don't agree with the people hating on the new lineup and Keena (we don't really know what drove them to stay (in the case of Keena) or to join in the first place after all what happened to the former members), but i will still not be supporting that group and i'm one of those "annoying" people comenting every publication with the #⃣ boycott 5050, 'cause i feel like people should be aware of everything that happened with the former members
And is specially fkd up that people is attacking them knowing what the former members went through and are currently going through... 😪
MHJ is definitely a creep
If it was in my hands no one under 18 should debut.... and the training in a company should be from 16 minimum... kids are so easily to manipulate that that's why companies want kids in the industry, the can control them way easy, look at NJs....
Wake up the king posted
Love a good ol' Jimi react to Kpop opinions vids, idk I get a huge kick out of them, they are soooo fun :DD
StayC girls its going down! But it did come back recently in a JP release I'm pretty sure...so its not as if it's gone forever
stayc said their name in their new song meow
I will always say it if a company isn't doing aggressive marketing for them it's useless
i agree with you on KATSEYE, i think marketing to kpop stans is a natural and safe strategy to consider, specially since they're just starting. the diversity of ethnicities of the members is also a huge plus for this, seeing as the kpop fandom is very diverse globally, as well as mostly female. i think a lot of fans get excited with the prospect of seeing a person like themselves debut in a kpop-like group, because they never saw it as a possibility before. if they establish a strong fan base from the kpop fandom, they could be able to pivot to other areas with the proper promo!
Long story short, this is just a common way we fans have to fight these wrong assumptions and how there is richness, creativity and layered artistry in boy groups as well
(btw there's nothing wrong with not liking boy groups, everyone has their own preferences when it comes to forms of art, like music. We can respect each other's tastes, at the very least)
17:59 to add on about the kiof thing bc it annoys me so much Haneul only became a legal adult like 2 months before they debuted 😭
hi Jimi, late congrats on 10k and 12k, almost 13k! Crazy to see the growth
also 23:11 is so real (I haven’t watched the full video but just from the time stamps I already agree)
My irl friends: Hey Chu, what's Kpop
Me: *shows the Love Bomb MV* This is Kpop
And that is one of the most correct answers you could give
"ive is painfully mid" are we still living in 2022... havent heard that in a while
I really don't understand why boycott FIFTYFIFTY. Like the 3 original members never gave proofs. It's a trust me bro. But attract and keena had proofs of what they are saying. It's the same with new jeans, why should I belive that they lived in bad dorms if they don't show me some photos (every group that has bad dorms have a photo)
They didn't have proof to back up their claim that's a fact did the abuse happen yes are we sure the stories they told are all factually correct
“debuting idols under 20 should be illegal” as if most sane adults in korea want to be kpop idols anyways
I think that's the thing doe. Like people there know about how rough the work culture is no matter the job so I think companies just lure in minors since let's be real they're dumb and Guliable while their parents want their kids to make them money

the loona members are the only idols i stan and the only reason i ever got into k-pop, i love them all and their entire discography from pre-debut to all post bbc releases, but i definitely agree that loossemble one of a kind was not that great. girls night is AMAZING and one of my favorite loona tracks of all time, but the b-sides just arent great imo, while their debut was phenomenal. ttyl teasers so far sound really interesting and im very excited, so i hope the b-sides are good this time too
edit: also calling them dozens is crazy to me because all the members were crucial to the concept and music, bbc just underutilized some of the girls (specifically the loossemble members) but i think theyve improved a lot over the years and are finally getting their chance to shine in a smaller group. overall while i was heartbroken about everything that happened under bbc and after chuu's removal, im so grateful for it and all the content we've gotten since has been amazing. im seeing artms in october and hopefully the rest if they ever come to europe (again, anyway, i saw 9 out of 12 back in 2022 in warsaw) :)
I wonder if you could make a video about Weki Meki's impact on the industry? 😮 I looooved them when they were active (rip...) but I'm actually sadly unaware of their impact and would love to know. Love your channel btw!😊😊
The first opinion ate
OMG YESSS AZERAL XIKERS MUSIC IS SAUR GOOOD 💞💞💞💞
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS YASSSSS
The title alone shouldn't be an opinion, it should be a fact, in my opinion. But, great job, as usual! Stay awesome, Choujimi. :) - Skye.
the loona dozen comment is a good example of 5th gen stans losing the plot
Could you do a video where you explain the meaning behind 'CRAZY' by LE SSERAFIM?
if MHJ is not a creep to you, then you def still have got some growing up and learning how the world works to do.. :(
If Kpop girl groups can promote and use Japan as a springboard for success, conversely, it should be ok for other groups to promote in Korea . . I just don’t understand the negativity around this . .
33:19 have you listened to Cherry Talk yet? the ambient music you have in the background of your videos reminds me of its intro lmao
14:40 very interesting argument
Ooooo Avery is bringing the personality hereee you're truly golden Avery lol
Oh wow Abby, oh wowwww also Abby please stay safe 💞💞💞💞
Speak on it janey, say it louder for the people at the back 📢📢📢📢📢📢📢📢
Ur right isn’t that child labor??? Correct me if I’m wrong
really diappointed you think new fifty fifty shouldnt be boycotted. while none of this is keena's fault and she stayed with the company to keep her family afloat, i definitely blame the (adult, at least) new members for joining a company they knew had a history of abuse (especially chanelle, who im sure had many companies going after her as she was one of the most popular RUNext trainees), and moreso the company who is clearly trying to chase after cupid's success with new girls who they are going to abuse and mistreat just the same after they almost killed one of the og fifty fifty girls and completely got away with it. supporting the new fifty fifty is only supporting the company. ill be shocked if any of those girls ever get paid, so really supporting them is only supporting attrakt. support 3jeong (og fifi girls minus keena)'s redebut, do NOT support attrakt in any way.
if we boycott them then so many groups should be boycotted as well so many companies have mistreated their groups in worse or just as bad ways as attrakt
@@zilliaz5458 that’s not the point. fifty fifty is attrakt’s only group, if we all boycott them to show them we do not support what they did it is so much easier because 5050 is their only point of income. same thing happened with loona boycotts because they were abused, and it worked. boycotting is not out of the question
right that was really weird imo
Lol, literally is not even confirmed that Attrakt made what the ex-members claim in that case literally every group should be boycotted because companies don't treat them well
@@cocoatwist I’m coming at this from the point that I don’t think any of the new members should suffer, but the way you described it definitely makes a lot of sense - it seems like the new members will suffer regardless under a company like Attrakt. I disagree that the members should be to blame in any way, though. ~21 is still way too young to be making career-altering decisions in the entertainment industry, and especially considering the Korean media largely settled in favor of the company
I’ll have to do more research into what happened and what’s going on and approach this with more consideration in the future, but I agree that a boycott/protest against the company over what has happened will always be necessary, especially considering the three members who left are likely going to have a very hard time promoting in Korea.
Jihyo solo was decently mixed tho
no bc i was afraid i was too being too niche😭like sometimes the instrumentals are way too loud and it’s so weird
When I first got into kpop I thought that type of mixing is just a stylistic choice or their way of singing💀
i dont try to defend sakuras vocal trainer
but her question of sakura losing confidence, was because she was singing worse than the trainer knows of her
I guess why stop only at K-pop??u can also include child gymnasts ballet dancers actors models pageants and so on..no one should work before 20👍
Thats the thing in sports though, if you start young, you learn faster. Its with most sports and instruments.
If you dont starts young you cant make it to the professional level because a sports carrer is over when people start hitring mid 30 to 40
@@carolinesch. it’s was a sarcasm.. plenty artists started very young from Michael Jackson to Britney Spears Justin Beiber and all these Disney child actors so it’s just ludicrous to say they should start adults if they are talented and can handle pressure why not go for it?
@@bourjoism3917 oh. Well I have seen legit people call for that so the sarcasm flew right over my head lol
@@carolinesch. 😅
Idols shouldn’t debut before 30, so they’re mature enough to face hard times
30:16 what c6 😭😭😭
@@seon_njang is that not how you say it lol 😭 I have no experience with vocal terminology
@@choujimi a c6 is a very very high note, and not only do i think none of the girls hit that in the song, i cant even remember when that note was it in Gods by any voice at all! If you have any apple device, garageband has a piano you can use and it does have the note C6 labelled so you can play and listen to its pitch
That's the only real guarantee and safe guard REGARDLESS of age.
wtf does nugu mean btw
i never used it but i wana know if its bad or good at least
i mean it has to be bad right ?
It’s the word for “who” in Korean - it’s not a bad word, just used by kpop fans to describe someone or something as irrelevant lol
