    The fact that over 18 is considered old in the kpop industry is insane. That's around the age I would expect idols to start training

    • @rhynochi
      @rhynochi ปีที่แล้ว +157

      I think you also have to consider that unless you already have very solid and amazing skills, it takes years to train. A lot of trainees train for a minimum 2-3 years but usually more. The people who tend to debut later or debut with very short training periods are the main/lead vocals who luckily can dance somewhat. This is because their singing doesn't need a lot of training, it just needs tweaking which can be given after debut since idols still do practice and classes after debut anyway. Being moderately good at dancing can also be improved if they train after. But if you need more training, it's better to train younger so you debut late teens or young adults. Being younger means your body recovers faster. A lot of older idols like a lot of normal adults around mid-to-late 20s to 30s comment "my joints are stiff. My body takes so long to recover now. I'm not as overly energetic anymore. I have past injuries that are affecting my movement. I get tired easily nowadays." I'm not saying debut little kids. I'm just explaining why they don't want most auditions from people who are 20s as the chances of someone who needs very little training is not super high. The earlier you debut the more time you have to be an idol especially with youthful energetic concepts. This is true for girl groups because a lot of male fans are fickle and jump from new young group to new young group. This is true for boy groups because military. If boys debut early and have more years to become popular, they are more likely to survive not promoting for 2-3 years. If you aren't popular and you disappear for 2-3 years, people forget you and it's difficult to gain popularity against groups who gain popularity while you are gone OR who have debuted since you disappeared.

    Listen y'all, no matter how old you are even if you're in your twenties or thirties don't give up! The reason they accept young people or kids is because they want them to take their time in training properly, basically to make them professional in both singing and dancing (which takes years) however if any of you is already talented at both or at one of them then there's a high possibility that they will accept you regardless of the age, two things they mainly search for are *talent* and *visuals*

    Yeah many idols nowadays that debuted in their early 20s only trained for a couple of months and that makes sense now. Cuz they joined at an older age so they either had the talent already or progressed super fast. And then they were added onto a group that was already formed like a yr in the working (hasnt debuted yet) but they were looking for 1 or 2 more members specifically that fit a certain criteria that they needed for the group to be whole. Otherwise if they were younger they probs wouldn't have debuted them as fast.

    keep in mind: the main reason companies take such young children in is because they can take the time to train them for as long as they need and they can debut them once theyve built up their skills as much as the company needed them to, usually trainees that have been training since they were 13 or under will be at the ideal debut age (for the company) at 16-20. but you can also be 13-18 and have plenty of time to train but if youre in the higher end of the range you should show that you already have your skillset built up to show you wont take too much of their resources and time to develop. if you're 18+ you still have a chance, you just have to have some very developed skills, at least have vocals or dance be very developed and the other skill should be semi developed since we know how weird kpop is about ages. the companies would want older trainees to be able to learn/train quicker. good luck everyone! you're not too old to audition, i do recommend waiting until you're 13 at least to audition though for mental health purposes. dont worry the industry isnt going to leave you behind, shoot ur shots tho!

      Actually m about to turn 22 in 4 months, by the time I discovered kpop, I was already 18. I have been thinking of auditioning for a long time now since I was 19, but I was insecure of myself and my parents wouldn’t have allowed me to audition that time. Now m an adult and I have a little bit of independence, now I want to audition, but it’s too late. I’m still trying to audition. I’m right now practicing a song, and i will fill forms of as many companies as possible, that are accepting older girls like me. Like jyp, they don’t care about age, if they like a contestant and if that contestant can mix well with other girl in a group, they’ll debut her or even think about taking her in. Best of luck to you if you decide to proceed. And best of luck to me as well

      Try to live your childhood whilst you can because like jk said he missed a lot of his childhood because of being an idol so make sure you make time for yourself

      So I hope you are aware of that
      Just make sure this is what you want to do not for fame or for money because that won't make you happy but if you love singing, dancing ,Rapping then I'd say go for it :)

    To be honest, training is very brutal. A lot of hours on your feet. On top of that, if you're in a bad company, you don't eat a lot. So you're always hungry. And you don't sleep alot either.
    You have to research companies that take care of their trainees and idols and dancers. So that you're healthy.
    I've been noticing a lot of idols not looking very healthy when you see them in real life. Looking very thin and sick.
    In all honesty, I would say you could become an idol yourself without going to Korea. You have to save money, research, and put in work. Learn how lighting and cameras work. How distributing music and editing work. You also will have more power over your creativity in what you do music wise, how you sound, what you do, and be a lot happier. Because in the kpop industry, it's very frustrating not having your own creativity.
    Also, in Korea, pale skin is still idolized over there. There are tan Asians in the music industry for sure, but if you're going to go to Korea to be part of their music industry....it's gonna be rough because people might say you're too dark or "don't fit the standard". You have to literally have the thickest skin ever because of how toxic it is.
    And also. No plastic surgery. Stick to how your face naturally is.
    I wanted to be a kpop idol when I was younger, but as I'm older ...I'm very glad I never went for that path. Because my mental, emotional, and physical health would've been destroyed. I don't need to put myself through an industry like that. Because it's a lonely life.
    Also, another thing. Sexual assault cases and rape are no joke. You would be distanced far from your family. You would literally have to watch over your shoulder, and make sure you're around people who got your best interests at heart and who care about you.

    My dream is to be an k-pop idol or a chef with i kinda wanna be k-pop idol but a chef but I'll see what my future leads me to

      Companies take on dozens of trainees in a single audition cycle. Not all of them make the cut. Idol trainees are a dime a dozen in Korea, and only 1% of them debut. It's likely this girl passed like one or two auditions then now pretends to know everything.

    • @ACEsParkJunheeWreckedMeHard
      @ACEsParkJunheeWreckedMeHard ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@de341f6 Not only in Korea. The Japanese companies Johnny's Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Entertainment, Avex, LDH Records, Stardust Records and a few more have sometimes so many trainees that they often buy entire buildings where they just keep the trainees and most of them will never make it under their companies. Last time when for example Avex talked about their trainees in a press, which was in 2020 they had 126 trainees and of them only a small hand debuted by now. A lot of the trainees that Avex used to have also debuted under different companies or switched to train under another company as for example Manato from the JPop-group BE:FIRST who first trained under Avex, than under LDH and than went back to Avex before he participated on the survival show that formed BE:FIRST and he had a total training time of 7 years. Also some of the Japanese KPop-trainees had been trainees under Japanese companies before. The Japanese trainee Shohei from SM Entertainment for example, who is around 27 years old, he was quit a long time trainee under Avex before in Japan

But it was a different kind of singing ... I've been practicing K-pop and English songs for two years now .... And I am also practicing K-pop dances lately.... But you can say I am a little bad at remembering the choreography.... And my visuals are.... Well... I don't know.... Okay I guess?.... But my only problem is that I have uneven teeth.... So I think my chances are 40/60.... Even if I get selected, my parents would disagree of leaving me in their care.... So I don't think I have much of a chance........

    It's easy when you just think as company's perspective.
    There's common between Idol who debut over 19 or short trainee period.
    When you have incredible visual like Irene, Kazha and Jin. Or you got great vocal but also quite cute like baekhyun or Chen.(Giselle is exception. She can debut because she is company ceo's girlfriend's niwce.)
    If you are already good at dancing and singing, they wouldn't care you didn't go through long training under company.

    the problem is that there are alot of non korean people who may want to become an idol but dont know the language and everything🚶🏼‍♀️theyve got alot to learn to become an idol and may be scared of not being accepted because theyre not from korea and dont have the same features like the eyes or something. I think this shouldnt be a problem and im pretty sure its not that deep, as there are alot of japanese, thai, chinese, alot of english and alot more idols that had to learn the language too. I hope that everyone who wants to become an idol gets to their goal🫶🏼

Ofc we see for example Japanese snd Chinese in kpop groups but if say a French person wants o join who has the right set of skills and speaks Korean, would they allow it? Because I can imagine they'd also be looking for certain body features that fit Korea's beauty standards and most people who aren't from Asia don't really fit into that
