Is Elden Ring Better in First-Person?

- I've tried lots of Elden Ring challenges in my day. Level 1 runs, the Ascended mod, but nothing has been quite as strange as this: The Elden Ring in First-Person mod. This mod is pretty simple, it takes Elden Ring from a Third-Person perspective, and put's it into First, so that way you can see what your character would see. It was hard, it was interesting, but it begs the question; Is Elden Ring Better in First-Person?

1:05 I understand that keyboard is ergonomic but it’s shape ignites an unreasonable fury deep within my soul.
Ergonomic boards also only give real benefits if you spend hours a day typing specifically. If you’re just gaming, you don’t need an ergonomic board. They’re specifically designed for two handed typing.
I think the reason depth perception was off is because the fov was goofy. It was a bit warped like when you max out your minecraft fov
i don't think so. If the FOV was any lower it would be motion sickness inducing. Depth Perception was off just because that's inherent to first person games.
@@notaspider4084 depth perception isn't an issue in games, and just from the first attack on the tut boss I can tell it's 1,000% because of the fov.
but you are right that without the fov it probably would be so zoomed in it'd cause motion sickness, so it's kind of a trade off that probably HAS to be done

Awesome video as per usual, but you HAVE to do another Convergence video. There was a MASSIVE update which entirely overhauled Stormveil Castle, Raya Lucaria, and Castle Morne, as well as a whole new system to tier 2 armors for melee classes

2:22 I think the reveal is actually better in first person; you have a much better view of it without your character in the way, and the camera being at their face adds to the sense of scale.
This feels like Skyrim in Elden Ring which is honestly not surprising since people make Skyrim mods to make it play like Dark Souls, its like a reversal

I personally would've turned on the Track Dodges setting, it feels more in tune.
I tried this for a bit with this mod, it was extremely disorienting lol but I guess that's pretty realistic if you rolled around in a fight right?🤣
@@RVNDVLF exactly, man what I would'nt give to be able to time travel 50 years in the future and Miyazaki and Fromsoft is treated like Marvels and Stan Lee or Disney and Walt Disney, before Disney themselves ruined it all. And then technology is so evolved kinda just like cyberpunk and we can play Soulsborne games in Virtual Reality.

I would kill for a 1st person mod but it depends on what kind of Helmet you wear.. Like that huge cinder block type helmet leaves only a slit of space for me. I would play that for suuuure
If they adjusted the hit boxes for your pov, made the attacking animations cleaner and dodge like in bloodborne it would be so good

Real ones know that the first "Souls-like" games From Soft ever made were in fact First person. (Kings Field, and yes, they did run into the same issues this very video had which prob prompted them to go 3rd person action starting with Demons Souls onwards)

I feel like changing the FOV so it isn't wide would help with judging distances- it does seem a bit stretched in this. This with VR sounds like it'd be a blast!

The best part about the mod is that you have a slight "Shuffle" when attacking and strafing, so you can partially side-step and use Elden Rings' fairly accurate hitboxes to the max. You can actively dodge some rare few attacks while attacking and it's pretty great
Another good point is that the mod is hot-keyed to a hold down for your enemy lock, so you actually get to swap perspectives however you wish and lastly
The mod works with Seamless Co Op and even overhauls like Convergence
It can really change and mix a lot to the game when running all those mods and friends

I feel like this can be insanely good with some improvements. 1, make protecticles such as arrows invisible client side. 2, decrease bobbing and disable player animations, like how skyrim does it. 3, improve pov to better gauge distance. 4, torrent in 3rd person.
I beat ELDEN RING in first person today. And oh boy, it was a whole different game, and I loved it.
Oh and also I had roll head tracking on since the beggining.

Why does nobody ever change the roll animation to the quickstep animation for these videos? It's always been on my mind when people do these videos. There are tons of mods for it, so why does it feel like I'm the only person who thinks about it.

I honestly think from a viewers view the game looks way better in first person and kinda reminds me of skyrim but with all that rolling around and getting up close and personal I dont think it would be a generalized good idea

When i first saw my brother play elden ring i saw him fight the final boss and he said that radagon was meant to be adam and elden beast was god himself
I wish you would of shown some of the transition places between bosses, I feel like for a challenge like this it would have been as important/cool if not even a bit more than just the bosses
I know a lot of these challenges don’t show those and some even just skip them with console commands/mods but I feel like this vid suffered a bit for it :/

thanks for this! it's quite an intense first person view - like it's filmed on one of those 360 degree go-pro cameras. Me covering both sides of the screen so the image was the width of the boss health bar made it feel much less fish-eye lens. Give it a go!
i beat it in first person and all i can say is " I CAN NOT SEE SHT" fck loretta (ghost) and radahn in particular

I mean, the game was carefully designed by some of the best game designers in the business to be 3rd person, so, yeah? :) It makes sense that it'd be much better in the "intended" view aspect. Great video!

The only thing that could have possibly been better with Dark Souls and Elden Ring is if they all had puzzles like King's Field.
But with something so grossly incandescent as Elden Ring and DS3 in first person, there's hardly room to complain.
