- Ever since making a video a while back about Elden Ring and the 7 Deadly Sins, I knew I was gonna have to follow it up with Elden Ring and the 7 Heavenly Virtues. It took some time and research, but with the remaining 8 Remembrance bosses (sorry Regal Ancestor Spirit) I was able to make the Virtues fit pretty well. Let me know if you guys would make any changes to this list, but I'm happy with how it came out!

So, correction, Nokron and Noksella still both have their night skies, so neither were the one directly assaulted by Astel. The Eternal City directly under the Erdtree, however, lacks a false sky and is visibly in a state of disrepair (and conveniently flooded so we can't see meteor impacts). This makes it the most likely target of Astel.
As for why the Fingerslayer Blade is in Nokron? They moved it when Astel landed. They picked it up, and moved it elsewhere. Because its a physical knife that can be moved.

For Astel I think he's less created BY the Greater Will, and moreso made by the stars, which are the lack of gods in most cases, hence Naturalborn of the Void. Especially considering the starcaller beasts, baby Astel creatures, and second Astel, they're more of a species. I think what the Greater Will did was SEND one to the Eternal City, which caused chaos to ensue. They're just a dangerous, destructive, godless monster that was used as a weapon.
How do you know it was sent by the grater will?

I think Fia's "laying with the dead" is a way to bring them back to life, I believe she explains it somewhere when talking to her...
I think her goal was to bring Godwyn new life or some sort of peace to his body, and that makes me think she actually quite values life hence why she is so protective of Those Who Live in Death
Huh, five of these actually line up incredibly well. Charity for Elden Beast is a little more arguable, and Chastity for Astel is... uh, did you never notice all the larval forms of Astel hanging from the ceiling around Siofra and Ainsel? It's pretty obvious that string of beads is laying eggs all over the place.

@@andrewbowen2837it’s almost a god like the elden beast. I doubt he can’t change his form lore wise after all a literal dragon can so why couldn’t astel. Also there’s literal baby astels hanging around everywhere firing rocks at you and hanging from ceilings so idk how this is supposed to not be baby astels especially since the eggs are near the baby’s. It’s also called a bastard star so it’s probably similar to the elden beast maybe deformed or simply not fully formed like the elden beast which is a god. You can also see a few similarities the wings, the arms I guess and the little feet 4 of them to be exact which the elden beast also has I think but instead of it being feet it’s the things that fish have idk I’m not American
Edit: astel also has the same grab attack and upon googling the exact meaning of bastard it seems that the meaning isn’t the parent one but rather that astel is no longer in its pure or original version meaning it perhaps decayed or changed which is why it has a human head I guess deformed really fits
@GodfreyFirstEldenLord I'm not saying they aren't similar in design to astel because they obviously are. I'm suggesting they are not astel's offspring, but simply the same species in earlier life stages. I find it more likely they all fell with different meteorites. How else would you explain there being two different astels anyways?
Charity for Elden Beast is fine, now chastity, well I can't really think of anyone in Elden Ring that can fulfill that
The fact that Godfrey is on this list of virtues is funny to me, because he always reminded me of Samson from the Bible.
First of all, he tears apart a lion, which Samson is specifically quoting as having choked out (or something like that) with his bare hands, he has long locks of hair (which are important to Samson's story, and seems to be at the focal point of the beard in Godfrey's case, compared to Samson's scalp hair), and he's simultaneously a man of temperance and wrath. He also has superhuman strength, which Hoarah Loux obviously parallels, given his clearly very primal moveset and his ability to cause shockwaves and explosions simply by stomping and slamming the ground. Such is my case as to why I think Godfrey/Hoarah Loux is an Elden Ring equivalent to the biblical Samson.
I get Godfrey as temperance. The virtues are meant to overcome the sins so therefore the sin must be there to over come. Godfrey suppressing his wrath literally via serosh and figuratively by losing his purpose and still being faithful to Marika is displaying temperance. Also you only beat Godfrey when he succumbs back to his old wrathful self and reverting his growth in way
As far as I understand, the Astels are a species, because you see a lot of them in various stages of development in Elden Ring.
I dont think, they directly serve the greater will, but were perhaps just very beneficial to its causes, so it sent a number of them to the lands between (because the Craters where the fallingstar beasts are in, as well as the arenas for the cave bosses, have golden fragments in them.
Serve is not quite right, the elden rings order contains the stars movement as well, which adds some more awesome to radahn, he wasn’t just holding back the stars, he was holding back the very order the world confides in, but namely astel is more under the influence of the controlled by, my theory for the one is rannis quest is that the greater will was defending itself, if it is order then it can see with some amount of precognition at least, so it would make sense that it defends itself with fate as a shield.

There are many "Astel" around the land (like the one in the Altus Tunnel) and we know that "Astel" is the final evolution form of the Fallingstar Beast. Perhaps "Natural born of the void" simply means this particular Astel was allowed to fully mature from Fallingstar Beast to Astel while in space before he was sent down to the Land Between.
As for why there are two Astels, my head theory is that the "Star of Darkness" Astel is the one that destroyed the city of the Nox and not the "Natural born of the void" (If you took away the false "night sky" of the Nox, you'll be left with darkness since they're underground).

The Greater Will is definitely an Outer God. The Frenzied Flame is a confirmed Outer God, and they are pretty clearly two feuding halves of one whole similar to Radagon and Marika. Order and Chaos, two fingers and three fingers form the hand of god. They probably used to be The One Great.
Additionally the Twin Bird is an Envoy for the Outer God of Death the same way the Elden Beast is an Envoy for the Greater Will.

The reason Astel is the “Natural Born of the Void” and “Stars of Darkness” is because “Astel” likely isn’t the beings name, “Astel” seems to just be the fully grown version of the Fallingstar Beasts, and ironically the “Full Grown Fallingstar Beast” proves this, as you can see a little Astel skull on their head, this explain why there are multiple Astels and not much else

One of my theories is that to wolf-like grafted lightning beast we see in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC trailer is Miquella’s Shadow.
The thing about that lightning beast though is it is puppeted by people. If you look really close you can see human legs.

Just a little correction, Marika's "betrayal" is more likely her banishment of him, as she tasks him to consume all the deathroot that was unleashed on the world, which she obviously knew was impossible. His inescapable hunger is a product of Marika, and thus she betrayed him and abandoned him

21:25 - I believe Fia sees Godwyn (in his Prince of Death form) as something of a kindred spirit: both are reviled for their capacity of bringing the dead back to life (her, in a much smaller scale than him). This is illustrated the most after she kills D: she claims to be one of Those Who Live in Death even though she's technically not.
Even while shunned, she actively celebrates and embraces her role ("where I come from, it's a sacred act"), so her ultimate goal is to make ressurecting the dead a sacred act everywhere (by birthing the rune that allows for it).
Now, if only the game didn't go so hard on the lore vs gameplay separation for that ending. We're told by her and by Rogier that Living in Death is no offence and that those people just want to be left alone, but we don't find a single friendly talking skeleton to help us sympathize with that point of view.
Empyrian as in IE, someone from the Empire although which one is never stated it is from outside the lands between and comes to it from large ships capable of faring well on the ocean from a highly advanced civilization that was destroyed for one reason or another.

Gurranq/Maliketh actually has two different dialogues at the beginning of the fight, I can’t remember if it depends on how many death roots you give him or if it’s when you don’t give him any I think it’s one of those I also can’t remember were I learned this i think it was a short I seen a few weeks ago but I still want to give some credit to that person even if I can’t remember them exactly lol

a slight correction on the maliketh lore. maliketh wasnt gifted to marika, they were straight up half siblings. its theorised that the reason of the empyrean shadows being beasts is that they were modeled after maliketh.

I mean, you do get their weapons and armor after you beat them in combat.
Radan is a reference to Kaldin.
Godfrey is a reference to Dalinar.
Renalla is a reference to Shallan.

The Dung Eater was once a stern believer in the Guidance of Grace and the Golden Order, to the point he equated it to the golden sun itself (Omen Armor set description). Yet, he since has gone astray once he saw how badly the Omens (who are lit innocent children mind you) were treated and decided to make it his mission to spread the "curse" around however he can (when everyone is cursed, no one will be). (Sure, he's a sadistic fucc who taints people's souls, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions) by this logic, wouldn't the Dung Eater also exemplar the virtue of charity and/or kindness?
There is a theory that Fia IS Fortissax. There's a few things that could support that.
1. Ancient Dragons are capable of taking human form and whether Fortissax is male or female isn't officially confirmed.
2. When Fortissax dies in the deathbed dream, Fia dies at the same time, creating the Mending Rune of the Death Prince. Mending Runes only come about when their creator dies. We never see Fia in the deathbed dream as we do in the rest of the game.
3. The name Fia can be seen hidden in Fortissax' name. (F)ort(I)ss(A)x.
4. There's no other way Fia could possibly know where Godwyn was laid to rest or so loyal to him that she wouldn't have gone this far to become one with him without having serious feelings for him like Fortissax did. She couldn't have just asked around the Lands Between since she is Tarnished, and Tarnished are attacked on sight.
I think Placidusax’s god might’ve been the three fingers as you use the unalloyed gold needle to quell the flame of frenzy in his arena.

I think maybe the bead things on Astel's back are eggs, and the Astel in consecrated snow field is hatched from one of those eggs.
I could be wrong, but somehow to me it makes sense that astel attacked the city in deeproot dephts. After all, that city looks like an eternal city that is very messed up and without a night sky.
Like the buildings are very similar to nokron and nokstella, but those two still have their skies.
Edit: Why astel would have attacked there and not nokron, idk. Perhaps a mistake or the fingerslayer blade was moved to nokron after (during?) the attack.
Chasity fits well with Morgott, and come to think of it. Amongst his family, he alone remained loyal to the Golden Order and defended Lyndell from the Rogue Shardbearers. Morgott, who was abused his whole life for being an Omen, served the Order who discriminated his kind. Even as King of Lyndell, he never sought more power, only keeping Tarnished in their place. Plus, Chastity is the opposite of Lust, which most would associate with Mohg for... obvious reasons. It makes sense that the twin brothers would represent opposing aspects(Mogh= Lust, Morgott=Chasity).

It's Marika still. While we kill Radagon, and Marika crumbles, she is kept alive in a sense by the greater will but in a state of death at the same time as punishment for the shattering.
Hmmm…since Astel is kinda the “final boss” of Ranni’s quest line perhaps she could be a stand-in for chastity? Her mother was unable to move on from Radagon, yet Ranni chose to reject the position of empyrean which would involve her needing a consort. And her age of stars is basically her chilling up in space where no one knows she’s there. Not sure how to reconcile that with her getting married to the player, but idk, maybe that’s like a sign of her agency or something?
when it comes to the blessing of despair you have bioware fade to black bang cutscene with the dung eater and usher in an age of dung. this immensely shows how evil the dung eater actually is thats canon its probably in the lore. also marikas bed chamber does seem to have a veil similar to shadow trees veil it also reminds me of yo mamas bed chamber.

i feel like all this talk about the strength of all the bosses like astel, which singlehandedly destroyed an entire city makes the Tarnished, who kills all of them singlehandedly, just seem like an absolute badass

I heard a theory that since the Fallingstar Beast looks like a juvenile Astel, the theory goes that the Nox tried to corrupt Astel and its smaller kin across the underground to turn them against the Greater Will. That's why they've got horrible human features.

I think that tremperance and wrath for Godfrey perfectly. Hora loux is very clearly a representation of wrath, no denying that, but Godfrey is essentially just a more restrained and suppressed version of Hora Loux. A ‘tempered’ version. Both personas of the first Elden Lord represented by a virtue and a sin in opposition.
Hoarah Loux is wrath, Godfrey is temperance got it.

Right so about elden beast.
I would argue that "order" is not exactly helping that lands between, since even before marila shattered the elden ring and released the elden beast, the world was still pretty chaotic with constant war. And The people who where under this "order" were not helped, but oppressed and those who opposed it where wiped out.
Right now i can think of the fire giants, the omen, the misbegotten, the crucible knights and the carian royal family as examples of those either oppressed or killed for simply being "not golden". The golden order and the greater will wished to take away those deemed "lesser" to seem perfect, as opposed to actually helping them or being Charitable
Well in lore the golden oder try to help the omens but wasn’t possible, and have many theories that say that the greater will does NOT oder the others do make this genocides since in descriptions of the war against the giants is say that Marika start the war, that is the whole point of gold mask quest, that the gods(Marika and Radagon) are no better than men since well they are human and that the order should be following the Greater will (the god) not Marika and Radagon
