  • The video is the third in a series of 4 episodes that I am doing as a video essay where I uncover the hidden meaning of Wes Anderson's film The French Dispatch.
In this episode, we specifically cover Revisions To A Manifesto, which is about the melodrama and consequences of youthful idealism represented by Timothee Chalamet's character Zeffirelli, and the importance of involving oneself in the subject of their art through the eyes of Lucy (Lucinda) Krementz, played by Frances McDormand.
Make sure to like, subscribe, and hit the bell icon so you don't miss the next episode when it comes out.

The revisions to a manifesto storyline are to convey to things the merging/clashing of the old generation vs the new generations and the fact that the youth while extremely proactive in their socio political voices they’re often misled by their naïve thinking and idealist philosophy over pragmatic and economical solutions

AWESOME. I think you really nailed it honestly, although from what I've seen on the internet some people r upset over how Wes Anderson made the 1968 riots seem like a totally trivial event in French history, and while they probably r sort of right, i also agree with what u say about how at the surface their problems seemed totally trivial, but as the journalist went deeper into the teens lives she came to realize the more complex problems they faced like their compulsory military service and their frustration over their predetermined fates set up by the school system. Idk what to think

2:02 I don’t think it’s trivial though. It’s human instinct. I think it’s more open to interpretation than being “young people have politics I disagree with”.

If you think that there’s no oppressive regime to overthrow that’s probably why you “grew out” of your revolutionary tendencies

Video games aren't really my thing (yet) but if it's got a compelling story with a message, why not give it a whack?
