House of The Dragon (or "HOTD" as the kids are calling it these days) is a spinoff series from the popular Game Of Thrones, chronicling the Dance of Dragons which was a civil war that led to the fall of House Targaryen. It features key characters from both House Targaryen and House Hightower, including Alicent Hightower, Otto Hightower, Daemon Targaryan, Viserys, and of course Rhaenyra herself, as the seeds of war in westeros are sown across season 1 of House of the Dragon.
However, in this Video Essay we explore the underlying themes of HBO's House of the Dragon, and the parallels between George RR Martin's fictional world and our own.
