Are roots vegetables like beet ,turnip etc grown hydroponically safe for human consumption

My beets were grown to eat just like any other hydroponic veggies grown. I also grew onions and they were great. I admit that it was a test to see if they would grow and did fine. I pickled the beets and their gone already. Planning to do it again in the fall. It’s too hot in central Florida now.
