When you grow carrots, soil should be a sandy loam; make sure it is well drained. Heavy soils cause the carrots to mature slower and the roots will end up unattractive and rough. Remember that when you grow carrots, soil should never be rocky because it leads to poor quality roots. Happy gardening🎉🎉
@@szolanek I think the word you're looking for is "till". There are no-till methods of gardening (including carrots), but in general carrots need loose well-draining soil to grow well.
I agree. I tried various containers and the ground, and mine would grow to a small size and stop. I think I need looser soil. Also, I used starter cups, and the crowding was a problem.
And if your container isn't deep enough, as soon as the carrot root touches the bottom of the container, it causes many of the carrots to split in two and sometimes three roots!! Happened to me one year so I asked the nurseryman why and that's what he said. Better to find a style with shorter carrot to keep roots off the bottom.
Everyone watching needs to consider that this is probably a tropical climate where they get good rain and their soil is most likely rich and not chemically treated. I'm still going to try this. It looks really good.
Interesting, I thought it said it was sand dirt mix, then cow dung, then sand dirt mix. That’s not great soil on its own. I’d be willing to bet that in NW Ohio I have better soil than that as stock soil in my backyard.
@@Andrew_Sherman cow manure is very rich in nutrients; the sand ensure the soil does not pack down around the carrots. They get deformed when having to force their way thru packed and/or rocky soil.
Carrots don't need rich soil, they love sandy soil because it drains fast and is easy for them to push down into. All growing soil is "chemically treated." Adding fertilizer is chemical treatment, even cow dung, you're adding chemicals like nitrogen that the plants need. The only likely difference is growing season and how much watering you have to do.

Of course I have a hundred questions but then it puts me right back into overthinking AGAIN... LOL Frankly, you're just simply AMAZING! Thank you so much for sharing dear man.
Some people have asked some good questions sir, why you don't answer? Like, the buckets has holes in it and do you water every day? Do you thin the carrots (which I am not sure what it means but I suppose do you take some mini plants out to leave some space for the others to grow)? My question is, only one seed every few cm/inches or two /three/few? Thank you if you can reply.
Thank you for helping me gather good questions. Here I will answer some of your questions. - Watering young, immature carrot shoots is done quite often every 2-3 days when it is hot. As the bushes grow, the frequency of watering is reduced: they are watered when the soil dries out, once every 4-5 days. - After 1 week, the seeds have germinated, and after a few more days you can prune the bad plants, leaving only 1 to 2 trees in each hole, to concentrate nutrients on the strongest plants. - To ensure good germination, you should sow 2 to 3 seeds per 1 cm. When they sprout well, you can prune them to plant elsewhere.

@@hisimage724 Like most, I should think, I watch this great channel because I am not an experienced (true) gardener, just starting veg growing this year, including carrots. Thinning correctly is obviously important, it being impossible to sow seeds at the required distance. Some say cut off the foliage on adjacent plants to thin, which I tried. Loosing over half my crop seemed wasteful and, with multiple shoots from each carrot, it was hard to effectively do. For that reason, I risked disturbing the remaining carrot and replanted the rest, hoping they will take. Soon time to check. What do you do?

Probably from him, because they must be magic seeds. Normal, regular carrot germinates usually after three weeks.
@@bowhunter7485 according to a list I have, it takes 6.0 days to germinate in 30C (86F) which is the fastest they will germinate. Next is 8.6 days in 34c (95F), and the seeds wont germinate at 104F at all, so this is interesting.
@@bowhunter7485 - Why would you say that? I did not read {or hear} anything anywhere that would even hint at any claim of how quick or slow the seeds would germinate...
@@sherylsmiles141 @3:05 wait for it.
Those are about the best looking carrots I ever saw. Great job!! Thanks for sharing.
AMAZING! At what point did you thin the carrots?
Love this carrots in containers. We do potatoes in grow bags. Thanks!
Very informative, thank you. Please what did you spray after closing the seeds? Water or chemicals?
It was water.
Did you put holes 1:16 in the bottom of the containers? What is the rack in the bottom of the bucket for?
Wonderful video let me try with my family because we have been watching. God bless you as you continue sharing with us other discovers in farming.👏👏👏
Thank you so much
Super Danke 👍😊
Haben die Eimer ablauflöcher?
It seems that the thinning was done before the 20th day, leaving only about eight seedlings in each container
Still not thinned at 45 days, but were by 75 days,
Not only that. How come there were no signs of weeds that grew. At harvest time, the carrots were so easy to pull. I reckon that they were gathered, chosen, and replanted into the soil and watered for 5 days, then they made the video.
@@danielcarino6395 No. growing carrots in containers about 8-10" tall in sand or very loose soil is well-known. He just presents in a nice visual manner.
@@danielcarino6395 There's always people who just have to comment in a negative manner. And sometimes people talk but aren't saying anything.

Thank You so much for sharing the video. I have enjoyed it from beginning to end. Warm regards from Panama.

Boa noite, Que maravilha. Sem química. Gostei muito da ideia de plantar em vasos. Gratidão.
Those are huge carrots! We were looking to growing carrots in our apartment, but I haven’t seen yet if the sun shines on the back porch yet. We were thinking of potatoes too. Awesome yield.
Beautiful carrots!
Thank you ❤😊
WOW nice garden and fresh carrots to plant very easy job I will try to day.
Could you pls show what all things you mixed in the soil? Also thining of plants?

Great stuff, I've had some monster carrots this year as well 🙏
Nice 👍
Wooow, unbelievable, the way of your teaching and making video, it's imaginings, must say, wooow. I will do it soon. Thanks. Yasmin.
goood
Conheço muitas pessoas que tem quintais e não plantam nada, a preguiça não permite.
Verdade
Wow! Good job.
Do you have holes under the buckets?
Do you water them regularly?
And what is "Golden soil"?
If you grow carrots in big containers do you need to have drainage holes in bottom? I'm going to try either the short variety or 6-8 inch one. Would I need drainage for the 6-8 inch? If you plant in July how long does it take before harvest?
you should still make drainage holes for your pot. If you plant in July, around October you can harvest carrots.
Wow I will try this next time I spend time in Florida!!!
Very nice video. How to avoid carrot fly and how often to water
Ok thank you

I really appreciated the urban agriculture section at 2:28. It’s perfect for small space gardening! 🌿
Memang sangat menginspirasi tapi kayaknya sulit untuk ditiru dikarenakan membutuhkan waktu yang cukup lama ❤
You've picked a good variety of carrot for container growing. Judging by the number of questions about the carrot seed, you would help many people by naming the carrot variety.
I'd also like to know if you are growing these carrots in hot weather (Vietnam...summer?);
I never knew carrot 🥕 had a seed 😮😮
@@BenjaminStones-bq2hz where did u think carrots came from?
He grew them in Vietnam
Drainage holes?
@@rosemaryus-ct6151 Hmm... are you being unkind? If you are it's unnecessary. Potatoes are a prime example of not having seeds, in the sense of the word.

Beautiful carrots! Well done!
Thank you so much 😃
Interesant informația ! Bravo, sănătate și succes în viitor !
Very helpful thank you. Do you thin the seedlings at a certain size or do you just grow the right number?
Looks like he didn't thin the seedlings at any time because he spaced them out well during sowing.
@@tito6556 He had to have thinned them out at some point, because in several of the earlier stages of their growth, there were far more carrots growing in the tubs than were at the very end. I thought that he should have shown the thinning-out process instead of showing the "magical" appearance of those giant carrots at the end of the video.
@robertgappa5828 I was hoping he didn't 😆. I agree he must have thinned out at some point which is what most videos I have seen say. Oh well...I have left mine a little bit too late, I did thin but not too many. Hoping to have a 'magical' harvest like his.
First, your smile and simplicity brings a smile to my face, TY! Next I start laughing at your video, not at you but at me. I'm an over thinker on pretty much everything. I gotta have all the right ingredients, containers, soil, watch every video to make sure I do it exactly to get that perfect product, so that by the time I gather it all up it costs 10x more than if I bought in the store... then I look at your video and you just grow with what you have around you that's cost affective with incredibly simple approach in all that you achieved so sweetly.
Please how can I get the seeds to plant?
@@TEOGarden THANK YOU!! I LOVE your channel!! It's my favorite of all the gardening channels I watch. Love your smile and happy music, simplicity of growing techniques, and your spirit of love for people and the earth.

Lovely! Did you thin the carrots, because some starts were awfully close together when they sprouted?
Thanks for sharing.
I always benefit from your videos. The simplicity you bring to home gardening is awesome and very encouraging.
Please, why did you use the golden colour sand? I'll really appreciate it if you answer.
Golden soil I believe is sand, keeps soil loose. If soil heavy or thick grows slow. Just saying
I think the translation is meant to be "garden soil". (Sand is mixed in with the soil to make a good growing medium for carrots.)
Do you mean garden or golden, if golden, what is that? What works best if u have no cows? How many timesdo you water daily?
Do Not let them dry out ,till they are established. Must always be moist. They are very fragile and dry up quick until established. Notice he doesn,t even tamp the soil down over the seeds so they can easily push up through the soil.
Класс.переделаю крыше,и на мансарде буду выращивать.
It appears that at some point, you thinned out the carrots. You should have shown that .
Exactly
Yes, I was waiting for it.
Figure it out for yourself, if your a true Gardner you would know the simple steps. Js
@hisimage724 Wow. It bothered you that much??? What a pissy little mouse you are. His videos are not for seasoned gardeners. By the amount of people agreeing with me, he should have included it. I sincerely hope you get the help you need for all your anger you're holding in. You're the definition of a troll.
