Polystyrene is toxic when heated (e.g. in sunlight) or exposed to water over longer periods. Don't do this, use a food grade polymer instead, it's more expensive but you won't poison yourself.
Vegetables change the taste if done this way and the over all experience in mouth is different then when planted in soil . So i stopped using Hydro . there is a reason why plants grow in soil as original :)
But according to my opinion I think there is no natural these days because even the soil needs chemicals to produce a perfect plants we supposed to use fertilizers and pesticides killers and if you don't use anything your production will not look good and will be having holes because it is going to be eaten by all kinds of pesticides
Agree but now days soils are mixed with so many fertiliser and so many waste content even you can’t rely on market fruits and vegetables they also made with usage of pesticides so for time being you will not able to eat it but after that it become familiar to you
Try planting this way with soil in these cups. And then fill the water with liquid organic fertilizer. I did it and the vegetables grow successfully with less watering. The taste is good as usual.

You can re-use the water, but only on other plants (like in your pot plants, or ones you have growing in the ground, etc). For the hydroponic setup like this, you should be completely draining the water out and replacing it once a week, replacing it with new liquid food. I personally would also add bubbler stones under each plant, to provide oxygen to the roots, as while some plants are fine just growing in water like this, some need more air, or they will drown and die. I use the big gold ball bubbler stones. They provide a LOT of bubbles, which is what you want. You can absolutely get all of this stuff online if you need to. I did. :D

Since the first commenter didn’t seem to understand your question: No pump required with this method. Thats the beauty of it. You can lake this type of set up with what you have available and without needing to power it.
Why would you use anything other than natural sunlight...unless you lived in a cave? This is a stupid question. You CAN use grow lights, but if you've got the ability to just put them outside like this...why wouldn't you?
This one might not be organic, HOWEVER...you CAN get hydroponic solutions that ARE organic. I use one of these myself. It too comes in a 2 part. So there ARE options out there if you want to keep your crops 100% organic.

Do you have to have one of those aeration pumps from a fish tank to do this? Also what hydroponic solution do you use?
Using fishes is different. It’s called aquaponic.
Since the first commenter didn’t seem to understand your question:
No pump required with this method. Thats the beauty of it. You can lake this type of set up with what you have available and without needing to power it.
Do you need sun light or other light for the vegetables?
Why would you use anything other than natural sunlight...unless you lived in a cave?
This is a stupid question.
You CAN use grow lights, but if you've got the ability to just put them outside like this...why wouldn't you?
@@TheMurlocKeeper can one put under a carport. they would not be in direct sunlight. more in the shade.
Pode plantar todo tipo de hortaliça dessa forma ?
Thanx when retire from work I want to try this....

Can we say that this is pure organic?
no
personally, l don't tink you can call this organic.....
This one might not be organic, HOWEVER...you CAN get hydroponic solutions that ARE organic.
I use one of these myself. It too comes in a 2 part.
So there ARE options out there if you want to keep your crops 100% organic.
