  • Growing beetroot is easy and rewarding. In this video, I cover 3 ways to increase beetroot seed germination rates that will give you a more consistent germination rate and a more bountiful harvest.
Beetroot is a wonderfully diverse root crop that is easy to grow, very nutritious and is a staple in many cultures and dishes around the world. What makes growing beetroot so great is how easy it is to grow and in what a wide range of conditions it can grow in. Here in Cape Town, South Africa, we can grow beetroot 12 months out of the year!
When growing beetroot from seed there are some things that you need to take into account to make your journey of growing beets more successful and more rewarding. Beets are notorious for their uneven germination rates. Using 3 simple steps you can easily improve beetroot seed germination rates.
    These 3 steps are:
    - soaking beetroot seeds in water
    - multi sowing beets
    - sowing beetroot in modules
What's great about this video is that each of these steps above contains even more information on growing beets so it is jam-packed with insights and knowledge I am sharing.

Great video. Can i bury slightly sprouted seeds underground? Will they continue growing?

@@Mbengoz yes, you can 100% do that and they will grow well. Just be very gentle to not damage the growing tip or main root 🌱

Just wondering about soaking time. Might be a little helpful to suggest just how long of soak time should be best.

Hey Briar, I'm so sorry I thought I mentioned it, but must over overlooked that. For best results you want to soak the seeds for 24hrs 🌱

@@MySustainabilityJourney Thanks for the reply, maybe you did mention it and I just missed it. Wouldn't be the first time I bumped my head. Take care.

Great video. And I love your white seed tray! Do you know where I’m able to get one similar?

Hey, thanks so much, they are great at keeping temp's quite consistent. All the nurseries in South Africa sell them, but you can also look at hydroponic shops in your area?
