Just what I needed to hear.....perfect for long distance riding. I'm planning to purchase a quatrovelo after this situation is over. Especially after you've mentioned that it's comfortable to ride. Since I've had various surgeries. I also look to use it as a way to do advertising for the local coffee shops.
Great video and review!! Boats and velomobiles my passion from childhood. Just bought my boat recently after 45 years of dreaming and living on it too..maybe one day also a velomobile..this one by far my favorite too now..
keep up the great work! Since watching your channel I've always wanted one. I live in the United States. They do have a shop in Texas that sells all kinds of velos. But I live in St Louis. I have an old school tour de france bike riding about 100,000 miles total. So if I got one of those maybe I wouldn't be as tired Lol. Yes keep posting have fun and stay safe Love the channel!
Conti just make iron tyres I love them for so many applications I use Gatorskins, I know they’re not “fast” but they’re faster than any punctured tyre.
thanks: lateral is the anti-sway bar, going forward is the traction bar, 2 dampeners, 2 air-bags. 2 axles go into the cassette hub from tri-kit. I installed sturmey-archer drum brakes on my quattrovelo rear.
Excelent review! I can't wait for my Quattro to arrive. But unfortunately because of this current situation in the world, it may take longer than expected :(
Dear Saukki, Velo-ads (sorry, I'm not sure your name) and others... I am 23 yrs old right now... looking to buy velomobile in few years' after I save some money (I am currently medical student and very cash-strapped for a few years at least). Do you agree that demand for velomobiles keeps increasing? Do you know of any changes the few niche companies that produce velomobiles are making so they can keep up with the increasing popularity? Do you know of any centralized place where used velomobiles might be sold?
Is there any suspension on this trike? You show air bellows - does that significantly soak up hitting a pothole or uneven road seams? Are there an air bellows for each rear wheel? I am requiring full suspension using air shocks not what ICE uses (elastomers).
Been thinking alot what velomobile to get.. I'm currently using a regular DF bike to get to work and everything else. Sold my car a couple years ago, can't stand driving a car just to boring Haha.. I used to have a HPV streetmashine but it was just to slow for me. I like the idea to get a velomobile instead, a quatrovelo with e-assist. It's pretty hilly where I live so don't think I will enjoy a velomobile without e-assist. Would be nice also to be abit faster then I'm at the moment with a DF.
Really enjoy your videos, John! You mentioned charging your phone while using the GPS; you probably already know this, but you should never run an app on your phone while charging, it will dramatically shorten the overall life of the battery, as LI ion batts are designed to either charge or discharge, but not both at the same time.
I will do eventually,to keep you going until i eventually get round to it ,here is something that is almost there.th-cam.com/video/AH_gsuNHdEc/w-d-xo.html
Wonderful review of a wonderful machine. Glad you love it, and thanks for sharing it with us. That much fun in one place is probably illegal in some countries!!!
Hello John, Brilliant review! I’m considering buying the QuattroVelo without the drivetrain and install a pedal generator, with 2 Grin Tech 1,000watt single-sided hub motors. What are your thoughts? Cheers, Giovanni
Great review John!! I have ordered a QV and cancelled twice (once in my velo infancy, second time during the beginning of covid)...I am now considering placing another order...but I don't know that I really need 2 bikes and I'm not sure I want to part with the speed of the Quest. hmmm
Hi and thanks, the Mosquito I have not really ridden it on long test, plus there wasn't a body ready at the time. So I can't give an honest answer at the moment.
@@velo-ads4206 Your videos are really informative Thanks on the update on the mosquito if u get to ride one with a body do post a video Thanks and have a good day
I'm curious, have you tried, or thought of using Primo Comets on this? I find them pretty puncture resistant...technically, probably, avoidant, but I only use them on a 2 wheeled 'bent. They are pretty close to slicks, but seem to last a while, I find.
Looks good John. Day 6 of my isolation so good to see new things to watch - thanks for posting. I got flu but was unsure what it was so, NHS 111 said isolate so have done. Turns out it was flu and not the dreaded Lurgy so after tomorrow I can go get some air and milk! Power assist for carrying Theo or a set of peddles fro him to get turning...lol. I just some lights and a backlight that is a brake/indicator light, excellent stuff
Loose nuts can generally be avoided by using LockTite. If that doesn't work I'd switch to nylock style nuts. If none of this works there's something seriously wrong with the design.
Hey, just wondering. I just found your channel, and been watching. Those bike mobiles are amazing. A year or 2 ago you chose the qv above the df. Would you stil buy the df now? I'm thinking to buy one. Never ride a bike like that or a recumbent. I'm just looking to get fast at my work with less effort then my normal bike. Also want to ride in all kind of weather.
I am super happy with the QV and would not go back on my decision,if you want to travel really fast to work then maybe the DF is for you? My advice would be to try as many different models as poss before making your decision.
How do u secure it if yr going to the shops or somewhere where u can’t store it? And why is the steering wheel so small. It looks like u can’t steer it probably like a normal bike.
Good to see that you are keeping the Wheels Turning, John. The Engineering on the Quatro is one Notch up. Hope that this Global issue blows over soon and that we all can return back to Normality, riding our Bents.
What is the music on the intro and outro? I love it. Quattrovelo is lovely as well. I think I'd really like the four wheels. I like delta trikes such as the Hase Kettwiesel which have two at the back of course. If they are both driven then there's no slipping or anything at the back on wet leafy roads which you can get with tadpoles. With the Quattrovelo I guess you have all the advantages of a tadpole and all the advantages of a delta!
The gentleman in the video bought himself an orange helmet one day, and put it in his shed where he kept all the rest his bike stuff. There, in the dead of night and in all silence, it started growing and stretching... It didn't stop until his whole bike was covered in orange coloured carbon fibre. OMG, the monster is alive!
I was going to go test ride quatrovelo, but once the whole situation with COVID-19 occurred. The test ride was canceled. What's the level of coordination does it take to get used the the Quatrovelo's steering and other settings? The reason why I ask, is because I plan to purchase one.
Alas I live in a state in the US (Washington) where anything more than 3 wheels isn't a bike by law and requires all the stuff we want to avoid with this. That and the cost, which I can completely understand as these are quite a job to caste and make...if I were a rich man. However I do enjoy watching you enjoy yours, especially with you son!
Tark, I live in Washington. And, one of the ways that my doctor has suggested to me is to get a statement saying that it's your alterative physical therapy. Then go to the DMV and have them look at the quatrovelo.
Also in WA... while technically this is not a bike by law... thus not having the protection of bing a "bicycle" under traffic laws... no one is going to mess with you. The only downside is that someone could complain to the local city/county and try to get an ordinance outlawing it from the street. They aren't illegal... they just presently do not have "The right to the road". Local towns, counties etc... can NOT outlaw bicycles... but like skateboards and roller blades... it is possible some asshat could push to get these outlawed in a specific area. Not likely considering how rare they are and the likely hood that you won't come up against a cop except for the first 6 months or so that you are riding it and they pull you over not knowing what it is or that it is human powered. Probably won't even notice that it is 4 wheeled... just explain it is a pedal powered vehicle... probably just call it a bike... "Pedals, wheels... it's a bike!" and move on with your life. I've only ever been pulled over once by a cop on one of my recumbents and it was because he was certain it has a motor since I was going so fast with a front fairing, tailbox and body sock. He was the laughing stock of the department by the next day since I'd been commuting with it for about 6 months and had been having coffee at a little cafe with a bunch of other cops every morning on my way in to work... who all had already gotten their questions answered with it parked out front. Much like when I ride with electric assist... no one cares that I'm going WAY over the 20mph assist limits... I'm not 'in the way'.
Two quick questions..What size chainring do you have? I specified a 75 for mine with a mountain drive. And do you have the standard paint to the metallic?
don't think there is a specific minimum, it should be possible for most adults to ride either, may require short cranks and/or adapting the seat to move it forwards
