Saukki, I just read a post here criticizing your English as being heavily accented. Just a comment that I would like to share that I think quite the opposite - I think your English is excellent, your accent does not interfere, and am happy you use this forum to practice your English speaking. I think you should take pride in your ability to speak excellent, lightly accented English and can communicate in that language clearly and with no doubt what message you are conveying. While the occasional use of Finnish with subtitles is OK when other native speakers are involved in your videos, I am pleased to hear your English in your videos and hope you continue in the same vein as you have in the past. I also love your videos as watching them is a great "armchair" way to see Finland and the beautiful countryside in which you live and ride!
Thanks for the comment. I have plans to make few videos in Finnish just to see what kind of respond I’ll get from you, the viewers. That’s just something I’ve wanted to test and I think now would be good time to do so. But I’m not going to completelly change my channel to Finnish.
People like that are morons, best to simply ignore them. I live in the States, print journalism had to lower the standard "fifth grade" to "third grade" English because of the growing illiteracy rate. My neighbors can barely understand you if you "use those big words." My partner and I both speak several languages, very few others then immigrants speak anymore then one. We were both born here but his family is third generation and mine many more. Just in my family we speak Irish my first language, German, Dutch and English. You would be hard pressed to find any adult in Europe and many other country's in that part of the world who are not mutilingual. I lived in Singapore for many years before coming back to the Stares and it's the same, most people speak four to five languages. I've noticed especially here on you tube and other forms of social media, only English speaking persons are very quick to criticize others for their accents, dialects or even their certain pronunciation of vowels and consonants. Hence my comment, best to just ignore the morons. Most of them are trolls "needing" a response or just some hateful person who comments and "moves on."
@@TheVelomobileChannel I am American. Your English is perfect. I do wish you would lower the background music because sometimes it's difficult to hear the music and what you are saying at the same time. I like how well made this video is. Looks polished in some parts. It's a pity Velomobiles aren't more mainstream, though. Not many people get to see this channel in the first place.
As the owner of QV#13- that is a good review Saukki! I've recently fitted e-assist on mine because of health problems but prior to that I've done some long (unassisted) rides-- e.g. Summer 2017 from north of London to Lyon in France whilst carrying all my own camping gear- (Total 2612.1km on GPS Weighed baggage 21.62 kg! My weight 62kG (started at 67kG !)
Thank you Saukki for all your videos. Next time can you please perform standard tests to see by what value is the speed of Quattrovelo slower then the Quest for the same input power, say 250 watts.
The more I see of the quattrovelo makes me want one! I do believe that vehicle will be with me in my near future, going to spend the money on a good velo, might as well go all the way to four wheels )
The waiting time is now down to about 10 months, In my case. This is the link to the order list, you might find it interesting. en.velomobiel.nl/orderboek/index.php Rhein 228 has some helpful reviews on U-tube that helped me make up my mind th-cam.com/video/iiJX2qH2gas/w-d-xo.html
Yes, it´s mine and i like it :) I see your test ride was without the windshield. With the windshield the airflow adjustment made with the visor is even more effective. I don´t think of four wheel tracks as much of a problem, a bike with 20" wheels won´t ever be a good snow vehicle, even with just one track (and fitting larger wheels in there... i don´t think so ;)). On the other hand, i don´t know if there would be any downside from making the track widths the same F/R...
Niko, 1st Gorgeous QV. If you would not think me rude for asking. How much did your QV cost you? (an estimate price please). Saukki, Thank you for sharing your love of all things Velo.
I have the Quattrovelo since Marth. And I'm happy with it. Because I'm not a racer but more a tour guy. My Quattrovelo is the same green all over. And I called it The GreenThing. Video's are comming soon.
It depends on the uphill. If you can get decent speed from the previous downhill and carry that momentum to the uphill, then you can get quite far on that uphill without much extra effort. But if you are talking about long mountain climbs, then it’s little bit different. I recently bought a Quattrovelo myself (check my latest videos) and I got it with Mountain Drive. With MD, you can almost climb to a tree. It might take longer than with regular upright bike, but you don’t have to worry about loosing balance in slow speed. Nowdays you can get E-assist directly from the manufacturer. Check en.velomobiel.nl.
Saukki, so do you like the Quest more than the Quattrovelo? I have been looking at Velomobiles and am trying to decide which one I want to buy. Me and my boys are taking a trip to the Netherlands where a few of them are made and this will give us a chance to test drive several. I can't remember if the Quest comes from NL or not but maybe I can find one to test when I'm there. Anyway, I await your answer. And thank you for all of your great videos. I have no problem understanding you and I appreciate that you make videos in english. Cheers.
Quest and Quattro comes from the same factory. Just visit Velomobiel.nl at Dronten, so you can test ride both of them. It all comes down to what you need. If you need a lot of luggage space or very stable velomobile for curvy roads then the Quattrovelo is better. But if you don't need such a huge luggage space, but want more speed, then the Quest is better, because it's faster of those two.
Still, the Quattrovelo looks a tiny bit odd to my eyes (sorry), but it seems to be a very practical bike for touring. My favorite velomobiles are Waw and Cycles Jv LeMans. The LeMans should be made more road-ready though... Thanks for a great clip, once again :)
This one has the head-in hood, which is basically same as the racing hood. You can get additional weather protection and better aerodynamics by using the included foam cover.
My QV was weighted at Nokia. It was a system with 3 scales, and didn´t seem too reliable, but the weight of my QV was 34kg (options affecting the weight: Schlumpf Mountain Drive and the hood top).
From what I've seen of it, I like the features. I am a function over form sort of guy, and I'm usually able to see the beauty in something that is designed to work well even if it is not conventionally attractive. However, the looks of this thing do not even make sense to me from a functional point of view. The headlight bumps at the front create air drag, and they look hideous. The hood that goes over the rider appears to offer no aerodynamic advantage, but it probably protects the rider from the elements. It does not look attractive to me, I think it could be modified to improve its appearance. That orange and green color scheme is one that I would not have chosen, but that is purely a matter of taste.
"The hood that goes over the rider appears to offer no aerodynamic advantage, but it probably protects the rider from the elements." I, on the other hand can not see how the hood would not be an aerodynamic advantage, especially when a windshield is used. But yes, i would also choose it just to protect from the elements.
I wonder how much air is being caught by the hood. The windshield certainly directs most of it around, but some has to come back behind the rider's head and get trapped back there. The hood would be aerodynamically perfect if it sealed the whole cockpit, but since it leaves so much open, there has to be more drag.
For daily use i like this solution a lot more than the aerodynamically perfect fully sealed cockpit, but you are of course right, it would be even more aerodynamic. Actually, before the 200m sprint i was thinking about taping the area behind the visor closed...
I can understand what you are saying. For rider comfort, this more open design is probably better. There is more cooling airflow, and the windshield probably has less fogging.
The headlight bumps are meant to position the lights in a higher position than usual in velomobiles. Lights in a higher position are more effective (in the sense of seeing amd being seen).

Complainant about accent is probably monolingual.
Cheers Saukki another great Vlog showing all the Qv has to offer, I'm really interested in these videos as I'm on the waiting list :)

Jeff M It cost about 9000€. Most notable optional parts were the Schlumpf Mountain drive and the ”racing hood”.

Very Cool Saukki. How does the width of the QV compared to the Quest?
According to velomobiel.nl the width should be about the same as the Quest.
Terve! This "bike" looks very interesting...how hard is it to go uphill with it? Can it be equipped with an electric help motor?
It depends on the uphill. If you can get decent speed from the previous downhill and carry that momentum to the uphill, then you can get quite far on that uphill without much extra effort. But if you are talking about long mountain climbs, then it’s little bit different.

Hello, from all options of Velomobile, what is your best opinión? velocity, estable, Weight, uphill, downhill, Reliable. Thank you
Does the quatrovelo have an additional racing hood or some kind of weather protection?
This one has the head-in hood, which is basically same as the racing hood. You can get additional weather protection and better aerodynamics by using the included foam cover.
Is there any weight comparison between the Quest and the Quattrovelo?
My QV was weighted at Nokia. It was a system with 3 scales, and didn´t seem too reliable, but the weight of my QV was 34kg (options affecting the weight: Schlumpf Mountain Drive and the hood top).
And few years back in Nokia my Quest was 31 kg including the racing hood.
