    This is the best video on TH-cam about how to negotiate your job offer. Salary is often a very inflexible component of a job offer! Negotiating merit increases is very wise, and could reveal a lot about what life is like at the company down the road

    Very good coverage on negotiating other than directly negotiating on salary. Very helpful, thanks for this video.

    Your videos and information are so thorough and helpful! Thank you for taking the time to make them! What about 401k contributions as another thing to negotiate?

      Hi there, Gwendolyn! Thank you! Unfortunately, 401k match isn’t something folks can negotiate. They’re highly regulated plans that companies have to audit on an annual basis, not only for accuracy, but also to ensure that they aren’t favoring one group over another.

    Is rolling PTO to next year required by law in Fl? I worked in a company who would tell us upfront If we don’t use our PTO by the end of the fiscal year you lose it. You don’t get paid for it and it doesn’t roll up to next year.

    Is it reasonable to ask for a sign on bonus I negotiate my offer and they accept? Or would you only recommend negotiating the bonus or other aspects of benefits if they cannot budge much on the salary ?

    What about negotiate for a better job title? Does this put you on low end of the pay band giving to the opportunity to gain larger merit raises?

    • @JanellKnowsMoney
      @JanellKnowsMoney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can absolutely negotiate for a better job title! Sometimes organizations will have internal titles & "marketing" or client facing/external titles. So, even if they have to keep your internal title at something like Account Executive, they may allow you to have a client facing title of Senior Account Executive. If you do negotiate your title up, it is possible that the pay will remain the same, which may do you a disservice, as like you said, it would put you at the low end of the pay band for the higher level job. I would try to negotiate both title & pay hand in hand, if possible. From what I've seen, once you're at an organization, even if your pay is at the low end of the pay band, you don't always get higher increases. This is possible sometimes, but not always. It really depends on the company. Lmk if you have any questions about this!

      I really wanted to do this but I thought it would make me seem petty or like I had a need to feel important. I thought it may allow me to ask for a higher salary in the future when applying for positions somewhere else, which I will be if they don't give me the increase I"m asking for.
