Trust me honey, the underrepresented apply all the time. We just don't look like you, so there's always a caveat or asterisk behind our resumes. It's not a coincidence that everyone you work with looks like you. Its by design.

Just stumbled up on this video because I am now up for my second 1:1 meeting with my manager and I am confused. My team consists of 4 persons and I am the only one that has been scheduled for 1:1 meetings. I´ve been at my current position for 20 years and my manager has been at the company for 5 months. I do not have any trust in him, I don´t think he has any idea of what our team does on a daily basis. I feel pinpointed and not in a good way. What to do? Help!

REAL QUESTION FOR YOU JANELL: what if someone was lowballed after being given the "welcome" shake at final 3rd interview and then anticipating a start date & getting the call for the pre employment vetting process (occ med testing etc.) for hire... you are offered well below 1. what the job is worth, what the salary was posted at, what was initially discussed, etc. BUT you accept bc you are 1. personally in btwn a rock-and-a-hard-place (need the job), you were initially very excited to join, and there is definite room for growth/ moving up. HOWEVER the final number offered from HR is insulting, and sort of a "pull the wool over" scenario (having waited 3+ weeks & been excited, etc.) . A salary that normally wouldn't even apply for if it was posted at that rate, and never have made that less in the history of one's employment. Q:: How to up pay after hired. Or is a person plain old screwed?

Who speaks this "litterally" to their boss/coworkers? Always find these videos about career/professional dev pushing these ultra-formal and unnatural discussions and wording, but this one is top of the list.. I don't want to just come off as I'm just hating, but your content would benefit from toning down the "corporate" lingo and bringing these questions examples and discussion topics in a much more "natural" form and turning down on the heavily scripted conversation examples

These are great advise for decent business owners who value hard working folks and want to share the rewards. Most bosses and owners run with fear or anxiety so you always feel like you are barely making it or praisrd just enough so you don't leave.

I never knew what I wanted to do as a job, even today I don't know. I have looked at Project, HR, Supply Chain, Fraud manager positions, and their counterparts. I have yet to find a job I like. My dream place is on a farm that I run with my family on a valley somewhere in Tennessee. But I think this is only a dream of what I want to do outside of work. My ideal job would be one that I can work remotely, I can potentially create my own business, work anywhere in the world, pay is enough $80k+, has many different avenues like hr manager is to compensation analyst. I also never want to be in sales, I dislike to be customer facing, and I need a boss that isn't overbearing

Great video! Thanks so much. I haven't received a job offer yet, but I've had several interviews with the hiring manager for a position I'm interested in. I have found out that I seriously lowballed my salary requirements (approximately $20,000 less than the lower part of the organization's range) when I gave my range during the second interview recently. The reason I know this is because the job is posted on LinkedIn and the salary range is included in the posting. If I get an offer that's within my range, any suggestions on how to incorporate their LinkedIn range into an email?
