    I loved this idea, but as usual I changed it up a little. I used the soft tubs of cream cheese with chives. Mixed it with the cooked sausage and let it cool down some. Spread it onto puff pastry, added shredded cheese and then added chopped spring onions (green onions). And then rolled up, etc. Sure came out good 👍

    Thank you Noreen! It's always nice to have something new (to our family) for an occasion. Something that everybody isn't tired of seeing the same old, same old. I'm going to try these today since I happen to have the ingredients (except the super sharp grated cheese, which I can get in a couple hours when the store opens) on hand and if they are as good as they look, they'll be on the superbowl menu. I'm sure they will as your recipes never disappoint.

    instead of spices in the sausage, can I use hot sausage? looks good I will be giving these a try. I like your recipes because they are simple that I can try and don't have to look for some kind of spice or things I've never heard of and be looking for all over the grocery store.

    YUM. Do you think adding some scallion to the meat/cheese mixture would be a hit or miss? Would it be too oniony with the onion powder? I guess I need to experiment but don't really have the budget to do it.

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Personally, I would have added either chopped onion or green onions. Family would not have enjoyed that so I kept it plain. I think adding some onions would be delicious!

    I bought Pillsbury puff pastry in the fridge section at Hannaford supermarket 3 days ago. The other New England supermarket chain that carries it is Market Basket.

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patricia Norton That must be regional. I have never seen that brand here in NC nor in AZ when I lived there. From what their website says it is a frozen product. Thanks for letting us know. The crescent roll dough in the refrigerator section is very different from puff pastry.

    If you have never had Conecuh sausage from Alabama and can get it where you live it is so good, especially grilled with bar-be-que sauce Do you mind if we pin your recipes to our pinterest boards? I find it easier to find recipes I want to cook that way. My memory is short and I don't always remember who made what when but I know I have a Board for recipes that sound delicious.

    this is probably a silly question but what does the cream cheese actually do as far as flavoring goes? Does it make it taste richer?

    OMGosh, these look marvelous, Noreen! I wonder if these would freeze well if you baked off both pans from the start and just froze the extras already cooked? Thank for a great and easy recipe! MJ

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please read the blog/description box. I go into detail why you should not bake these before freezing. If you watched the entire video you will see that I also addressed this issue in the video. Thanks for the comment.

  • @billswindle8311

    These look insanely yummy, Noreen. I'm a very novice chef. I was wondering about the puff pastry. Do you have a favorite brand? Is it labeled such at the grocery store? In the freezer section or where I can find the biscuits? Thanks!

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Puff pastry is in the freezer section, usually near the pie crust. I usually buy Pepperidge Farm brand, but that is usually the only brand that is available. this is definitely not the same as refrigerated biscuit dough.

  • @bethbilous4720

    I would like to do this recipe with italian spicy sausage, and italian cheese, would you recommend adding the cream cheese to this recipe. Otherwise might be too dry.

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend making this as written before making unknown changes that could impact the outcome. I do not recommend leaving out the cream cheese. It is what holds this mixture together.

    OMG! I need these now!😛 Do you think adding jalapeños to this would still taste good with the sausage? It would sort of be like a stuffed pepper.

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would only add them in very small quantities and along with the sausage while you are cooking it. Adding too many additional ingredients is going to muck up the works and your pinwheels will be more like blobs.

  • @crowdedisolation
    @crowdedisolation 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've never met a sausage I didn't like. Oddly enough I've never used puff pastry. I've never seen it in the store. I'll have to look extra hard next time I go grocery shopping.

  • @apriltx2010
    @apriltx2010 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    These look amazing!! I'm giving these a try for breakfast one morning. Could you use bacon instead of sausage?

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not. These work because it is a paste or spread. You should not use bacon, either raw or cooked, because it will render too much fat and cause the puff pastry to be soggy, greasy and flaccid. I highly recommend you stick with the sausage.

    • @apriltx2010
      @apriltx2010 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!

    • @thibodeaux99
      @thibodeaux99 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought about adding some cooked bacon - chopped - to the sausage like I do when I make sausage gravy. I would also add some chopped spinach only because I like to kid myself by thinking if I add some spinach, it will be more healthy and I can eat 3 instead of 1. Hey, whatever works. These look delicious and I will try these this Super Bowl. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful recipes with us.

    Is there something I could use to substitute the cream cheese? Due to a food allergy we don't buy cream cheese. But this sounds so good I want to try it!

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. Have you tried organic cream cheese? How about Neufchatel? Or do you have a dairy allergy? I am guessing not due to the fact you aren't also asking about the cheddar.

    • @staceycoates1418
      @staceycoates1418 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Noreen's Kitchen Actually it is a dairy allergy but regular cheese doesn't seem to activate it. Things like yogurt, sour cream and cottage cheese do.

      Stacey Coates i understand. How about a dairy free option from Whole foods. Or a vegan option.

    Noreen, any idea of a sub for puff pastry, the only brand in my grocery store is Pepperidge Farm, and I dislike the taste. Phyllo dough maybe, although I've never used it. Thanks for the recipe, and any guidance given.

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use Pepperidge Farm. It is the only one available to me. Phyllo dough will not work in this application. The only other option is to make your own.

    • @jallenecs
      @jallenecs 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never done this with puff pastry. But I've done it several times with biscuit dough (I do it with green onions, like the other commenter suggested, and it is very yummy). and with pesto. I'm going to have to try the puff pastry idea.
