Hey everyone! Quinns here. The last week for me was extremely dark because Patreon *accidentally deleted the Quinns Quest Patreon page*. They eventually restored it but with a lot of folks' pledges missing. If you're a patron, please log in to the Quinns Quest Patreon to make sure your pledge is still there, and if you're thinking about being a Patron and supporting the show, this would be an extremely welcome time to join and get all that content. www.patreon.com/qquest EDIT: Patreon have contacted me saying they're manually restoring everyone's pledges! If you can't seem to join the Patreon or check your membership, this is probably why. Please give it 24 hours and try again.
There BETTER be another season! This is the best RPG review series I've ever seen. You've really evolved the scene since the first SUSD episodes, while never really abandoning what made those early videos so charming and engaging. Same thing with current SUSD and the ancillary shows. Thanks!
My friend Mikey made this game! Our gaming group were the first people to play it! Back then it was a hand written card game. It's come a long way! Such a fun game!
Here's what Mikey said: "K here’s what I remember. The GM would draw a card and you had to play a card from your hand to beat it. You could stack matching numbers to make a crit basically, and teammates could help you with that too anytime with cards from their hand, representing a team combo. " It was summer of 2017 when we played it!
Hello Mr Quinns Quest, This series has been one of my favorite YT series ever. I went from plahing DnD weekly with zero passion due to the repetitiveness of the game and now play a HOST of TTRPGs each week. Your Heart review literally changed rhe way i play games. Each review has been beautifully written and makes me so excited to play them. Season 2 would make my day each time a new episode came out, but its not an expectation. If this is all we get, thank you for it. If its not, consder me completely and utterly onboard.
I landed on my tailbone trying to land a kickflip once. It jarred my coccyx so much that I legitimately had a phantom tail for months afterwards. That was a surreal experience.
@Nipah.Auauau about 12- 18 inches and rigid. It felt like i had control of the base of it and could move it side to side and up and down, and also curl it, but nothing beyond that.
I am a simple human being. I see Quinns in a video, I immediately watch it and then preemptively send it to every disinterested friend I have telling them he is amazing and to watch everything he has made right now.
Man, this right here is why I love media preservation. I used to stay up late just to watch this, to my parent's dismay. The special effects on this finaly freaked me out for quite a while though 😂 Thanks anonymous archivist who thought of taping it back then, and uploading it now. If you have the other 5 seasons, oooh, maybe even the holiday special movie, I'd love to see it too!
I can’t believe the season finale was REAL! I swear I thought I dreamt that as a kid! None of my classmates had even heard of ttrpgs, let alone a tv show about them!
I think my brother still has the claymation episode on betamax, even though his VCR broke years ago. We used to quote the teleportation scene all the time whenever we were driving in the rain. I guess if you know, you know XD

Quinns is so good at describing the contents of a book and the events of a session in a way that draws you in. I can only imagine how good he is as a GM, describing the setting of an adventure and the monsters inhabiting it
I didn't know about this series, I didn't know about you or Quinns Quest or Slugblaster, but someway, somehow, this looks like one of the best channels for what Im looking for, It's 4 AM and I need to sleep, but when I have the time, I will watch the whole season
Slugblaster deserves every ounce of love it receives. I've been singing its praises since I read it two years ago and now have the absolute pleasure of finally being in a campaign. We're two sessions in and it's a delight, cannot wait to see where this game takes us. Not only a masterclass of game design, but also one of the most entertaining game books I've read.
I'm so invested in the Quinn's Quest greater plotline and I congratulate you Quinns on managing an editing interface screw at the end that REALLY wigged me out. Looking forward to watching the future seasons as the tapes resurface!
An award-winning TTRPG I've been a fan of for years (and one I contributed to!) bookending Quinns Quest after my beloved Wildsea kicked it off? Delightful! Hell of an ending, too.
Quinn, I know its at least part bit and all, but I'm so thankful for this show, and glad it is continuing. It has clued me into some amazing games that I have had a blast running for my table, and each and every episode is such an amazing joy to watch. I have watched every episode at least twice. I'm looking forward to more!
Myself and my entire gaming group are all teachers that are just a bunch of grown up skate/hardcore kids at heart. It's like this game was made for us!
@@TangleTrail Let me see: City of Mist, The One Ring 2E, Ironsworn: Starforged, Cortex Prime, Masks: a new generation (Bonus: Household or some other Two little mice game)
Thank you for this. I listened to at least two podcasts about Slugblaster, neither of which captured at all any of the heart that you touched on. You are a treasure.
This review is SOO good! I was sure this game isn't up my alley when I started watching… and by the end it was here in my wishlist :) You have a talent of finding cool games and reviewing them, Quinns!
Skate Story trailer came out two years ago and has been living in my head ever since. First look came out just a few days ago. It felt like a very personal project and the vibes are immaculate. So, now here comes Quinns and Slugblaster. If I had a penny for every incredibly personal, introspective, bordeline art-project, vibes-forward skateboarding game, I would have 2 pennies, which isn't a lot, but I'm so glad to have them because this is what art is made of.
I can't believe you just increase the production value, this is amazing! I love the multiple personalities and the jokes mixed with some real stuff. Wow... just, wow!
As a direct result of your review I was motivated recently to find a group and start GMing a campaign of Heart, and the best thing about it is without a doubt the beat and calling system. All of my PCs have character drives and strong motivations as a result, which manifest in every single session of play due to beats, and which are building towards a satisfying conclusion - and you are so right that that is something *structurally* missing from the vast majority of RPGs. It's definitely something I've struggled with in all of my past games, since creating 3-5 meaningful character arcs for your friends on top of everything else the GM has to do is, to put it mildly, difficult. Thanks so much for your excellent analysis, Slugblaster sounds absolutely epic and I am extremely excited to give it a try soon.
I've been wanting to buy Slugblaster for over a week and you drop this video? I hope I can send this to my players to convince them to try a not-DND game with me, because I'm buying it now.
Really happy to see Slugblaster here, I got to play it this year myself and had a... well, I was going to say 'had a blast', but that seems a bit punny. Congrats Mikey! :)
The fact that these are all recorded in the "SP mode" fills me with joy. I still remember a time when VHS tapes were so expensive it was EP all the way. Whomever has dug up the time capsule these were stored in and are putting them online is amazing.
Well... I know what I'm asking for for Christmas now. I'd heard of Slugblaster, but I hadn't realized how interesting it really was. Thanks, Quinn. I do very much hope you escape the dark and twisty depths of the Archive and either bring us a new season of awesome games to drag our friends into kicking and screaming or that you just get to do that yourself, no strings attached. Though perhaps your friends kick less than mine. And, somehow, I feel like I've learned a lot about how to better play these games I love from watching you review other games. No idea how you managed to sneak teaching into your review series, but thank you for doing so. This has been awesome.
Amazing episode and an incredible season. Well done Quinn. Especially liked the ending. Reminded me that everything you do, eventually there’s a last time you do it, and often, maybe most of the time, you don’t realise that it’s the last time, so maybe it’s worth occasionally taking a moment to reflect on that, soak in the moment and be grateful. “Dont cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” 👍
I just want to say thank you for making this channel, and thank you for season 1! These reviews have been the absolute highlight of my day every time I watch them (which is more than once I might add).
This game sounds cool as fuck, but mostly just wanted to say that this is one of my favourite channels on youtube. I loved your analysis of stuff on other channels and seeing you let loose on artistic vision with the videos and really getting into your true passion have both been an absolute delight. I'm not sure which excites me more, hearing about more super cool TTRPGs or seeing more of the ever expanding Quinnsverse.
Honestly a fantastic video that sold me on the game immediately, I quite enjoy these videos and their odd sense of humor. Plus exposing my D&D 5e pilled ass to new TTRPGs is REALLY huge for me
I was just about to make a post about how you better do a season 2 or I will haunt you and then you hit me with the twist ending!! You fiend. You trickster. Seriously though this has been such a wonderful series of reviews that has introduced me to a whole world of TTRPGs I'd never heard of before and has really reignited my own love of the hobby. I love what you're doing here and I appreciate your work so much. Absolutely cannot wait for season 2!
Interestingly I have the opposite reaction to the Bite system as an experienced GM that learned those same skills with practically no assistance from the systems themselves, both because it can actually bring folks in closer to better narrative consideration (old and new!!) and given it helps the GM's role feel more like play, where a lot of games expect you to hinge entirely on a skill they've done nothing to assist you in building. Plus it allows for explicit statement what this game's expectations are in how you engage it. Great review! Don't think I didn't hear that TTRPG-Head bit either. You're on thin ice, Games Man!!
What an incredible Journey. Sadly TH-cam didnt show me the video in my Subcsiptions, but im glad i religiously check your Channel. I just wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the hard work. These Reviews are allways incredible and your enthusiams for gaming shines trought at every second.
Your videos are so good, man. It's not just about the high quality of the reviews but also the passion and excitement that really come through. This channel deserves millions of followers
New episode of Quinns Quest came out two days ago and TH-cam didn’t notify me!? This was certainly not how I thought things were going to play out. There was a creepy spooky story happening all along!? If I wasn’t already hooked on this format, now I have to keep watching to see where it goes.
I can't believe I hadn't heard of Slugblaster, though this is was a fantastic way to find out about it! And I'm glad (hopeful) that the past 2-3 years getting my head around running Blades in the Dark will likely be useful for this and Wildsea. Awesome video series, looking forward to the new season, thank you.
Congrats on season 1! I have loved every episode, even if I didn't necessarily love every game. You've got something special here. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to season 2.
And who doesn't love skateboards? This game looks amazing. I love the idea of "Check it!". So much gets added with two spontaneous words, and so much communicated without having to deliberate on it. The "play as teenagers" bit is so real. My group loves scenes where our characters get drunk and the character walls come down to talk about their feelings and backstory.
This final segment got me thinking of a tweet by the Mörk Borg account that I think is such great PC advice I screenshotted it for my own reference: "Drink the potion. Pull the lever. Jump the chasm. Break the seal. Touch the eyeless horned figurine. Listen to the voices. Let them in. Really, what's the worst that can happen?"
Quinns you are the only TTRPG review channel I trust in any capacity, I hope you keep making these for another 20 years so you can do meta jokes in 2040 about how Quinns Quest is going digital.
Got me feeling teary just from the descriptipn of your ending. I guess that bittersweet 'growing up' theme really hits hard for me, I gotta give this a try :))
I JUST got my Mothership Deluxe Box today. Remembered the review, now saw this. And now I want Slugblasters too... Damn you Quinn! (for expanding my hobby)
Quinns, this channel is so wonderful. This kind of discussion of Indie systems is exactly what the TTRPG space needs more of. Thank you again for all of your work.
I get what you're saying about the sheer amount of terms in Slugblaster (and to an extent agree, why do attitude, hype and turbo need to be three different things?) but I love how it emulates a subculture forming its own slang that can be total gibberish to outsiders.
I really hope this isnt the last season. These videos give me so much to go off for my own gaming group. As the forever DM Quinns quest is a staple to help me decide what we play next.
I was watching the video planning to leave a comment about the freeform TTRPG I played that organically developed a lot of what makes Slugblaster's arc cool, but instead I am here to tell you that the outro of this video scared my cat 🤣
I found the channel with Mothership, so it’s been a long wait for a new video. Excited for season 2, and untangling the lore of the Quinn’s quest multiverse together
Its funny you made that joke at the end about not wanting to ship the trophy to Canada. We are in the middle of a mail strike. Also damn this game looks so good. I ordered it within the first 2 minutes of the review.
I absolutely adore this series. Even when I know, categorically, that a game is not for me... hearing the passion and enthusiasm shine through is still a wonderful time. Here's hoping that Quinns continues to be tormented by The Game Keeper for a long time yet! ^_^

Awesome video series, looking forward to the new season, thank you.
Excellent! Another skateboarding TTRPG to add to the collection next to Skate Wizards.
Congrats on season 1! I have loved every episode, even if I didn't necessarily love every game. You've got something special here. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to season 2.
This whole season was very Garth Marenghi's Darkplace coded
Quinns knows reviewers who use subtext and they're all cowards.
Quinn's is not prejudiced. Sometimes you need to be a bigot in order to bring down a bigger bigot.
I just KNEW some ominous meta shit was gonna go down in this one. So excited for more :)
This final segment got me thinking of a tweet by the Mörk Borg account that I think is such great PC advice I screenshotted it for my own reference:
"Drink the potion. Pull the lever. Jump the chasm. Break the seal. Touch the eyeless horned figurine. Listen to the voices. Let them in. Really, what's the worst that can happen?"
Quinns, you are my favorite internet creative, and I will follow you to whatever project you do next!
I've watched this twice in 24 hours! Great quality video and I'm very excited to eventually play this at some point in the future!
This was a fun review and it’s good to see someone evangelising for Slugblaster.
I hope your nephew’s balls recover.
Thanks for a fantastic season! These are by far the most entertaining ttrpg reviews around. I hope you're able to make more!
Now i really doubt that the broken leg was a kickboxing accident. Definitely a kickflip accident it seems! :-D
Thanks so much for this series and these suggestions, this game in particular really intrigues.
I was watching the video planning to leave a comment about the freeform TTRPG I played that organically developed a lot of what makes Slugblaster's arc cool, but instead I am here to tell you that the outro of this video scared my cat 🤣
I need to buy this immediately, thx for the review! heres for another season of Quinns Quest!
Watching this made me feel like witnessing something truly special. I cannot wait for season 2!
I found the channel with Mothership, so it’s been a long wait for a new video. Excited for season 2, and untangling the lore of the Quinn’s quest multiverse together
Thank you Quinns for bringing to light a lot of ttrpgs I would have no idea about otherwise and got my group to try things other than d&d!
Its funny you made that joke at the end about not wanting to ship the trophy to Canada. We are in the middle of a mail strike. Also damn this game looks so good. I ordered it within the first 2 minutes of the review.
What joke?
I absolutely adore this series. Even when I know, categorically, that a game is not for me... hearing the passion and enthusiasm shine through is still a wonderful time.
Here's hoping that Quinns continues to be tormented by The Game Keeper for a long time yet! ^_^
The set up for season two was SO hype!
Bar none this is my favorite TTRPG channel and I will always be thankful for you introducing me to Mothership
im getting so much general role playing advice from quinn its amazing
Sweaty chess is the best interview bit of the season
