Like domestication is one thing but like wouldnt it be awesome if everyone was just assigned a dog at the age of like 10 and BAM instant instinctual need to help each other and you can talk to them!
I'm very impressed about Matt's world building once again, there's so much creative original stuff he put into this alien eco-system and society. During the last episode, I was like "OK, now they made it up to D&D Tattoine, saw a herd of D&D Banthas and met the D&D Yawas who are being oppressed by the D&D Space Empire (which would have been fine with me, nothing against reusing proven tropes as a template for a D&D game). Little did I know how much I underestimated what Matt cooked up.
@@tylerbremer6696 It's funny that Stephanie Beatriz basically plays the same type of character in both Hazbin Hotel and Legend of Vox Machina. If we get more of Lady Kima in season 3, she's going to sound like Vaggie to me now.
See, *I* want a "Treshi Scry Ball!" Wanted one ever since Marisha inadvertently made it a thing. (pout) It can be a CR-themed "Magic 8-Ball" toy in a different size, painted to look like Ruidus Red crimson sky tones, Exandrian Blue Promise (with an accurate global "satellite style" map!), OR Scrying Eyes Metal (almost gunmetal gray w/black marbling)! The platonic solid (it doesn't HAVE to be a d20) inside could have funny/cool "fortune" phrases from/inspired by Campaign 3 ("Smiley Day to YOU!", "... ROLLIES!," "Today, YOU'RE the storm!," etc.) and a handful of evergreen CR quotes ("You can certainly try!" & "Don't forget to love each other!" are MUSTS!) [breathes heavily] ... ahem. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. (¬_¬')
Fun fact that may or may not inspire you: the magic 8 ball’s responses are etched onto a d20 that floats inside the ball! Thus it is in fact possible to make what you’re describing based on your desires!
Someone explain to me why i feel emotional. I'm caught up! One year later! I can't wait to engage with the community without fear of spoilers AND i'm a little anxious that i won't be able to binge anymore. Anyway, this has been some mesmerizing 1400 hours, that reignited my love for d&d, inspired me so much, encouraged me to try my hand at dm'ing, made me ugly cry and madly cackle, and even helped me put focus on things that i feel are missing in my life. I love these guys so much.
Congrats on catching up seriously is no small feat. I will say sometimes the cliffhangers can be rough, but it is something to look forward to when the sessions do pick up in pace.
My catch up episode was the one where they stole the hydra kill from the other adventuring party of the Slayer's Take. It was long enough ago and my memory isn't super great for things like that, but I think that's the one.
For the years on Exandria and Ruidus to be different lengths, they would have to orbit their sun at different speeds. This isn’t possible because Ruidus orbits Exandria, not the sun. Unless the moon people measure time by some other phenomenon, a year on Ruidus is the same length as an Exandrian one (328 earth days or about 90% the length of 1 earth year)
I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that they measure a year off rotations around Exandria since that is the most prominent celestial body in their sky and the center of their mythos. Surpirsed no one asked.
Matt’s NPCs are the best in the world. He does a lot of things very well as a DM, but his NPCs are what sets him apart from other great DMs in my opinion. The way he uses NPCs to make his players and audience feel specific emotions is masterful and magical. Dono and Kane are perfect examples of this. In the moment the players meet them, the PCs are skittish and nervous, so Matt introduces Kane to kind of soothe their fears and assure them that conversation is possible. It’s a fucking master class in DMing through NPCs. He’s brilliant.
It’s funny, I’ve literally just watched campaign 1 where Marisha accidentally turned a few people into mist forms and they couldn’t fight. Now in campaign 3 to Laura accidentally getting stuck waiting to be turned into mist unable to fight either 😅 that pesky mist, it’s good when you need it to travel
Choi's voice was amazing 😂❤ Matt is so friggin good at making his vocal folds do things that in most cases only a completely different voice type will do 🎉
after I finally caught up. I just want to say thank you and you are all wonderful people, I love you all and all your campaigns. P.S. I'm excited to see what Sam will have in the next few campaigns and how he'll manage to make his drinks container bigger
3:30 Sam: It went and hit the back of my throat. Liam: You're used to it. You've been there before. Sam: Oh! / Sam is off camera, but it's clear there's been an hubby exchange. 😄
Finally after a whole year of binge watching all the 3 campaings i finally finished! I absolutly love those people and i can't wait to watch the rest of their adventures. Might do some fanart animation. Love it keep it up!
an idea if this gets animated, after this section maybe Chet thinks he goes all werewolf on a buffalo but then a hand is placed on his shoulder and he comes out of a daydream/trance. wouldn't necessarily have any effect on the plot unless they would want it to, like maybe Ruidus is having an effect on him
Anyone else start singing "turn back time" at the same time as Sam and Laura? Matt's "If I could.." was so perfect I couldn't resist, then Travis' reaction made me laugh so much because I had too.
48:14 I had to look up who Johnny Carson was, because I was born just before 2000, so I’ve never heard of him. I’m glad I did find clips of him. The man is so funny.
I have been binge-watching all of critical role for the last year and a half dreading this day, the day I caught up and had to wait til Thursday......I feel accomplished and defeated
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a complete lack or respect for Talisens turn, particularly Marisha. Everyone else is generally respectful and doesn’t talk during everyone’s turn, but as soon as Talisen’s turn comes around everyone just starts talking over him and making comments.
I legitimately feel like the entire group shits on Taliesen constantly, to be honest. I don't think they do it overtly, nor do I think they do it with conscious malicious intent; but for whatever reason, they treat them like a punching bag, and it always makes me feel super awkward. Their character is one of the most complex and difficult to represent... do they stumble over the characterization sometimes? Sure. Do you do any better when you try to play? Probably not.
If I had a nickle every time Liam O'Brian knocked out a teenage boy in DnD, i'd have two nickels. It's not much, but it's wierd that it's happend twice.
Watch these episodes twice, 1st on the live show till bed then when the vod comes out. Always look forward to them each week. We're finishing up our Dragonlance Campaign got about 2 sessions left. Then it's off to Strad.
I loved seeing Liam's subtle Hex reveal in the battle. Makes perfect sense for his character arc that he's got some sort of deal with Nana Morri! He went from hopeful and optimistic at the beginning of the campaign, to feeling the weight of the mission and the importance of accomplishing it, which has led him to being ok with Bor'Dor being killed and other "darker" moments". This seems to be a "the ends justify the means" kind of character arc! Love it!

Tuesday Crew! (Also loved Liam yelling “hit me with the rum gun” as we went into the intro vid)
1:07:56 What ... exactly is the function of a rubber duck.
Backflips and spits fire
@@tylerbremer6696 It's funny that Stephanie Beatriz basically plays the same type of character in both Hazbin Hotel and Legend of Vox Machina. If we get more of Lady Kima in season 3, she's going to sound like Vaggie to me now.
You are never alone with a rubber duck
1:56:50 Dono knows a Zemnian word!
Was JUST looking to see if anybody left this comment yet 😄
The Reiloran summoning is starting to feel weirder as time goes on. It's like casting Summon Human at this point.
Necromancers 🤷♂️
Isn't that true for most summoning spells, since creatures above a certain intelligence rating are treated as sentient?
“I cast call my buddy”
See, *I* want a "Treshi Scry Ball!"
Wanted one ever since Marisha inadvertently made it a thing. (pout)
It can be a CR-themed "Magic 8-Ball" toy in a different size, painted to look like Ruidus Red crimson sky tones, Exandrian Blue Promise (with an accurate global "satellite style" map!), OR Scrying Eyes Metal (almost gunmetal gray w/black marbling)!
The platonic solid (it doesn't HAVE to be a d20) inside could have funny/cool "fortune" phrases from/inspired by Campaign 3 ("Smiley Day to YOU!", "... ROLLIES!," "Today, YOU'RE the storm!," etc.) and a handful of evergreen CR quotes ("You can certainly try!" & "Don't forget to love each other!" are MUSTS!)
[breathes heavily]
... ahem. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. (¬_¬')
Fun fact that may or may not inspire you: the magic 8 ball’s responses are etched onto a d20 that floats inside the ball! Thus it is in fact possible to make what you’re describing based on your desires!
There's so much merch I'd wanna see.
A Luxon Lamp, Caduceus' Tea set, a Vax'ilorb with display case, functioning Caleb Bookholsters, an FCG thermos...
Not since the 1st time seeing the villian, Maniac 8 Ball, have I been so ensnared by a vision of what a magic 8 ball could be.
matt doing duckface johnny carson is an image that will never leave my head XD
1:06:54 "I mean fungal networks are pretty spectacular".... ASHLEY JOHNSON YOU PUT THOSE WORDS BACK IN YOUR MOUTH
Thank you Taliesin for pulling a quote from one of my favorite movies when meeting the elder. May the dragon bless your dice.
Just like with Nana Mori, Matt has these great, late 80s/dark crystal vibes to his description and narration in this episode and I am here for it.
Aabria Iyengar has left her scar upon the world of Exandria and I am living for it
Which one specificly? Shw did many. As did Brennan😂
@@jurekovacic1739 I believe they were talking about Taste of Tal'dorei.
The fan art of Chetney suplexing a bull thing better be good.😂
This episode was a fun mix of roleplaying and combat. Loved learning some of the lore of this alien moon, still so much to discover.
You will forever remember this episode as the one, just like I remember mine: the one where Fjord put Avantika in the grave for good
Don't worry, re-binging is fun, too!
My catch up episode was the one where they stole the hydra kill from the other adventuring party of the Slayer's Take. It was long enough ago and my memory isn't super great for things like that, but I think that's the one.
How long is a Lunar year? If 10 Lunar years is 1 year on exandria, the Barthie is only 40.
My thought as well!
For the years on Exandria and Ruidus to be different lengths, they would have to orbit their sun at different speeds. This isn’t possible because Ruidus orbits Exandria, not the sun. Unless the moon people measure time by some other phenomenon, a year on Ruidus is the same length as an Exandrian one (328 earth days or about 90% the length of 1 earth year)
@@poe_slaw I guess basic science escaped me for a moment there, thanks!
@@poe_slaw Big ups, fellow nerd-person 🙌🏼
I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that they measure a year off rotations around Exandria since that is the most prominent celestial body in their sky and the center of their mythos. Surpirsed no one asked.
The last 2 episodes have had me totally hooked. Enticing, exciting, fun!
🎶*IIIII'm still standing, better than I ever did*🎶
*Fuckin' up these simple farmers!*🎵
*Fuckin' up this little kid!*🎵

This made me laugh more than I'd like to admit.
It’s funny, I’ve literally just watched campaign 1 where Marisha accidentally turned a few people into mist forms and they couldn’t fight. Now in campaign 3 to Laura accidentally getting stuck waiting to be turned into mist unable to fight either 😅 that pesky mist, it’s good when you need it to travel
for the love of the gods, show this to neil gaiman, the bormodos are such a beautiful thought and Dream of the Endless would adore them.
Remember the "Whalers on the Moon" somg from Futurama Luna Park - but now it's in my brain as :werewolves on the moon:
Underrated comment. I'm laughing so much now.
We’re werewolves on the moon
We hold a wooden spoon
But there ain’t no wood
So we fight real good
Till the town’s with bodies strewn
Everyone is having/had a blast during the fight and poor imogen/Laura is phasing in and out of being a fart cloud.
Taste of Tal'dorei is a canon event
The elder of an alien tribe is essentially a cross between Jim Carrey and Owen Wilson😂
Matt was imitating Johnny Carson, host of the Tonight Show back in the day, and it's a good impression! 😄
@@bigsarge2085Huh didn’t know. Then again, I probably haven’t heard of Johnny Carson
I also thought it was Jim Carrey.
I got strong Matthew McConaughey vibes
I got Jim Carrey… and Chew reminds me of Lily Chen
The alliance: "go in get out 20 minutes adventure"
Bells Hells: "you son of a b*tch we're in"
Also Bells Hells: aaaahhhhh
The Barthie voice seems to slide between Johnny Carson to Ed Sullivan to Jeff Goldblum to George W. Bush 🤣
Yeah, Johnny Sulliblum Bushson
@@keithwinget6521 "Sulliblum Bushson" sounds like a proper druid name
Real wild stuff. Really big shoe.
2:28:04 is such a great moment, reacting to Laudna deciding how that moment is gonna go, hahaha
Fsr Chu gives me the vibe of specifically the dubbed version of Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle
Man I love Travis "Matt I'm definitely suplexing a buffalo and starting to eat it in front of everybody.". This was such a great episode lol.
DM: giving a hint that they could be less violent
HB: Fireball
xD
Ashton: Rolls rage effect
Tal: 🤔 Interesting
"this should be fun because why the fuck not oh boy do let's see yep I'm just going to uhh uh uh well what you'll see oh this is fun yep"
Choi's voice was amazing 😂❤ Matt is so friggin good at making his vocal folds do things that in most cases only a completely different voice type will do 🎉
WE PLAY DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS ON MONDAY NIIITE!!
Laudna: "How do you babies?"
Imogen: "Where do babies come from?"
Sam: "How do you *f_ck* ?"
Seriously I think Marisha was having a stroke!!!
1:38:30 ❤
I wonder if Dono is some distant relation to Bolo? 🤣
The thumbnail is Marisha and Talesin ready to fight, while Travis looks like he accidentally wandered into the shot
after I finally caught up. I just want to say thank you and you are all wonderful people, I love you all and all your campaigns.
P.S. I'm excited to see what Sam will have in the next few campaigns and how he'll manage to make his drinks container bigger
Again, sam's nordvpn ad bits never dissapoint
An elder johnny carson spilling the tea is something we didn't know we needed but is something that reeeally makes me want more
3:30 Sam: It went and hit the back of my throat.
I need everyone to know that the sounds starting at 1:29:50 are labeled in the closed captions as "Sam: (obnoxious scuffling)." 🤣
Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?
Apparently, she’s actually on the moon. 😂
an idea if this gets animated, after this section maybe Chet thinks he goes all werewolf on a buffalo but then a hand is placed on his shoulder and he comes out of a daydream/trance. wouldn't necessarily have any effect on the plot unless they would want it to, like maybe Ruidus is having an effect on him
Anyone else start singing "turn back time" at the same time as Sam and Laura? Matt's "If I could.." was so perfect I couldn't resist, then Travis' reaction made me laugh so much because I had too.
@1:47:05 Marisha: "We have this glass from Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh [checks notes]. Nailed it." 🤣🤣

I need Legends of Vox season three in my life
I love how Matt is staying in character but then every once in a while he has to stop to laugh or grin and then goes back to character
2:31:50 That "Run" is absolutely bone chilling, THAT gives me the fucking heebie jeebies
The fact that they referenced Fist of the North Star makes me happy!!! 😊
I love how Chu sounds like Rizzo the Rat from the Muppets.
Love it!
2:33:41 Marisha: Did I do a bad?
Everyone: *Nooo*
Laura: You pulled a Janet Reno on the Branch Davidians
I like to imagine that the elder once shared the dreams of a blue cleric and learned that...pastries, pastries are holy and unimaginably integral to life
My Mondays are waiting for this episode haha
"This is just a scouting mission." "FIREBALL, SHATTER!"
