I listened to a Cyberpunk RED podcast where this exact thing happened in the first ever session, and the system has a pretty lengthy character creation process too lmfao.
I'm loving Lewis playing an android. It's so different from Ameebo & John Steel. Simon nearly getting offed at intro was crazy. Looking forward to more.
@@svenrio8521 I may forget the details of their adventure on Tatuin, but I will always remember how Lewis made Ameebo spend several hours interviewing the entire floor of an apartment complex looking for a spare key to Johnny's reinforced flat.
I am just so pleased to see Lewis and Simon's comedy bouncing off one another. It's a dynamic I really missed and I love seeing here on Tom's Mystery Quest!
yeah! ever since march 2015 (when simon had that surgery) he has never fully come back! sure he did for a few things like WhaleLords in 2016 and ofcourse simons PP, but its been really rare to see the Simon and Lewis chemistry in the last 8 years! we can probably count it on 2 hands :(
Im 5 months late but I want you to know that I saw your comment and was thinking very similar thoughts. MORE VICTIM- I mean, VOLUNTEERS for his experiments
Gotta say that having been a DM for ages, one of my favourite dynamics is a combination of newer & older players, and I love how Mystery Quest very often really makes the most of that dynamic. Gods this is just a spectacular time!
This reminded me of the (unfortunately) short Star Wars campaign Mark Hulmes ran at the start of this year. Rule-wise, it was a combination of Edge of the Empire and Age of Rebellion (I think?) with Andor-like setting. Would love to see something like that for the eventual longer campaign
Tom, I'm so glad you're finding your stride with this channel. You got different RPG systems in smaller one-shot size chunks, which is great for people that don't want to commit to the large HR style campaign. You got a huge font of talented front-of-camera types that already enjoy each other's company to be a rotating cast of players/GMs. This is perfect evergreen content, and it works as a podcast too! I sincerely hope the algo favors you on this one!

Ben's character made a right choice. If those national guardmen stood down and didnt shoot down that unarmed college campus back in the (60's-70's?), no innocent wouldve died.
Can already tell this will be a great series with my favourite people. Taking bets on how long before the android betrays them with the classic brindley flip flop
I got locked in a car once in the middle of an Arizona Summer when I was 6 and couldn't get out the back because the doors wouldn't open (child security locks) so for a bit I just gave up and cried on the back seat and then a few minutes later I was like "maybe the front door" and lo and behold that works. People have trouble with very simple things under duress!
As a Tom aficionado the way he said ‘bowel’ might as well be a lit up sign saying ‘improv’, and as always it’s chef’s kiss perfect. Tom has perfect improv bowels.
The start of this one was brutal but super hilarious. Love the player's characters and the NPC's! The setting is very cool too. Very excited to see where this is going :D
Having seen the members video, I highly suggest joining!! Excellent content that is more than just "the same thing with more bits". Love the video thanks again Tom and all involved
I've honestly become wearied of TTRPG content since the web has become aflush with it and everyone and their mother has to start a YT series/podcast of their playthrough. That said, I was so excited to see y'all starting up Mystery Quest and I've enjoyed what I've seen so far and can't wait for more. Clean editing, nice audio, well-balanced episodes between silly stuff and the more serious sides of the stories, no trudging through rules and how everyone interprets them. Keep it up!
I remember playing Mothership once, the android PC developed a religious obsession with human death, the marine was invested with some kind of mold like alien infection and died in the evac shuttle, I developed a paranoia about where I got stressed every time someone left and then reentered my line of sight and died of a heart attack when the marine tired to offer me a drink to calm me down in the evac shuttle, and the scientist jettisoned herself from the eavc shuttle and was thrown in a hypersleep tube at gunpoint after having the android and marine blown up in the shuttle as a biohazard. But we managed to stop the space demon portal from being completed by never entering the mines and rigging the nuclear power plant of the facility to explode.
You know how kids will talk and talk and talk, and if you're minding them you need to learn to make little "active listening" noises so they know you're paying attention even though you're trying to do something else? Ben hasn't turned his "dad is listening" noises off. xD
This is literally my ideal cast for this. I cannot believe all 5 of my top tier yogs members are patticipating in a spooky dnd. This is a literal dream come true.
Yooooooooo super excited to see Mothership from some of my favorite youtubers. I had a bit of trouble with the system so it's great seeing live plays to see how it goes for others.
I really fell off watching the main Yogs channel many years ago but seeing lewis and simon along with my favorite "Newer" Yogs members Tom really brings me back in. Keep it up guys!
Highly recommend listening to this with headphones, not only do you get the casts dulcet tones, but you get SPACE NOISE PANNING THROUGH YOUR BRAIN. Lovely stuff
I hadn't noticed it before, but the way Simon holds a pencil while he's writing is wild. Literal psycho path. Part of the appeal of his character I suppose.
All of Lydia's characters have the same 'alright darling?' energy lol
The sound effects of this jittery clanking mining station already have me fully creeped out.
Wow! Lewis's opening lines were fantastic! He really took the android role and made quite an intro
Simon and lydia are like those regulars on panel shows that are in every episode despite the cast around them rotating constantly.
And I personally couldn't be happier with it staying that way
simon is basically my internet bill bailey. Always an absolute joy to see him as a contestant lol
It's going to suck when he dies. Age is showing it's sign
@@Slouworkerbit of a shit head statement not really grounded in anything

Simon nearly dying in the cryo-bed was pretty good. Imagine if that was it & he had to roll up a new guy immediately after the campaign started.
It reminded me a lot of morkborg. I was just waiting for him to die immediately again.
Not quite Traveller quick, but pretty close.
I feel like it was a great start to a sci-fi horror story
I listened to a Cyberpunk RED podcast where this exact thing happened in the first ever session, and the system has a pretty lengthy character creation process too lmfao.
a good representation of Mothership
More Lydia, Lewis and Simon AND now Ben? Make my weekend, why don't you
right? what a cast! this is top tier yogscast in one room!

Ameebo! Imperial police! 😂

Lewis also played an android in the jingle jam Dread game. That one was pretty wild.
But a missed opportunity for the return of Todo from the dread session 😂
I am just so pleased to see Lewis and Simon's comedy bouncing off one another. It's a dynamic I really missed and I love seeing here on Tom's Mystery Quest!

Everyone knows the feeling when your first combat encounter of the day is against a door.
I know. Imagine sustaining an injury and spending three spells in order to open a single door.
@garr_inc Ah yes Vox Machina's true enemy.
Android lewis is actually brilliant casting lol. The moustache and camera angle on the close ups really feels like it adds to this
15 minutes in and I'm almost certain that Simon is going to end up playing a duck again.
I was thinking the same thing.
Wait, where did he play a duck? 😂
@@ClyeRandom In the Morkborg game they did.
When they play Mork Borg on this same channel some interesting events happen for sure 😅@@ClyeRandom

simon almost dying straight away is so on brand... at least he didnt have a "magic spell" to create a burst of light for a brief moment, this time...
i love the voice Lydia is doing for her character it's just perfect
I half expected Simons character to just wake up as a skeleton when he rolled a critical failure 💀
Oh baby, this is *exactly* what I needed today.
Mystery Quest is the best thing to happen to the Yogs since Games Night!
This is literally the dream cast!
2 bouts of damage, Stress mechanic being explained, and Simon nonchalantly pops a Nicorette lmao

I cannot convey with words how much I enjoy the dramatic intro melting into the jaunty intro theme. It's just perfect
Big ups to the editor, the sound effects were on point
Really enjoying this series
Always shout out the editors. They do an amazing job everytime but never get enough recognition.
That beginning was tense! I was certain Simon would have to "respawn" as Collin again.
i know this is probably a strange thing to compliment, but i adore the intros that tom does, they're very very fun

So we loosely have Lewis as Kryten, Simon as Rimmer, Lydia as Cat and Ben as Lister.
Loving this one! All we're missing is Barry and Zylus, and we'd have all the top tier Tom Team Ups on one table!

lewis' android voice is actually really good :o
It always brings a smile to my face to see Lewis and Simon.
