Awesome review for this underappreciated game! I really enjoyed what I played of this so far, and glad to hear you enjoyed it during your full playthrough man. Very well edited review, and one of your best videos to date!
Thanks dude! Yea not great but a fairly good game and worth owning and playing. This goes back to the whole mindset of when did a 7/10 game become a bad game lol. Wish we could get judge Dredd a little more love in the states.
This game looks a lot better than I expected. Also, huge congrats on 500!!! You kick ass and you've earned every subscriber with your hard work and dedication.
Thanks dude! It's been a journey to say the least. The gameplay is actually pretty fun once you look past the flaws. I highly recommend picking it up for one of the cheaper consoles
I saw this game on GameCube for sale at my local game store, I believe still new, for $180 or thereabouts. I was surprised as I bought the game for PS2 when it came out. At the time, it was a budget release - $20-$40 brand new at release. I got it at release & really, really enjoyed it. I remember there was a glitch in multiplayer which made it practically unplayable though I think it could be fixed with different settings. Still though, the single player experience was fun enough for me to review it an 8 or 8.5 out of 10 at the time. I still go back & play this game from time to time & I always find it very enjoyable. I consider this a hidden gem for sure.
Solid Review brother! 👌🏼 It looks like a pretty cool shooter. Glad to see something do well and not end up on the saw. 🤣Oh shit! Congrats on 500 subs dude! 🍻
Oh dear! With the speed graphics were refining in the early 2000s, holding back a 2003 game to 2005 was going to be painful. I never played it on Gamecube, only on the PC, so can't really comment on if they did a good conversion job. It looks much the same at least. For 2003 as a PC release it looked OK. Nothing to write home about, but not the worst thing either. The original version also suffers from some occasionally poor sound mixing making some dialogue a struggle to hear which is a pity because otherwise the music and voice acting is top notch. I recommend playing it on a PC today because you can up the resolution to something relatively modern, and given its age it'd run on pretty much any crud laptop at ultra high framerates! Also, I strongly recommend playing through it with someone else on co-op mode as it's a lot of fun. Definitely a much better game than would be expected from its review scores, and one that has been cruelly overlooked. So long as folk can forgive its janky edges, and especially if they're fond of the Dredd comics or films, it's well worth a play.
Nice review man! The visuals did not age well concidering what the GC is capable of, I agree with you and it is 100% okay to have high standards for the GC. The GC in my opinion has some of the best water effects. Interesting on the arresting aspect, pretty cool. 4 player death match would be awesome with this game lol! It is a bit late to play this game to play concidering all the fps options out there. Nice on the final score! You the man!
Thanks Mike! Yea the GC really had the hardware to make some really stunning games. Yea it's definitely late to play but if you were to pick it up I would definitely try to find a cheap PS2 or Xbox version. No need to drop crazy money on it
You should give the Die Hard game for GameCube a play. It had a lot of parallels to this game - European release primarily, horrible reviews, released as a budget title. Seems like nearly everyone hated Die Hard & I always understood why, but I really enjoyed it a lot, especially for how cheap it was. You could tell the devs had a grander vision for Die Hard than they were able to implement on a technical level.
Nice review! Looked and sounded good! I've never played this one but "judged" by your review (I couldn't help myself with the pun lol), I will have to find a copy and try it out! I enjoyed the old and recent movies and I hope that they revisit this franchise one day! Great video and keep up the good work!
I really wish we would get more of the Judge in films. I think the new one is seriously underrated. I would definitely recommend checking this out but unless your a die hard GameCube collector the PS2 or Xbox version would work just fine. It was also on PC so it may even be on steam. Thanks for watching dude hope your doing well
Great review, man. Also, only 4 left until 500! I don't remember ever hearing about this one back then, but I'd have probably bought it (maybe not at full price though ha). Judge Dredd is a badass character, and, like you, the Stallone movie was a bit of a guilty pleasure. The Dredd movie was pretty awesome too. Also, I was a pretty big fan of Rebellion's FPS games at the time. I never got to play Alien vs Predator on the Atari Jaguar because, well, I didn't have one haha, but seeing pictures of it in a couple of magazines really made want one. It looked sweet. So, when Rebellion released Aliens vs Predator for the PC a few years later at the end of the 90s, I picked that up, and it was a pretty sweet FPS for the time. I kept an eye out after that for releases from them, and really got into their Sniper Elite series for a while and their shooters on the PSP were about the best shooters on that system. Still, I never knew Judge Dredd vs Death even existed. It really does seem like it's more of a bit of a graphical update (from the PC AvP, which was a few years old, but still not up to the first Sniper Elite yet. Looks like the XBox version is 480p out of the box, so I might look out and see if I can snag a copy for it. I love the Cube, but the XBox Duke controller does make for a better weapon when your wanker friends are screen peeking and you need to go full Dredd on them haha.
I haven't played this in so long. Need to add it to the collection someday. Great review as definitely looks a bit aged, but still seems fun today. Keep up the great work as usual!
I'm impressed you played it before lol. Not many people knew about this game. It's a pretty fun game it just needed some more attention to detail. Thanks for watching dude
Karl Urban movie is criminally underrated. They lifted the 2003 version and just ported. Probably not enough of appetite to recipe some of the level design. Looks fun but yea the muddy bland greys browns can be annoying. Good job 👍☘
Thanks brother. Yea the Karl Urban move is pretty awesome. It's crazy that it took 2 years to port when it wasn't exactly a PS2 or Xbox exclusive but whatever the case it needed a bit of refinement and polish.
If you enjoyed it as unfinished and unpolished just imagine what it could have been with some love. Judge Dredd is my type of super hero. I’ll be on the look out for this game. Nice review, LD.
If they had just put some more polish or just fixed some of the small details it could easily be a great FPS. It's ashame when a good idea gets hosed due to lack of refinement or potentially effort. It could have been great but I do recommend picking it up but definitely go for one of the cheaper versions
Great review man! I’m also a huge fan of the original Stallone Judge Dredd film. Never got a chance to play this one. Glad to see an in depth review. A bit dated by today’s standards but upon release i guarantee it was awesome. Bet the multiplayer still holds up. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Lonestar 🤘
The 1995 film is so bad that it makes it such a great movie. This one is worth the pickup but I would stick to PS2 or Xbox. It's not worth the GameCube money.
Huge fan of the comics, there was actually quite a few games released but I'm not sure they will have made it across the pond. I did a 2000ad collection video a while back. The graphics were dated when the game came out, the xbox version looks no better but its still a decent game. Definitely worth playing, fairly sure I completed it.
That awesome! The states only saw the two game I mentioned plus a light gun game that I forget to lol. Yea dude Dredd is a awesome character. Thanks for watching and sharing your insight. I was also curious why it took 2 year for the states to get this game 😂
This does look interesting, and I feel like it follows a storyline from the comics at around the same time... At any rate, it looks a lot better than the horrendous PS1 light gun game that came out in 1997!
I meant to bring up the light gun game. I had it in my notes and just missed it. Funny to hear that it was terrible, I didn't think it would be great anyway lol. Yes from what I can tell it does follow one of the comics. Thanks for watching! It's worth the pickup on the PS2 or Xbox if you can find it at a reasonable price
Great review Lame Dad! I loved how corny the original Stallone movie was so the game always interested me but I feel it came out when there was a lot of competition out during that time and flew under my radar. Going to have to hunt this one down and uphold the law.
It definitely came out at a time where halo and COD had already started transforming the FPS landscape where it wasn't going to do well. I highly recommend picking it up but I'd go for the Xbox or PS2 version to save a few $$ but it's worth the pickup. Thanks for watching!
That's really cool playing it on the PC. Just another version I would be interested in seeing. It hasn't aged perfectly at all lol. Thanks for watching!!
Great video man I haven't seen that movie with Sylvester Stallone and years probably since it originally came out. I never did see the reboot now that you said it I kind of want to go out and watch it I never got to watch the reboot of RoboCop either though I didn't hear that that was a good one. I never read the comics or played any of the games of this series So I don't really know much of dread outside of that movie in the '90s. This game does look pretty cool though. I'd probably pick it up and give it a whirl. Hope we can get you to 500 sub soon man. ❤️
The robocop reboot I'd stay away from. I personally thought it was pretty terrible. The new dredd reboot is a great action movie and didn't receive the love it deserved. Judge dredd just never really got very popular in the states as far as films and games go. I definitely would pick this up for the PS2 or Xbox. Unless your a die-hard collector for the GameCube I'd buy the other versions and save a few dollars. Thanks for the love dude just 4 more to go!
@@LameDadRetroGamer I'll definitely pick up it on one of those other platforms and I'll stay clear of the RoboCop movie have to see if I can find this dread film though on some streaming service and watch it surely someplace has it
Dredd is the Law, and was never going to face the Saw 🤣 Sadly being an early FPS I can't touch this one. The wrath of the great god motion sickness would sacrifice me in under 10 minutes 🤣
Really sad that dredd doesn't get more attention. He's a pretty awesome character. Your not missing much on not playing it. It's a good 7/10 but with all that's missing it's kinda unmemorable
