I loved the Hotshot scene, its the second part where you realize he wasnt calling the perp Hotshot, he was trying to load the hotshot round via voice command, and the subsequent "I said... hotshot" was directed at the lawgiver not loading the round he wanted. the confusion of the perp is hilarious.
It’s also pretty cool later when you realize that, had the perp not been at close range, it would have split like it did later in the movie when he fired it across a level at a swarm of bad guys. That also explained why it burned through his head, because multiple shots were being expelled from the initial shot.
Wonder how it works though. Like, does the Lawgiver have a targeting system integrated into the helmet to identify who's gonna get pumped? Cause heat seekers have been known to get the wrong target

Your favorite lawgiver moment is actually one of my favorite scenes in that movie. if not my favorite. I just love that after all of that hell in the beginning, all that gorey mess. the girl is just like "thank you, Judge.". it just perfectly expresses the world that the story is taking place in.

And the idea it can change on the fly based on a simple command or dial turn. I really like the MK. II for the singular clip it has. Just something about the idea of slamming that clip in and knowing you have access to such a wide variety of ammo types is just cool.
When I saw the Lawgiver in the 2012 movie and some of the comics I read I found it very interesting to look at and I thank you for making a video about it.

In the Dredd movie he ran out of ammo. I never understood why Dredd did not strip the first judge he killed of his ammo. Excellent movie - full shining five stars.
The bullet DNA 'tag' in the Stallone movie was a new addition to the lawgiver; not a bad feature, despite the fact that it would make the gun more complex.
I always thought the Lawgiver was highly reminiscent of the guns the Sandmen used in the books for "Logan's Run" that fired a number of different rounds and were keyed to each individual Sandman. Seeing as the books predated the comics by about a decade I've wondered if they were the inspiration for the Lawgiver?
great video mr. h, i prefer the mk2 of the karl urban 2012 dredd film. i like the design and effectiveness of the gun, also the self destruct scene was pretty cool. i would like to see one on the iso-cubes or the psi judges in the near future. great video keep up the awesome work
We actually have a gun that can have many different ammo types, the rounds are inline one behind the other, fired by electricity instead of a firing pin, with four barrels so four types of rounds. And the Judge by Taurus, with caliber inserts, can fire shot gun shells down to a .22LR cartages
The first Judge Dredd film from 1995 showed the pistol of my dreams. Able to fire different types of ammunition at the call of a phrase, a DNA identification system to keep the operator in check and just an amazing looking weapon. It was my introduction to the DREDD universe, and I absolutely loved that film and all the costume and accessory designs. Then DREDD came along and blew my expectations away with an epic, gritty look and a modified Glock made into a Lawgiver. It's an amazing idea that I believe will eventually become reality, just like with the Star Trek TOS communicator inspiring the first mobile phone...
Logan's Run book version DS Gun had these sorts of features in 1967. :) 6 round revolver with different sorts of ammo and a pore pattern detonation device in the grip keyed to each Sandman.

I think the second Judge Dread's lawgiver is the most aesthetically appealing whilst also having the most functionality. the whole "Dial" thing makes less sense than an LCD Display on the side of the gun, whilst allowing for a quick glance to tell you round count of multiple types which you can't get with the dial
The Lawgiver makes absolutely no sense technically or practically. But that's why it's based within a sci fi universe. I love the 2012 movie's design without the round dial selective fire indicator. The LED display is a lot more modern and relatable to our times.
The grenade being used primarily on armored vehicles makes no sense. It is stated it explodes into fragments which would do little to no damage against an armored vehicle. Fragment grenades are meant for groups. I feel high explosive makes more sense against armored vehicles and makes little sense in a crowd. That is why the army does not use frag grenades against armored vehicles they use something with huge force to one area like a bazooka and on top of that the army uses frags to clear crowds of enemies yea a bazooka could be used but it makes more sense to use the frag.
And it talks! the one from the Stallone movie was by far the best character only after dredd itself ( ... and then he removed his helmet) :( ), but the lawgiver is the only weapon I would use as well.
Really this is one of the few pistols i would actually like to own. thats saying something as i really do not like pistols in general, there to easy to use compared to a rifle and are not the best close quarters weapon out there...cause they tend to run out of bullets, well a knife only becomes usless if its snaped off at the tang. i just love the multipurpose application of these firearms and vioce activated ammow switch. my favorite moment in film of this firearm is when Dredd uses the flare to help him defeat his brother in the first move.
Love the videos Mr H keep it up! Some ideas for future videos which I guess maybe all ready on a list you have. The original Terminator films (1&2). Also the books that go in depth about the future war they are all available on amazon but may be abit rare lately. They are called: T2 Infiltrator, T2 Rising Storm & T2 Future war. (read in that order) There is also some comics which are abit rare now also from Malibu comics. Nuclear twilight & Cybernetic dawn I managed to get the whole collection on ebay along time ago & they are awesome. Imo these comics & books should have been T3 Its a shame that the future war has never been done properly in the terminator series we only get some glimpses from James Cameron's films & T-genisys was just a let down for me. I know Terminator salvation tried but just wasn't very good over all atleast imo.

It's a weapon that serves functions against a wide variety of perps, regardless of their equipment or vehicles, and it's been condensed into a handgun. It reflects the universe very well, a weapon that Judges need to combat any scenario that occurs within the Megacity at a moment's notice. The only flaw that might occur is highlighted in Dredd, in which you may run out of ammo. Despite the versatility being unparalleled, it's still limited by however much ammunition a Judge carries on their person. Still, naturally, the Swiss army knife of handguns is awesome.
I think you should make a video about the origins of the Dredd universe, the landscape, how the judges became the De facto rulers of the post apocalyptic united states, Chief Judge Goodman and whatnot.

Perhaps the judges have a biometric chip in their hand rather than a print in the sense of a finger print. It would explain how other judges can use Law Givers under extreme circumstances, the gun knows it's been picked up by someone else, but also knows they're a judge.
It's the grip that read the judges hand print the added the DNA thing for the movie the idea the hand print is unique to each judge like fingerprints when the guns issued the judge holds it in both hands and I registers the weapon to that judge only
Deus ex machina. It is purely a plot point, and that is it. To say that there is a rfi tag in the glove would decrease the integrity of the weapon, as you could take the glove off a dead/living judge and then have access to everything. The point is no technology is infallible.
In the Karl urban film it's explained that they sync a judge's heart beat to there weapon if it doesn't sync with what the lawgiver has registered it's kaboom time as it shows dress picking the mk2 says it's syncing and then says welcome judge dredd
Great video as always I'm curious about the other weapons like the Lawrod Rifle and the Arbitraitor Shotgun as well as thier other equipment like gas grenades and vehicles, and curious as to why the ABC Warrior robots are banned but the Judges still use them on occassion like the Judge Dread vs. Predator comic series.
My was the stun in the grip in the 1995 fill and it killed just like the explosive but you got to keep the gun and armor pieces and the mark 2 in my favorite
We are probably not that far away from making a lawgiver type handgun. Since most handguns nowadays come with ability to swap into different bullet types by changing the barrel and also glock technology of having compact sized high capacity magazines. Probably in the next 4-5 years we will have rubberized high voltage low amp peacemaker bullets.
I think the self-destruct should have some added safety features, like having to be manually activated by the Judge when s/he goes on duty. Even regular guns now have manual safety switches, and i don't think that's likely to change even if there comes a time when they can do that electronically. Some things you just don't leave up entirely to software, and a self destruct that can take out your arm at any moment is probably on the top of the list. I'd also build an audio feed into the judge's armor or helmet that signals when the explosive is armed, just so there's forewarning in case of an accident.
Read the Logan's Run novel - published in 1967. DS Gun - 6 round revolver with six different types of ammo, pore pattern encoded grip, that will injure or kill anyone except the Sandman to who the gun is issued. :)

Love Judge Dredd.. Nice work Mr H :)
It's a weapon that serves functions against a wide variety of perps, regardless of their equipment or vehicles, and it's been condensed into a handgun. It reflects the universe very well, a weapon that Judges need to combat any scenario that occurs within the Megacity at a moment's notice. The only flaw that might occur is highlighted in Dredd, in which you may run out of ammo. Despite the versatility being unparalleled, it's still limited by however much ammunition a Judge carries on their person.
Still, naturally, the Swiss army knife of handguns is awesome.
I think you should make a video about the origins of the Dredd universe, the landscape, how the judges became the De facto rulers of the post apocalyptic united states, Chief Judge Goodman and whatnot.

Perhaps the judges have a biometric chip in their hand rather than a print in the sense of a finger print. It would explain how other judges can use Law Givers under extreme circumstances, the gun knows it's been picked up by someone else, but also knows they're a judge.

It's the grip that read the judges hand print the added the DNA thing for the movie the idea the hand print is unique to each judge like fingerprints when the guns issued the judge holds it in both hands and I registers the weapon to that judge only
Deus ex machina. It is purely a plot point, and that is it. To say that there is a rfi tag in the glove would decrease the integrity of the weapon, as you could take the glove off a dead/living judge and then have access to everything. The point is no technology is infallible.
In the Karl urban film it's explained that they sync a judge's heart beat to there weapon if it doesn't sync with what the lawgiver has registered it's kaboom time as it shows dress picking the mk2 says it's syncing and then says welcome judge dredd

Great video as always I'm curious about the other weapons like the Lawrod Rifle and the Arbitraitor Shotgun as well as thier other equipment like gas grenades and vehicles, and curious as to why the ABC Warrior robots are banned but the Judges still use them on occassion like the Judge Dread vs. Predator comic series.
They are banned from the public / cit-def forces, but the judges have their own licensed versions I think.
So the Lawgiver has many bullet types. Wow.
I can imagine a Lawgiver with non lethal with: Stun shot, tear gas grenade, tranquilizer shot...
My was the stun in the grip in the 1995 fill and it killed just like the explosive but you got to keep the gun and armor pieces and the mark 2 in my favorite

We are probably not that far away from making a lawgiver type handgun. Since most handguns nowadays come with ability to swap into different bullet types by changing the barrel and also glock technology of having compact sized high capacity magazines. Probably in the next 4-5 years we will have rubberized high voltage low amp peacemaker bullets.

I think the self-destruct should have some added safety features, like having to be manually activated by the Judge when s/he goes on duty. Even regular guns now have manual safety switches, and i don't think that's likely to change even if there comes a time when they can do that electronically. Some things you just don't leave up entirely to software, and a self destruct that can take out your arm at any moment is probably on the top of the list.
I'd also build an audio feed into the judge's armor or helmet that signals when the explosive is armed, just so there's forewarning in case of an accident.
Seems that's why it has been turned into tazzing the intruder in this movie.
Read the Logan's Run novel - published in 1967. DS Gun - 6 round revolver with six different types of ammo, pore pattern encoded grip, that will injure or kill anyone except the Sandman to who the gun is issued. :)
Makes me also think of the Arbitrers of Hive cities long ago in Warhammer 40k can see where their inspiration came from
