Check out a really good movie channel called OLIVER HARPER DREDD COMMENTARY Its a couple of guys who are big dredd fans explaining the dredd lore and world. Its really good to listen to and well worth you checking out.
Warhammer 40k borrows a lot of its lore from other sources. Judge Dredd is one of the major influences of the Inquisition, along with hive planets, such as Necromunda. Other stuff, like the Space Marine attack bike, was also influenced by Judge Dredd. It also helps that Dredd and WH40k are both British creations. There's a lot of tongue-in-cheek-over-the-top humor and philosophy in both settings. For reference, Judge Dredd was first published in 1977, while Warhammer 40k's Rogue Trader was published 10 years later in 1987.
40k was like a parody of Dredd when it first came out, don't try to compare the similarities now with a lore that has been revamped 30 times. It's kinda funny cause Dredd was in many ways a parody of dystopian themes, so warhammer 40k became a parody of a parody, no wonder the dystopian hyperboles of the universe. Both Dredd and warhammer though tried to become serious as years went by. I believe warhammer was more sucessful following the fantasy dogma and becoming pretty much a collage of 'borrowed' ideas. It's really hard to find a unique idea in warhammer, i wouldn't mind if GW wasn't the biggest copystriking faggot company after Disney.
Jimmy Jazz Might be because GW got their start borrowing from other IPs. I heard WFB started after they got hired to make a bunch of D&D models, and they had a bunch afterwards and were like, "fuck it, let's make a badass game".

Very good for a very brief 10 min overview. Glad you got a shot of Karl Urban in there as well, he played Joe well.... unlike that Heretical Stallone offering.
Fun factiod: Dredd wears boots a size to small for his feet, the constant discomfort providing a distraction from the whining of perps excuses and contributes to his 'zero-fox-given' personality.
Good potted history of Dredd. Been enjoying reading his stories since the beginning, so sorry but you got the "No Fines" bit wrong, there are some fines like "defective lights = 500 credits", "sugar possession = 1000 credits to 2 years encubment" or "erratic driving = 1000 credits to 3 years encubment". There are more and there is some discretion given to the judges. But great video and a chance to see some excellent artwork again too.

So not only do they live in a dystopian hellhole with rampant crime where cops by default are authorized to sentence you without a trial but _on top of all that,_ stimulants like coffee and sugar are illegal? That is _dark as hell._
Good narration. Was curious how that world got so F'd up in the 1st place. Hearing Dredd's backstory makes me wanna see him fight Solid Snake now in Death Battle :O - different professions, but similar "upbringings" and purposes. Hard to say who'd win too, Snake's an absolute monster but Dredd's got some ridiculous tech.
Do you wanna know something funny? In the most recent movie adaptation of this IP, when he crime rate was cited as 17000 a day. That may sound like a lot, but it's for a city of 800 million people. That is actually a shockingly low crime rate considering the fact that all 800 million people are living together in one MASSIVE city.
Judge Dredd was most likely referring to his own sector, not to mention that he states that Judges can only respond to five percent of reported crimes.
Judge Dredd i grew up with buying 2000 AD comic it was one of those characters i loved aswell as the dark knight Batman . Judge Death and his brothers were some of the best stories and characters to come out of the franchise . Karl Urban played Dredd beautifully , the Stallone version was way too glamorized by Hollywood .
Only thing I will compliment the Stallone movie on were the visuals. They nailed that... right until Stallone removed the helmet XD Though in seriousness they brought the visuals from the comic to the big screen, but everything else was drek.
Mats Martensson they made Dredd with Karl Urban more realistic and concentrated on block wars , in the Stallone version they crammed way too much in typical Hollywood , so how many times does Dredd remove his helmet in the comics ? Yeah ok . As soon as Stallone removed his helmet the film was done for me as a fan .
Regardless of what you think Dredd with Karl Urban was miles better , a more realistic version .Dredd's armour was slimmed down to make it look like a Judge could use it in reality , they stayed true to the comics and Karl Urban took Dredd more seriously than Stallone ever did . Stallone removing his helmet as Dredd was the worst mistake that film did , at the time Stallone had a huge ego it probably was in the script taking the helmet off was Stallone's idea , Hollywood glamour film lol .
There is a lot of terrible fan-made video about the Lore of the Warcraft and StarCraft universes. I appreciate seeing your opinion upon the these. History old debate about how the Terran Dominion show similarities to The Imperium of man.
Really? I would have thought they would be solidly covered. I am tempted to do Warcraft because I was a very hardcore WoW player for about 6 years in the oldschool days
in the comics, dredd ages real time, so has there ever been some anti aging story arc for dredd, or are we looking at a james bond character, that will just be alive forever
Id like to hear more about the programming behind judge dredds psyche that was written into him as a clone. Judge Anderson hinted at whats behind the control, and im currently reading the series, but I don't know if that will ever come up, at least not for a while. Im starting from issue 1 of judge dredd and 2000 ad.
I’ve adored Judge Dredd since my beloved late father was shocked that my mum was buying the Megazine for me when I was 4, in 1989. Dredd as a series is so sophisticated, as it does so many odd things - the hero is a villain, but with a sound moral compass...It even allows you to indulge the thought of fascism, and quickly reproach yourself. So maybe the point about Dredd is that he occupies an authoritarian metier which he hates...He’s a stickler under duress...
If you enjoy this and want me to make more hit that like. 40K lore will continue, but hopefully you guys will also love me narrating other characters, orgs and systems as much as the 40K verse.

Man, even 40k has coffee.. this is the real grimdark.. lol
Dude I will literally listen to you describe lore for anything.
This was a nice change of pace. I've been needing to get into Judge Dredd, so this is a nice start.
Awsome! As ppl said in coments any lore done by you is pure gold. Keep up with good work. If you are familiar with Prophesy of Pendor (mod for a mout and blade) lore it would be fantastic to be done by you, if not do carry on with what you are doing. Cheers.
Appreciate the video, never would have known there was so much more to the Dredd universe
I really liked the Predator crossover books they made. And the 3 other only books I've been able to read of Dred
Lol someone watches Cinema Sins
Chromatism yeah visuals is Hollywood , yep as soon as Stallone removed his helmet off everything died lol .
Mats Martensson You don't film that story. Simple.
A surprise Dredd Video.?
I didn't Know I even Needed more untill now..Good Work Leutin
There is a lot of terrible fan-made video about the Lore of the Warcraft and StarCraft universes. I appreciate seeing your opinion upon the these. History old debate about how the Terran Dominion show similarities to The Imperium of man.
Really? I would have thought they would be solidly covered. I am tempted to do Warcraft because I was a very hardcore WoW player for about 6 years in the oldschool days
Well none of them even close to the quality of your videos as far I see them on YT.
This was good more please
Dredd is the single most under-rated comic series of all time.
in the comics, dredd ages real time, so has there ever been some anti aging story arc for dredd, or are we looking at a james bond character, that will just be alive forever
Cool stuff, love the narrating, a little fast for me but very detailed. Off to find the comic books!!
Find the judge death series or apocalypse war series.
Liked it dude! I would like to see more of the random lore! I think a great lore video would be Zone of the Enders lore.
Would love you to do other cities around the world in Dredd. Even places like Cal-Hab. So so interesting
Dredd is one of my favorite characters. A buddy of mine considers him a "constant" or an element. Something like plasma, electricity or fire.....
So, along with solid, liquid, gas, solidus(jelly) and plasma, "hardened badass" is another state of matter? I can see that.
Sounds like your friend is saying Dredd is more a force of nature that a person- kind of like a gun toting, lawbound Michael Myers.
That comment made me lol. I just imagined Mike Myers responding to a barking dog call. “Scuse me ma’am , your neighbor complained about your dog.”
@@starlord157 "Canine barking after 9pm? that's TWENTY years in an Iso-Cube citizen!"
Great video! Looking forward to the next one (hopefully lol) 😅 perhaps a bit longer next time? 👀
Iets amazing how many info you research on a game.. most people dont care about it.. they just play.. good video man.. keep it up!!!
Just epic , love these story's you do, keep up the good work friend !
Dredd, Nemesis The Warlock, and Rogue Trooper, were my boys, growing up.
Awesome! Keep these coming! Especially 40K vids. Thank you!
I AM THE LORE
