NFL Fever 2003 Review
มุมมอง 8K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
NFL Fever was Microsofts answer to the Madde, NFL 2K, NFL Gameday and NFL Blitz series. However the game is often forgot about when you talk about football games from the past. How does NFL Fever hold up and play in 2024? NFL Fever 2003 holds some special memories for me and I always enjoy going back to this one.

I’m not crying, you are! 😢 holy shit, I’m in legit tears from that story near the end. Around that time period, I was going through the same thing, so that REALLY connected with me. Also, I’ve owned all 3 of the NFL Fever games. Loved them all. Thanks for sharing your story!
@@overkillz1986 thank you for watching I really appreciate it. Comments like these go a long way and I really appreciate you leaving it. Sorry to hear you were having a hard time back then. Sometimes the best we can do is bury ourselves in a game or distraction or a hobby just to get through. If you really liked the fever games I'll tell you this, it won't be up until January but I am doing a interview with the project manager for the fever series next week. I'm really looking forward to talking to her about the fever series.
@ thank you, man! You’re absolutely right about it being the best thing for you, especially when you just need something for your mental. And seriously!!? You’re doing an interview with him? Will it be on your channel? Or where can I watch it??
I made a custom team with players like Ray Finkle as my kicker, Bobby Boucher (Waterboy) as my Safety, Al Bundy #33 as my running back and a bunch of other fictional footbal characters. Had a lot of fun playing on Xbox live and hearing my opponents crack up at my custome players. :)
That's awesome! I used to do something similar where I would make linebackers as massive as I could and give them crazy names.
Cant say I agree with this lad. I thoroughly enjoyed tbe variation in the campaign. Zombies as a component has been a staple of blops for the entirety of the franchise. I liked how they integrated it into the chemical warfare that the villain intended to unleash. Its a small enough segment too. As for the multi. Having fun with it for the first time in years in all honesty. The last two cods were god awful imo
The campaign did offer a lot of variation but I didn't find it to be very intriguing. Again just my thoughts. The stealth elements I thought were fun but it seemed like you would get caught way too quickly and then the scud middle destroying mission I hated how they put this big map together to gather all this intel which in fairness you didn't have to as I didn't. But the zombie level just pushed it over the top. I have the original black ops review coming out next week and whole yes blops as always had the zombies I don't ever remember them being in any of the campaigns. And the whole grabbing the key card from the zombie demon that kept disappearing was just enough to piss me off and make me want to quit. I wish they would have handled the chemical scene similar to the original mw3 when they blew up the chemical truck. At its core if they would have stuck to the premise of a rat in the cia giving out info to the terror organization and giving them nukes and sticking to they plan to drop it on the capital and frame saddam now let's go kill bad guys I would have appreciated that. Maybe I'm just too old school and want my call of duty to be guns blazing as realistic of a military shooter as they can make. I did like the gameplay of multiplayer but all the skins and operator looks and designs feels like it was made for people 25 years younger then me. I'm glad you like it and are enjoying it. At the end of the day I can respect your opinion as it's different and that's all good.

I much prefer the Madden games on the PS2 but I will say this game this year has really surprised me and is a lot of fun.
I personally enjoyed the campaign for the most part. I just feel like the villain didnt allow us the time to get to know them besides the final mission so there wasnt really a reason to care about them being the big bad.
@@RHSavage12 I think if they would have focused just on a cia rat gave the pantheon a bio weapon, they are going to use it on the capital and frame sadaam, it would have worked. But the way they chose to implementation so many different styles of missions and gameplay. It's like the game didn't know what it wanted to do. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm glad to see people are enjoying it but there's also reviews by mainstream media that are paid for and don't tell the whole story sometimes. I think if they would have stuck with the very basic plot and done without the last few missions being in her head and the zombie level id have a different opinion.
There is no way this is the worst game in the series. I agree not everyone has to like this game, but there is literally no way Bo6 is worse than last years Mw3. I mean, cmon.
To be fair I only review games that I complete. That's doesn't mean platinum or unlock everything but I only review a game that I see the credits roll. I say that to say yes MW3 sucked and I honestly gave up after maybe 2 hours in. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed the ending
Does No one remember ghost
@@wills15 I talk a little bit about ghosts and I hated that one. My review for that game is also on the channel. Go watch the last 20 seconds of that video
Hey man, great review. Idk wtf the I am looking at here, it’s so pathetic that they put these zombies in the campaign. The single player is supposed to be a grounded military arcade shooter. The campaigns were historically the last place that CoD still had some decent military theming once their multiplayers lost all sense of authenticity. Sledgehammer and Treyarch don’t really make good games anymore unfortunately. The best CoD campaign I’ve player over the past several years was Infinite Warfare, somehow the one with the silliest setting has the most realistic military experience. It’s such a joke. So because of that I’m really interested to see what Infinity Ward does next time around.
He was under the influence of poison gas? It was a hallucination... It wasn't "part of the campaign" Black ops has always had mind games, this is just another one. Same as how you were a brainwashed villain in the last game and how Reznov was just your imagination the whole time.
@ Brainwashed to see a man with tentacles coming out of his head? LMAO! No thank you. CoD is supposed to be about war. Sometimes it’s direct warfare, sometimes it’s unseen warfare, it’s not about zombies and tentacle men. It’s just sad to see how far this franchise has fallen.
Thanks for watching. I agree the campaign should be completely grounded with a military shooter. It should be warfare not crazy zombies or a game with horror elements like jump scares and segments that leave you feeling like you were playing Returnal. A very disappointing campaign as I liked vanguard and cold war. Yea the clips in the game footage it just gets worse and worse
Agreed the black ops campaigns have always had twists like that but what happened in the original MW3 when the Russians blew up the truck with the biological gas, it wasn't a zombie shooter at that point you just had even more reason to kill the bad guy. But in bo6 what were they trying to do with the last few levels? Make a horror game with the jump scare ls and mannequins? Were they going for returnal elements looking through her head to find the mirror pieces? This isn't a grounded military shooter. But thanks for watching
@@LameDadRetroGamer Zombies were in Cold war as well when you took a wrong turn in the brainwash dream world and landed up underground. It's not like it's a driving force in the game. It's just providing alternative gameplay to try and be original. I get you want a grounded military shooter, I do too. But I didn't think the campaign was as bad as you guys make it out to be. They tried to target more the psychological side of intelligence agencies over just piling up bodies. By definition "call of duty" is just a responsibility to a cause. It WAS founded on world war 2, but there isn't anything wrong with them trying to diversify. Most of their money comes from Multiplayer anyway.
I have to say I completely disagree. I think the way they switch things up and keep things fresh is great, it has it's great shootout moments with the missions in Iraq, or the 3 Checkmate missions at the end. it has spooky moments in Emergence and Separation Anxiety. The stealth is fun but also, crutially, almost entirely optional. From memory, the only forced stealth moments are at the start of the Casino and Clinton missions. Other than that, you can shoot your way through the early assassination mission, the Vorkuta section and even some parts of the two missions I said earlier. I think it's totally fine that you didn't enjoy it, I just think some of your arguments are pretty flat
Thanks for watching. I can respect your thoughts and glad you think it's fresh. I'm just curious why the zombie segment which sucked. Fighting that invisible demon thing that would take the shape of a chair or garbage can? Come on that's a reach and stretching it. The end segments felt like they stole elements from returnal playing through her head and house segments. The spooky elements and jump scares don't belong in a military shooter. This game should be about war not fighting through hallucinating from gas. What happened in the original MW3 when the Russians blew up the gas truck? You had even more reason to go kill the bad guys. I think if they stick with the basic plot that the cia rat gave a bio weapon to a terrorist organization and they were going to nuke the capital and fram suddam huessin however you spell it would have been great without all the extra elements of the game going in many different directions. The mission at the end where you setup the rockets and satellite dish to go off is fine but was not needed. The vortuka mission where you are actually fighting should have been done better as that's where the series really started. Thanks for watching and hopefully this explains my flat arguments that I wasn't trying to spoil in my video review
Great review David
Nuketown was always a favorite of Cherry's and mine too. Lol hey now, I liked Ghosts. There it is haha, 2:57 4:17 yeah this looks like complete garbage. This is not COD. Good point about the lack of competition in this department. 6:33 I spy Bill Clinton. The footage is so terrible, I would never in a million years guess that this is a COD game. Good to see the saw back and for good use.
I thought you'd like that comment. Nuketown was great and I talk more about it in a upcoming video. Yea it's a rough game. Yea we need more medal of honors and battlefields and socom games to help drive them to make good games again. Yea wasn't too excited about destroying a brand new 70 game but hey it's not the first time I've done it. Thanks for watching
Well it's still a way better game than Battlefield 2042.
Yea I stopped playing Battlefield after BF1 as it got old and kinda stale. I much prefer the gameplay and elements of BF3
@@LameDadRetroGamer I agree with you on that.
Finally the ending I've been looking forward to in a long time lol! There's another option for those who are curious to try it without spending a ton of money, which is Gamepass! I have to admit that even I found the trailer really good and I'm not a fan of COD at all! In case you didn't know, EA are working on a new Battlefield game. Let's hope it will bring something good so that we can see that healthy competition again! Also I wouldn't mind a new Medal of Honor! Great video and keep up the good work!
Dan the man! I've heard about the game pass access and honestly I would be very interested in seeing the sales of the physical games on all the consoles vs the people just playing on game pass. I did hear recently there was a new BF in the works but wasn't sure how true it was. And agreed I could get down on a new medal of honor. Just a solid wargame would go a long way. Thanks for watching my brother I will catch up on your other comments here shortly
Nice review! I always enjoy hearing life stories related to a video game. And even if sometimes those stories can be a bit bleak, I look at them as stories of redemptions and how the fact that we were able to overcome that period of time! I have multiple stories related to video games, some bad but a lot of them good as well! Witcher 3 is one game that has the same effect on me. It's a modern game that has cracked my top 10 games of all time, even if what happened in my life during that specific time wasn't all that fun. This is why nostalgia for this hobby is so strong and I wouldn't have it any other way! Great video and keep up the good work!
Yea dude I agree, those moments are redemption and can be character building and defining games. Great to see that witcher 3 was that for you sorry to hear it was a difficult time but it's great that you were able to find the distraction needed to get through it. I don't wish those times on anyone but it's always worth it to find that outlet to help you get through it. Yea NFL Fever is one of my all time favorite games because of that connection. Thanks for watching my guy
Nice list of games! I don't know why some people look down upon sports games like that... back in the NES days that's mostly what I played as well as on the Genesis! And on every systems that I've owned after that I always picked up an NHL or MLB game up to the 360. That's the last console that I've played yearly sports and after that I stopped buying the new ones as I found that they were mostly roster updates. So many memories with my 360, happier days for sure! Here's my Top 10 on the 360 in no particular order: - Witcher 2 - Just Cause 2 - Assassin's Creed 2, Brotherhood and Revelation - The Saboteur - Elder Scrolls Oblivion - 007 Bloodstone - The Bourne Conspiracy - Dragon Age Origins - Fallout New Vegas - Gears of War Trilogy And I could seriously go on and on as there were so many great games on that system! You would think that with the number of studios that Microsoft owns now (and they just said that they're not done buying) that we would get bangers after bangers but it's not happening which is a shame in my opinion! But that could be an entire video by itself lol! Great video and keep up the good work!
Yea man I love the 360 and you listed some bangers down there as well. Agreed Microsoft should be able to hold their own and put out amazing games but they just haven't which is shocking. It's almost like they don't care to at this point. I seriously considered buying an Xbox series x or whatever the new one is called but then realized all I would use is gamepass and I would just end up playing old Xbox games that I currently have or the new ones that I would prefer to play on PS5. Not a good time for Microsoft
My nightmare fuel... But motivating me to be cautious and careful with my surrounding
It's a damn shame the game's so bad. I like the idea of blasting bad guys so much that I joined the army and went infantry to do it in real life (then found out afterwards that they mostly stopped sending guys into combat when I was about 14) so first person shooters could be some of my favorite video games but most of the ones I've played were boring. At least this one is good food for your miter saw.
This is one of the best comments I've received lol. Sorry to hear you couldn't blast guys. I wish I could have gone back and joined the Marines to do something similar back in 2006. Yea this game sucks not a worthy first person shooter. I hated destroying a brand new $70 game but hey that's how we do it. Thanks for watching my guy
LMFAOOOOO at the “identity crisis” analogy for the campaign 🤣🤣🤣! But seriously, as I watched this review, I started forgetting what game I was watching a review for…because this looks nothing like a COD style campaign, in what seems like a negative way. Infinite Warfare was the most divisive one in terms of how “different” the style was, but that at least “felt” like COD overall and surprised me as one of my favorites! The fact you said Ghosts was better…jeez man, that’s awful, cause that campaign stunk lol. Appreciate the honest review man!
Yea the footage of the game basically takes you through the entire story start to finish and you can see how it just gets off the rails. Yea I'm almost sorry I crapped so hard on ghosts as it's seriously a better game then this one. I would really like to see the sales numbers for the physical games. With this being on game pass everyone keeps telling me to play it there so it's easy for Activision to claim it as the most played cod ever because it's free on Xbox if you have game pass lol. Stay away man it's not worth it
I like the updates to the presentation especially the announcers and scoreboard

That face would make a nide reaction picture
even if EA and the NFL hadn't forged an exclusivity deal I don't think we'd have as much competition in the sports games market now as we did back then because of how the industry has shifted and how much money these games have to generate to be sustainable. 2k could have still been making MLB(which for a time they could have had all the xbox customers all to themselves) and NHL games and they walked away. As much as we hate them microtransactions and the need to keep people engaged long after the game has been released have become a necessity to offset the development cost to make these games, and like we've seen in other genres like hero shooters and MMO's there are only so many consumers that can be spread around to make these games worth it. But that being said I definitely miss the days when we had more options, and because there wasn't really anything you could do to enhance the game after you put it out there on store shelves you really had no choice but to bring the goods at launch if you wanted to be competitive, rather than promising stuff down the road through patches and season passes and stuff. It's crazy how EA can put out a game and market it saying parts of a mode wont be available until a couple months after. I also liked when the first parties had their own sports games like Microsoft with Fever, even Nintendo had their own basketball and baseball series for a while
It was always fun playing the exclusive consoles sports games like kobe bryant courtside or even when the 2K series first came out and they were only exclusive for the dreamcast. That didn't last long but it was fun. Every franchise back then felt like it had character. The only publisher for sports games that I really think cares anymore is San Diego Studios with MLB the show series. I was really hopeful for College Football 25 because all they had to do honestly was take NCAA 14 update the graphics add the rosters and change the college football system and they would have had a banger game. It's sad that its a market that has been monopolized but as long as people continue to buy product it doesn't matter. Thats just smart business 1:1. I have made the decision though that I will not buy a new Madden or NHL game until the PS6 comes out. Thanks for watching and stopping by the channel.
It's kind of insane that none of these indie developers can even replicate games from 25 years ago. Football video game technology died in in the early 2000s.

@@hitek9too255 It does, but fever still holds up against it.
I always thought the NFL fever games looked better graphics wise than Madden. 😊
I think my issue with the graphics is more around the animations of the game. The way the qb looks when he drops back. The way the lineman look kind of chunky which granted they're lineman so they will look chunky. Fevers graphics still hold up really well.... surprisingly well if you can figure out how to play in emulation running at 1080
