Freedom Fighters looks incredible. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on these games so we can see stuff that flew under the radar. Also, congrats on getting 1,000 subscribers!!
I highly recommend checking out Freedom Fighters man! Such an underrated gem. Thank you for the awesome compliment, as well as the congrats! Really appreciate your support man!
I am a long time Gamecube collector (20+ years, 200+ games) and I consider Pitfall The Lost Expedition to be the very first hidden gem I have encountered on the console. I'm glad you bring it here! Cool video btw!
Awesome to hear of another GameCube collector! Pitfall The Lost Expedition is one I always felt didn’t get the recognition it should’ve gotten. Such a fun game that no one ever talks about. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Fun video to watch. 2 big standouts for me was the Spartans title, and the impressive amount of NPCs on screen, and the combat was reminiscent of a God of War and Lord of The Rings title from that generation. Impressive for sure. And Freedom Fighters is so identifiable as the same engine Hitman 2 used. Character models and color palettes are incredibly similar. 👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you man! Yes, I think you’d love both Spartan and Freedom Fighters! Glad you noticed FF was using the same engine as Hitman 2! Glad you enjoyed the video man!
Pitfall The Lost Expedition was my introduction to Pitfall. Needless to say, the secret item that allowed me to play the Atari classic in a hidden area was one of my favorite secrets to find as a young gamer.
Freedom fighters is a classic. Only recently beat it again after all these years..it's actually really hard in certain spots too. Great coverage ad usual

Great video, as always! Freedom Fighters was a game that I played the heck out of when I first had the GC. Definitely a solid title for its time and I think still holds up if you go back and play it today.
Thank you, GMR! Freedom Fighters is such an awesome game and it’s a shame not too many people played it. I definitely feel it holds up pretty well. Thanks for checking out the video again man!
Gun , Freedom Fighters and Spartan Warrior were excellent games . Thanks for the nostalgia 👍. I haven't seen Freedom Fighters for many years but I remember being really surprised as to how good it was back in the day . Spartan Warrior was just a sheer blast fest hacking everyone who came at you. The boss fights were cool as well especially the Hydra as I recall . Gun was brutal and you could even scalp enemies lol . Ahhhhh, these games were gold really . Can developers not just look back over the years and make classic games like these again 🤔😔. Oh , and why did I trade my GameCube only just a few years ago 😮😮😮. I must have been mad lol .
Agreed man! Those really are great games! I think the problem with developers nowadays is that many people in the industry lack the passion that these devs had, as well as publishers forcing certain elements in games. Very few games nowadays actually stand out as excellent experiences, whereas back then, each game felt fresh and unique. Thanks for checking out the video man!
XIII is another good one that I originally captured for this list…but I am planning for a THIRD Hidden Gems video in the near future to mention that one in lol. Metal Arms is excellent and actually was featured in my “Top 10 Hidden Gems” list earlier last year. Easily one of the biggest hidden gems on the GameCube. 👍
Sure thing! Definitely a game that deserves more recognition (and one I want to go back to finish and review on the channel). Thanks for checking out the video!
Very interesting list man! Makes me VERY happy to see Spartan and Freedom Fighters on here! I have never played Custom Robo, Amazing Island, Virtua Quest, Pitfall or Bomberman Generations so I need to check those out!
Glad you enjoyed the list! Once you recommended Spartan Total Warrior to me, I tried it out and was like “damn, this is awesome!”…so I had to give you that shoutout lol. Freedom Fighters is another that I wish many played (and hoping from this video, some will give it a chance). Definitely recommend checking out the titles you missed out on playing. Would be curious to your thoughts on them. Thanks again for checking out the video man!
As a Crash series fan, it is very eye opening for me to find out about crash_tag team racing being featured here (Didn’t knew it existed tbh). Kinda awesome for you to include it in Hidden gems. Might try it out on an emulator (Till I can source myself a Gcube that is☺️).
Glad to hear you learned about Crash Tag Team Racing in this video! Such a great game that I recommend playing one day! Thanks for checking out the video man!
Dude, Spartan and Gun were two of the best games I have ever played on my XBox Original. I liked how some enemies could get wounded in Gun, and all the different weapons in Spartan.
this is the best hidden gems video on Gamecube that I've seen. lots of real gems here, not just the "hidden" cult classic titles that everyone gushes about. it made me so happy to see spartan total warrior
Wow, thank you for the awesome compliment! I try to do Hidden Gems episodes that focus more on lesser known titles, than the usual cult classics. While I still mention a cult classic hidden gem in each of these episodes, I really want to showcase there’s far more hidden gems out there for the GC! Spartan Total Warrior is a badass game too! Thanks again for checking out the video man!
The footage in this video looks amazing!!! Very sharp and clean!! Did you use an emulator or captured it all directly from the console with some upscaler?
Thanks man! Everything you see in my videos is captured from the actual console itself, combined with the EON GCHD and mClassic HDMI adapter. I really appreciate you checking out the video, and enjoying it!
Great freaking video dude 😊 my wallet hates you 😂 but seriously every game on this list looks amazing I’m definitely gonna have to check a few of these out thanks for the information keep up the amazing work😊
Thank you man! Haha, sorry about your wallet! Every game here really was great! Glad you enjoyed the video man! Any in particular that stood out the most (or that you'd get first)?
Fantastic video! I learned so much from watching this and discovered some games that I easily would have passed up like Pitfall because I thought it was a kid's game. Custom Robo and Virtua Quest look great too. Even that Bomberman game looks interesting. We all know I picked up Lost Kingdoms II recently and to a less exciting extent Freedom Fighters so it was cool to see those mentioned here. One game that I do have and really enjoyed as a kid was Gun. Great Western that was overlooked by many. What a great video, GCG thanks for introducing me to some new games, they are now on my list.
Thank you man! Glad you learned about so new games to add to the collection! Pitfall is such a fun platformer that many slept on. Custom Robo is great, and Virtua Quest is quite solid despite not faring well critically back in the day. Lost Kingdoms II is SO good, and glad you got it! Freedom Fighters is also a game I think you’ll really like as well! Gun is a game I far prefer over Red Dead Redemption for a Western. Such a good game that unfortunately didn’t become a franchise. Thanks for checking out the video as always man!
Definitely a hidden gem for the GameCube! Yeah, that mini-game I felt like I couldn’t figure out the rhythm lol. I’ll have to try it again one day 👍. Thanks for checking out the video!
Like 60% of the games on GameCube are hidden gems because the general culture (Japan or West) did not buy the console at the time, and yet Nintendo was still able to convince a lot of developers to make exclusives for the console (the fact they finally went to cheaper-to-manufacture and license discs and were more reconciliatory due to Sony enabling a mass stampede to their consoles forcing Nintendo's hand). Everything from Cubivore to Go Go Hypergrind to Gotcha Force to the Lost Kingdom and Baten Kaitos games.
Agreed 100%! I think that is what’s made the GC so enticing nowadays, is that people are starting to see it had a robust lineup of games, and some truly unique experiences. Go! Go! Hypergrind is such a great game too! Thanks again for checking out the video!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, Virtua Quest and Amazing Island are both really cool games worth checking out! Thank you again for checking out the video!
Certainly some food for thought here. I have the first Lost Kingdom, but haven't played it yet. Freedom Fighters looks interesting, and I have it and Gun sitting in my PS2 backlog. Great video mate 😎👍
The first Lost Kingdoms is a great hidden gem, and the sequel continues that trend for sure! Freedom Fighters is also one that really deserves more appreciation, alongside Gun. I always think it’s great to see lesser discussed games highlighted, especially from previous consoles nowadays, as it rekindles interest in those said games. Glad you enjoyed the video man! Really appreciate you checking it out!
Nice list! Spartan flew under my radar for sure but I'll need to check it out! Freedom Warriors as well! Lost Kingdom 2 looks good as well! I rented Gun back then on the OG Xbox and it was fun! I need to add it to my collection! My wish just keeps getting better at each of your vid that I watch lol! Great video and keep up the good work!
Thank you man! I completely skipped Spartan thinking it was an RTS (I’m not the biggest fan of the RTS genre personally lol), and hearing it was a hack-and-slash, I was like “wait, what? I need to play this!” Freedom Fighters is an awesome game too! Lost Kingdoms 2 is one of my favorites on this list! Shame it’s so dang expensive now…Glad to hear you played Gun and enjoyed it! Thank you again for checking out the video, and glad you enjoyed it (as well as added more games to your wish list lol)!
Freedom Fighters was a great game that many overlooked, I played it on Xbox back in the day. Custom Robo reminds me of a Sega Saturn game called Robo Pit, where you build a custom robot & then can haven them fight (using AI). I know it's a very different game in terms of gameplay, but just brought back memories of playing that at a cottage with friends.
I agree that Freedom Fighters really deserves more appreciation. Still such a cool game! I’ve heard of Robo Pit on the Sega Saturn but never played it. I’ll have to give that a look though, thanks! Thanks for checking out the video man!
Custom Robo is such a cool series that I wish Nintendo would revisit. I really enjoyed what I played so far on the GameCube, and want to check out the DS game as well. Thanks for checking out the video!
Thank you! I use an Elgato HD60 to capture footage, and have the EON GCHD and mClassic adapter paired to an actual GameCube, which gives it the crisp look. Hope this helps! Also glad you found some gems to look into!
Surprised you didn’t mention that Custom Robo didn’t get a release here in the UK/in Europe. I remember seeing it in a magazine beforehand and then disappointed that we didn’t get to play it here 😩
I actually didn't realize until after I launched this episode that Custom Robo was never released in the UK. That's an odd omission for sure! Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy ah ok, no worries. Yeah we used to get proper screwed over here, Mario RPG never got a UK release until they put it on the virtual console years later 😩

I ADORE Freedom Fighters! Such easy-to-pick-up controls and gameplay, engaging story and it's such a shame it didn't sell much. It gives me Red Dawn vibes. Its awesome
I remember skipping it back in the day not knowing what it was. Now though, it’s definitely a unique experience for the GameCube I wish I played sooner! Thanks for checking out the video man!
I recently played Pitfall and it was so much fun! Agreed about the art direction. The backtracking was quite tedious, and the raft controls were terrible, but it's still the kind of old-school platformer I'd love to see more on current consoles. There's also a Wii port that allows you to play with the GameCube controller.
The backtracking in Pitfall was a bit tedious for sure, but I was having so much fun with it, it didn’t hinder the experience much luckily. I remember seeing the Wii port, but the cover art and title were heavily changed, which is odd. Glad to hear you can play the Wii version with the GC controller! Thanks for checking out the video man!
@@11platupus that’s awesome it was your first GameCube game! Yeah it really is one that no one talks about, which is a shame. Thank you for checking out the video!
Oh dude, the farting loading screen from Crash is rich in fiber goodness…I HAD to use it lol! Freedom Fighters is an awesome game too! Thanks for checking out the video man!
Spartan:Total Warrior looks amazing! Right up my alley. I love custom robo! Great game to talk about in a hidden gem video! Amazing Island looks amazing! And developed by sega? Count me in! Virtua Quest!!! Yes!!! So fun! Haha Crash took a visit to taco bell 🤣 Ive heard freedom fighters is a good one. Gonna have to check it out. Gun is definitely a hidden gem! I like it quite a bit more than Red Dead. Great round of picks once again GCG! Thanks for sharing! Now I have more homework to do haha
Many Sega games on this list that deserve to be played! Definitely give Amazing Island a look! Crash definitely had several visits to Taco Bell…but then again, I actually had Taco Bell last night 😂. Freedom Fighters has such a great premise and really is a lot of fun to play. Glad to see someone else agrees that Gun was more enjoyable for them than Red Dead lol. Glad you enjoyed the video man! Thanks for checking it out!
Really hope you make a video based on Cancelled Gamecube Games, there are some really good ones like Crank The Weasel and GI Joe: Operation Ultra that we're sadly canned.
I’m definitely planning on doing that one day! GI Joe: Operation Ultra sounded amazing, and really stinks that was cancelled. Thanks for checking out this video!
I love Crash Tag Team Racing on Gamecube!! it's a lot of fun and runs perfectly!! This and Sonic Riders are my personal fav Kart style Racing games for The Cube.
Glad to see someone else who’s played Crash Tag Team Racing and loved it! Such an under-appreciated game! Sonic Riders is also really cool! I covered that in my “Every Sonic GameCube Game” episode, and was pleasantly surprised how much fun it was. It was the only Sonic game I never played on the GameCube until I covered it then. Thanks again for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy I know I checked out some of your videos including this one. I am anxious to see what else you'll cover next. I even have a suggestion/request for next video(s).

I remember Virtua Quest. Adam and Morgan from X-Play didn’t like it. You made me slightly interested, though. Maybe I ought to give Freedom Fighters a try.
Virtual quest it’s a game i didn’t knew it existed I have never seen a copy in the wild or heard about it looks interesting imma see if I can find it for the cube or ps2 since it doesn’t say only for so I assume I came on other platforms
Virtua Quest is definitely a lesser known game, but it is available on both the GameCube and PS2. The PS2 version is much cheaper in value. Definitely a fun game! Hope this helps, and thanks for checking out the video!
It really is an awesome western game! The other western game I love is Sunset Riders. Red Dead Redemption is just a game I really couldn't get into and had to force myself to beat...and that's never a good indication lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
My wallet begs you to stop 😂😂😂 jk! I love these videos. I knew about most of these games, but I hadn't seen such a deep look into some! So now I want them even more LOL!

Ultimate Spider-Man is an awesome game! Easily the best Spider-Man game for the GameCube! I actually covered it in my “Every Marvel GameCube Game” and “Top 10 Licensed Games for the GameCube” videos 👍.
I never realized it didn’t release in the UK! Nintendo should really re-release the title worldwide. An HD remaster would be perfect to get people more aware of the game I’d think. Thanks for checking out the video!
I didn’t say it was “better than Red Dead Redemption”, but rather that I had more fun with this than RDR. RDR is an impressive game, but I personally preferred Gun’s gameplay is all lol. Thanks for checking out the video!

@@GameCubeGalaxy great game my first one for the GameCube when I was a kid so nostalgic no one ever talks about that game great to see
@@11platupus that’s awesome it was your first GameCube game! Yeah it really is one that no one talks about, which is a shame. Thank you for checking out the video!
In Crash TTR if you flick the stick in different directions during loading screen it will pitch the burps / farts accordingly
Wow, I never knew that! Thanks for sharing this! Now I need to try that this week lol.
Great fart jokes and freedom fighters does look really good
Oh dude, the farting loading screen from Crash is rich in fiber goodness…I HAD to use it lol! Freedom Fighters is an awesome game too! Thanks for checking out the video man!
Holy shit there's more. Can't wait
Hope you found more gems to check out here!
Awesome list thank you.
Sure thing! Glad you enjoyed it!
I didnt know there was a pitfall games after the mayan adventure! may have to treat myself....
Definitely worth it! The Mayan Adventure was also awesome 👍. Thanks for checking out the video man!
Now I have some new games to hunt for
Glad to hear! Thanks for checking the video out!
Loved pitfall as a kid
Such a good game! Definitely a hidden gem. Thanks for checking out the video!
Freedom Fighters I beat for the OG Xbox way back in the day awesome game for sure!!! I'll have to check out Gun!!!
Freedom Fighters is definitely one I wish got more attention, but glad to hear you played/beat it! Definitely recommend Gun also! Thanks for checking out the video!
Hope this helps, and thanks for checking out the video!
i have the sparan one aand it is one of my favs
Such a good game! Glad I finally got around to playing it last year. Thanks for checking out the video!
By quality of games alone the GC should have outsold the DVD player
Agreed!
Gun is the superior western game, nobody can tell me any different. It's tge only one I've enjoyed.
It really is an awesome western game! The other western game I love is Sunset Riders. Red Dead Redemption is just a game I really couldn't get into and had to force myself to beat...and that's never a good indication lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy you know what I forgot about sunset riders also I love that game too.
My wallet begs you to stop 😂😂😂 jk! I love these videos. I knew about most of these games, but I hadn't seen such a deep look into some! So now I want them even more LOL!
Lmao! I’d say Lost Kingdoms II is the most expensive on this list, followed by Virtua Quest, but the others are still a bit more reasonable haha. Glad you enjoyed the deep dive on these game, and that you’re loving the videos man! Thank you!
@@GameCubeGalaxy for sure! Keep it up! I'm not the only one LOVING the GameCube videos :)
@@SMALLSandJOE Thank you man! That means a lot!
Pool paradise, re4, mario golf.
Ive 100% completed gun a couple times it a great game
Oh awesome! I still need to go back and complete it, but man, that game REALLY surprised me! I was definitely enjoying that more than Red Dead Redemption honestly! Thanks for checking out the video man!
Virtua Quest looks cool
@@LEONthemercenarie it’s definitely a neat one! Definitely one I want to go back, finish, and review in-depth on the channel. Thanks for checking out the video man!
More games to add to the never ending buy list 🤦♂️ 😂
Lol! I know the feeling! Thanks for checking out the video man!
Wow🔥👏👏
Thank you for checking out the video!
Gun is incredible what framerate does it run it on Gamecube? Because it is locked 30 on PC sadly
It’s definitely a great game from what I played so far! Gun runs around the 30fps range on GameCube as well, but with some framerate drops here and there. Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy ah rip...
Are you trying ultimate Spiderman? NYC is amazing and really cool Spiderman game.
Ultimate Spider-Man is an awesome game! Easily the best Spider-Man game for the GameCube! I actually covered it in my “Every Marvel GameCube Game” and “Top 10 Licensed Games for the GameCube” videos 👍.
Where gotcha force!?!?
Wish I could of played custom robo but it never came out in the UK 😥
I never realized it didn’t release in the UK! Nintendo should really re-release the title worldwide. An HD remaster would be perfect to get people more aware of the game I’d think. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxy that would be great! Custom robo looks really unique would be great to see a remaster! No worries dude 👌
I loved customed robo 2
It was on gamcube though not ds lol
Maybe it was the first game 😂
thank you so much
You're welcome! Thank you for checking the video out!
This hidden gems is exclusive to GameCube?
Some of these are like Lost Kingdoms II, Amazing Island, Bomberman Generations, and Custom Robo. 👍
No doubt but get freedom fighters on pc
hey
Did he just say gun is better than red dead redemption?😂
I didn’t say it was “better than Red Dead Redemption”, but rather that I had more fun with this than RDR. RDR is an impressive game, but I personally preferred Gun’s gameplay is all lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
@@GameCubeGalaxyyou’re a mad man😂 I haven’t really played gun that much only done like 2 hours on the game, gonna need to complete it at some point
