I own a 86 Nissan D21 and his vacuum lines seem to be correct hard to be exactly sure since he removed the bracket holding the lines to front of air cleaner
Just found one @rock auto. Hope it works. Dealer warned nearly $200. This is a tax for keeping old relics alive instead of Paying sales tax on a new frontier.
Yes I know the pain, been driving my 86 Hardbody since buying it new Feb 1986 still runs great but when ever need parts I break out in cold sweat, I need fuel pressure regulator impossible to get now, seen one on e bay but for 86 Pathfinder he sold it $300 used for what should be a $15 part new, ridiculous
@@jenbill i don't get why parts should be so tough for a truck that sold in the millions. You can still get stuff for Studebaker and model As! I could not get the wax solenoid out...it welded itself into the housing. If I hadn't had a spare throttle body, it would have gotten ugly. It went together easy, and for the first time in years I can set my hot and cold idle speeds right where I need them. I feel like scavenging parts on the pick/pull sale days and hoarding. At least it passed CA smog. Super clean at 2500 rpm, but very close at idle. I suspect either leaky injector or cat is weak. 425000 miles is a lot. But they must have used tough parts to still work at all! Big Bro wants our old stuff off the road. Let's fight as long as we can. Hopefully its still cheaper than car payments.
Worked. Able to idle down now and pass smog. Getting old one out of housing was the hurdle. I'm sure its really a $20 part, but as supplies dry up the gouging begins. It works just like a regular radiator wax thermostat. Maybe I was lucky to get it for $90?
@@TIJoe-te9qu I think the problem is they stayed with the Z24i engine for only a couple years limiting production numbers, just fixed injector leak the other day of course can’t get those anymore also but $11 dollars on e bay got the seals and filters for both and fixed that, I didn’t even have to remove the throttle body like the service manual says took needle nose Vice Scrips to top of injector and pulled it straight out saved a ton of work hate to break seals on anything that’s not leaking.
My z24i when I turn it on in the morning it doesn't wanna lower the rpms it's in 1200 rpms most of the time but when it finally heats up after like an hour it comes down to 500rpm .. oh yeah and it dose have a thermostat I don't know anymore
sorry so long. start up when cold, runs smooth for a few seconds then starts to sputter and sometimes dies. have to keep it revved up at a stop, but accelerates normal. after 5 minutes of driving it warms up then idles fine but it does sound like its not burning all he fuel when idling (pops) and smells like its running rich
JLOVE2188 ok go to google and search for 1989 Nissan tbi diagram and it will show you all the steps to fix your tbi it worked for me it has all the steps it appears in an AutoZone page
All you had to do was heat it with a heat gun and the element will retract. You did this the hardest way possible.
Have you done this repair?
@@thetruth4580 Yes, I have.
Are your vacuum hoses hooked up correctly? I'm trying to use your video as an example to hook up mine ..thank you
