So sad to see that it was a great university before the covid19 pandemic. Now it has changed as many other universities in the world. Education got affected tremendously. Hopefully they can get as good as it was again. Majestic place. Wish I can be there soon when this ends.
Awesome :) Good luck! Please share the channel with anyone you know who's going to uni next year - I've done reviews of all the universities in Melbourne.
My alma mater - I'm old enough to have gone to lectures in the Masson theatre, the lecture theatre that takes up three storeys of the Chemistry building. It's massive! I don't think they fill it any more, for WHS reasons. It seated hundreds of students, and would be full for first year lectures (what with science, engineering and medicine first years all doing the subject). AND we had the rolling blackboards that were also three storey high. Plus the little skinny ones at either side of the big one in the middle. We used to draw race tracks, and have chalk 'car' races on them. The blokes who had the job of cleaning all the blackboard panels off after each lecture - yes, it was a job - hated it when we did that.
This is my number 1 preference for studying this year! Bachelor of Arts major in psychology, and I really really hope I get an offer from them. Ig the big difficulty will be seeing if it will be online again this year or not - no idea how it’ll react to omicron or if this wave will be resolved by feb 24th (when uni starts) or not. Regardless, im super excited for the experience and all the clubs and knowledge and friends I’ll be able to come into contact with!!! Hello Rob, I have recieved an admit from University of Melbourne for the July intake and I'm an international student. According to you will Australian government accept international students for the coming semester in regards to coronavirus. I would like your opinion or prediction on this topic. Thanks
Hi Justin, Sorry for the delayed reply, I missed your comment. The Government has made it clear that 1. They first want campuses reopened to students already in Australia, then 2. International students might be permitted to arrive, but will have to self-isolate for 2 weeks before rejoining classes. I think we'll probably know in the next 2-3 weeks if students will be allowed to commence semester 2 in Australia. The universities are definitely pushing for it....
@@jakobesti International students tend to pay more at Australian institutions versus local students. e.g. A bachelors would cost a local student $28k AUD, for an international it would be double to triple that amount.
In my opinion the Melbourne uni colleges are halls with a bit of extra support rather than the traditional collegiate system found in Oxford, Cambridge, Durham and UHI. It’s worth considering whether $800/week of rent can be better spent.
Thanks for the opinion Brett. $800/week is certainly a lot of money. I've spoken with quite a few students at universities around the country about living in colleges and most reported good, positive experiences. That was especially true when they had moved "into town" from the country in order to go to uni. All depends on having the financing available and what you're looking for in an experience at uni I guess!
Hi. as an international student, I would like to work part time and pay tuition fees. Please recommend a university location where i easily find part time jobs. I would be super super thankful. not ashamed to say family is not well off. thank you so much.
I understand. Many many students work while studying to pay their fees. Work is only one element. You also want to think about cost of living. For example, Sydney is VERY expensive, so i wouldn’t choose Sydney. Cities like Adelaide and Perth are MUCH cheaper, but still with lots of work available. You could also consider one of Australia’s excellent regional universities: USQ, CSU, and CQU are the standouts to me. For a completely unique experience, Charles Darwin has some areas of strength, depending on what you want to study. Good luck!
Hi mate, I'm planning for my masters in industrial engineering in Melbourne but people say the job prospects are low in australia.. what's your thought on this? Do the employers care about the university you have graduated from?
I haven’t heard that. Engineers are in high demand. It of course depends on what specialisations you have but industrial engineering should have pretty broad appeal…
@@ChoosingYourUni my stream is mechanical so basically into manufacturing and operations, supply chain ..Yeah its basically aligned with industrial oriented stuffs
@@ChoosingYourUni Also is that TRUE employers prefer those who are with PR/citizenship than the graudated freshers?..I've been hearing all the noises that graduates work in the streams/jobs which are unrelated to what they have studied in their masters
This uni is really well known for their strong research so anything disciplines that are clinically focused will be closely linked to real world, current research in the field. For something like psych, which has evolved a lot in the past 2-3 decades, I think that’s a real advantage.

Thanks for the video .It was very informative I am enrolled in Masters in Data Science I really wanted to know is the rent affordable for an international student and what are some of the cheaper options? Also wanted to know how is the job market for data science if possible. Thanks
Data science is an exploding job area. I can’t imagine you’d have trouble finding work once you have that degree. Melbourne is quite expensive for rent, as is Sydney. Though you could always share with other students. Check out Realestate.com.au for an idea about rental prices in parts of Melbourne.
Alberto Raya not sure. Their updates will come soon. All i know now is their border is closed for 3 months according to the resources. But it will be better if we can fly to Australia and attend our lectures in university rather than online classes. Hope so thing will get better by jan 2021
This may be a weird comment, sorry about that. I'm aiming to study here for my Bachelors in 2020, is it affordable here? Are the part time jobs well paying?
All Australian unis cost the same for domestic students via the HECS scheme. You can defer payments until you start working so don’t need the cash upfront. There should be plenty of casual work in and around the uni, particularly as the economy starts to reopen after the craziness of last year.
Melbourne Uni is one of the most expensive in the country for international students. There’s no tuition deferral scheme for international students (unlike domestic students).
Hi Rob, I'm an international student who aspires to pursue an undergrad business degree in Australia. After a bit of research, I figured out that I would be happy to gain acceptance at either USyd or Unimelb or UNSW. I will be applying to all three, but can't decide which one I'd chose if I, by God's grace, get accepted to all three. Could you help me out? I would be highly obliged if you could let me know which one you would chose and why. Also, could you tell me which college has the best extracurricular oppurtunities, on campus accomodation, and student life? Thanks a ton! Subscribed!
Thanks for writing Rohan. I would tackle this question a different way since all three are top universities. I would wait to see which ones I received offers for and then weigh them up.

Hi there I live near there and visited the campus. My parent went to there Monash uni and Harvard in Michigan. If you want to stay n one of the colleges (houses) like trinity or Ormond they are either very expensive, offered to kids with scholarships or offered to international and rural students. The teachers there are amazing. The quality of education is above and beyond. Coming out of Melbourne uni makes you highly employable. The science courses are highly competitive with the lowest atar (Australian GPA) student taken was 96 percent (approx 6 GPA). The law courses there are amazing. do well in school, apply early and to others universities like Melbourne eg: RMIT, Monash, ANU, UNSW. Do the most to increase your chances of getting into Melbourne. They are always building things. There is going to be a train station that is at one of many entries/exits. It is really close to the cbd and there is Bourke street mall a 10 minute walk away at Swanson street. Hope this helps.
Are there good courses to study a more contemporary style of music. I keep trying to find a course that suits me since I am a guitar player/singer who loves pop rock music, but, keep finding courses that are more focussed on either opera, jazz or orchestral music. If someone could please help me with gaining some information on music or performing arts courses I would really appreciate it.
@@ChoosingYourUni I have actually looked at their Bachelor of Music program. It's one of my top choices. Is there a Sydney or Melbourne campus or are all campuses in Queensland
Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) is a subset of Melbourne Uni that has contemporary music courses! I don't do it personally but have a lot of mates that do and I think they really like it! I think it's quite competitive as well though although I'm not 100%, worth looking into!!
Southern Cross's main campus is in a beautiful part of Northern NSW, Lismore. It's a small town, but a great community and not far from beautiful bushland and beaches about 30 minute drive away.
It’s impossible to give a general response to this - some students will be fine and some will not be fine. Depends on your personal capabilities and needs. But it’s fairly simple - if you’re not as academically strong, and NEED to work to survive, take fewer classes each semester to reduce your uni workload so you can work. But if you don’t need as much cash and are going fine with classes, stick with a full load of classes. Find the balance - it will always be a unique formula for you. A good lesson for life in general!
@@ChoosingYourUni thank you. For computer science what do you think would be the best university to go to in Melbourne in terms of employment in general and overseas? I am just a bit confused right now on what university to go to as I got accepted at Monash but I feel that rmit and Swinburne would be good too
All 3 of those are great unis and have areas of strength. Monash is the most “reputable”, Swinburne has great industry engagement and career programs and RMIT has strong work integrated learning programs and overseas study options (as does Monash, actually). Is there one of those that has academic areas that interest you most? Look at the detail - ie what subjects and majors are offered?
My advice would be to do some Google searching with those subject names + each uni. Try to find out what active research they are conducting in those areas and pick the unis that have research areas that interest you. That’s because whatever unis are researching they will naturally also highlight more in their teaching (since all unis will teach the “basics”). Is that a crazy idea?
There are remarks that the tutors at unimelb were not enthusiastic about teaching, students there were snobby, and the staff were especially very mean towards students! How many of this would you say is true and is aware of?
That sounds like a small collection of individual experiences. You should always be wary when someone makes generalisations like “students are snobby”. There are tens of thousands of students at UniMelb. Sure, you will find some snobs... but all of them? No. Likewise for tutors and staff. Never tar everyone with the same brush.
UniMelb has really good sports facilities, including basketball courts and teams. The fitness facilities are really good. Is there anything else you'd like to know? Oh! And if you could please subscribe that really helps me out!
Hey there! I really need your advice about the university. I received an offer letter to study in both RMIT and The University of Melbourne. I’m going to do my bachelors in computer science. I’ve done a little research and found out that uni melb’s faculty is detached with undergraduate students and also that there is no help in finding career opportunities. Whereas in RMIT, there is strong support from faculty and also good help in finding career opportunities. However, I really can’t decide my college based on few student reviews. I don’t know how else I can actually get a genuine suggestion. Can you please help me out here? I do not want to miss out a great opportunity like studying in The University of Melbourne.
Congratulations, you’re choosing between two excellent unis. Why I WOULD go to UniMelb: - Australia’s most prestigious university - beautiful campus - very strong for research Why I WOULD go to RMIT: - one of the BEST unis in Australia for work integrated learning and real-world teaching and integration with business - strong in applied research - right in the middle of the CBD so HEAPS to do Why I WOULD NOT go to UniMelb: - maybe cost? I imagine it is going to be the most expensive option Why I WOULD NOT go to RMIT: - if you really don’t like being in the middle of a city Hope that helps! My opinions only. Follow your gut feeling.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I missed your comment.
I just got an offer to study here!
Congratulations!! 🍾
Congrats! You should be thankful, many people like me wish to study there too but don't have the financial support. Anyways all the best!
@@JerinnGroverr Thanks. Are you an international student by any chance?
@@wolvAUS Why are you asking? I'm an international student and asking purely out of curiosity.
Where did you get the music? I wanna listen to it :D
It’s free stock music. There’s tonnes of it on the internet. We also like using JukeDeck and TH-cams license-free music options.
Hi. as an international student, I would like to work part time and pay tuition fees.
@@ChoosingYourUni Engineers for mining, oil and gas are in high demand I already know that but what about in general? What's the scenario mate
How is the clinical psychology master's course there? Looking to study in a couple years. Please let me know!
This uni is really well known for their strong research so anything disciplines that are clinically focused will be closely linked to real world, current research in the field. For something like psych, which has evolved a lot in the past 2-3 decades, I think that’s a real advantage.
Hi Rob,
I am planning for July intake I have applied to University of Adelaide, UTS, Monash University, RMIT, University of Sydney. I am planning to pursue masters in AI can u plz help.
Replied on one of your other comments. Just thinking program (nothing else), I like UTS and Monash most, but all are good unis.
Me too. I have enrolled for Msc in computer science. Feb 2021 intake
Great!
@@rheajose9117 do you know if its going to be possible for int. students to arrive for those dates?
Alberto Raya not sure. Their updates will come soon. All i know now is their border is closed for 3 months according to the resources. But it will be better if we can fly to Australia and attend our lectures in university rather than online classes. Hope so thing will get better by jan 2021
This may be a weird comment, sorry about that.
I'm aiming to study here for my Bachelors in 2020, is it affordable here? Are the part time jobs well paying?
Are you an international or domestic student?
@@ChoosingYourUni I’m a domestic student but also interested in the subject. Will most likely be going to Melbourne
All Australian unis cost the same for domestic students via the HECS scheme. You can defer payments until you start working so don’t need the cash upfront.
There should be plenty of casual work in and around the uni, particularly as the economy starts to reopen after the craziness of last year.
@@ChoosingYourUni I'm an international student, and thanks for the info!
Melbourne Uni is one of the most expensive in the country for international students. There’s no tuition deferral scheme for international students (unlike domestic students).
Hi Rob,
I'm an international student who aspires to pursue an undergrad business degree in Australia.

Thanks for writing Rohan.
I would tackle this question a different way since all three are top universities. I would wait to see which ones I received offers for and then weigh them up.
Got it. I'll come back once the decisions are announced.
Thanks for the reply
You bet. Happy to share some thoughts once you’ve narrowed it down 👍
@@rohanali3816 I’ve got into all of the group of 8 universities and narrowed it down to UniMelb and USYD. Tbh for international students it’d be one out of these two. I’m still deciding too!
Congrats.
In terms of prestige they would be top, but maybe not in terms of overall student experience for you... it really depends exactly what you’re looking for.
i really want to go to this university or maybe the University of western australia im still not sure
Both are excellent in so many ways.
Hello .. I want to do bachelor in computer science engineering ( major - software engineering)
Which Australian universities should I apply for this?
So many great unis for that. You’d need to be more specific for me to be able to provide more tailored advice.
@@ChoosingYourUni I want the tution fees to be less than 26000 aud with 30 % scholarship..
Please tell me political science relevant subjects
Easiest just to Google that 👍
Awesome nice place and my dream
A good dream to have my friend! You can do it!
How is the university for MS in Construction Management? My son has applied for the July term 2020.
Great uni!
@@ChoosingYourUni Thank you.... really appreciate the reply.
heyy do you have any advice for someone who wants to study here ? i’m from america but would like to go to unimelb how are the jobs and tuitions w dorms etc ??
I’ve just published two videos from exchange and study abroad students - just search for UniMelb and a life that travels and you’ll find them.
Fantastic post - thanks for helping out!
how is master of finance in this university? im planning to join next year!!!
It’s an excellent uni across all its academic areas.
My friend gonna do his PhD here in 2022 and if my mom allowed me to go there and give some money I will visit him there lol
Great place for a PhD 👍
you have to make a video for torrens university!!! pleeeeease
Ha ha, okay. I’ll try to do that next time I’m in Adelaide!
Have you looked at Southern Cross Uni?
Do you think it’s hard to manage a part time job when studying in the group 8 university? ( doing a computer science degree)
@@ChoosingYourUni thank you soo much for the reply i am mostly interested in data science and artificial intelligence.
Going here in July for Bachelor in Science with Major in Computer Science any idea how it is?
It's an awesome uni. What do you want to know?
@@ChoosingYourUni Actually I wanna know whether I should go for UNSW Software Engineering (Hons) or BSci at Uni Melb
Ah! A good question but you’ll need to unpack it a bit for me first. What do you like about each of those programs? What’s the benefit to you of each?
May i know about university sport or fitness? Does it has basketball courts?

Why I WOULD go to UniMelb:
- Australia’s most prestigious university
- beautiful campus
- very strong for research
Why I WOULD go to RMIT:
- one of the BEST unis in Australia for work integrated learning and real-world teaching and integration with business
- strong in applied research
- right in the middle of the CBD so HEAPS to do
Why I WOULD NOT go to UniMelb:
- maybe cost? I imagine it is going to be the most expensive option
Why I WOULD NOT go to RMIT:
- if you really don’t like being in the middle of a city
Hope that helps!
My opinions only. Follow your gut feeling.
Thank you so much ♥️
What about Bachelor of Computer science in Monash?
Sorry, what about it?

has anyone here done a masters of the environment in sustainability?
I think someone earlier in the comments mentioned that degree?
