@@RobPaul hey rob , i searched us people height percentile calculator. And i found that 6' 10.29 " is 100 percentile for man and 6' 4.17" is 100 percentile for women. Does it also means that 6' 10.29" and 6' 4.17" are considered start of giant heights for man and women in america.
It’s fair to go with 5’10 personally. Even tho most people will see you as maybe an inch taller in shoes, most ppl would want to go with barefoot height
Rob for me my biggest hesitation about giving a height claim is that the perception of height for most is not accurate due to the excessive amounts of false height claims plaguing society. For example most true 6 footers may be percieved as 6'1" or even 6'2" as many men close to that 6 foot mark that are in the 5'10 to weak 5'11" range will round themselves up when making height claims. Also many people unfortunately do not know how to convert between inches and centimeters for example my dad claimed 178cm and 5'11", one teacher of mine 190cm and 6'4". I believe they are unaware that an inch is 2.54cm rather than 2.5cm and actually where I live in QLD australia the departament of transport makes this same mistake. They even have a conversion chart which is incorrect it states 185cm as 6'2". Furthermore, they have a height measuring wall in centimeters which I'm sure is at least 2cm out as I was pegged as a huge 185cm or 6'2" at 16 and to be honest I was at best 183cm at that time. Most people here claim height based off of the departament of transport measurements so for me to claim my true height which is now about 184cm and to tell people I'm about 6 foot is difficult because people think I'm wrong but I'm really not. The method I've adapted is that when asked my height I will not tell the other person until they tell me their own. Then, I adjust my claim accordingly so I don't have to explain all of this to them.
This was a pretty neat video, I thought the format was entertaining. My official height is right at 5'11.75 around 3-6 hours out of bed, but of course I say that I am about 6 feet tall since it sounds tacky and considering everyone in the states claims a shoe height or downright lies. It kind of helps that I am mostly legs, causing me to hold up well proportionally with 6'2-6'3 guys (unless we're standing really close together). I also don't lose much, as my self-measurements tell me that I am about 6'.25" during the first hour or so out of bed and only drop down to about 5'11.5 at the worst.
you could easily say 6'1 there's nothing wrong with measuring in shoes tbh since its technically your actual height most of the day unless your a literal cave man lmao, and most do it like you said, plus the way we view height is messed up now to the point where 5'9 seems short cuz a lotta ppl that are like 5'7 claim 5'9, I'm 5'10 and can get away with 6'1 with short friends lol
@@asdfghjk2933 It depends on where you live in the US because some some areas have taller people than others. Plus there are people who wear big shoes to make themselves seem taller so just because someone might look around 6 ft to you doesn’t mean they actually are 6 ft

(182.2 cm/5'11 3/4) by the morning (181.5 cm/5'11 1/2) by midday *sometimes just 181 cm/5'11.25''* And I rarely fall under 180cm by night (only If I do exercise), but mostly it goes to about 180cm *I know I should claim about 181 cm/1.81m, but I really just like the claim of 182cm/1,82m better.* I know, it's 1 cm and nobody cares or goes around with a tape, but that's it, love your website/videos Paul!
I wake up at 6'0" pretty much exactly and drop to about 5'11.33 at a low, or near 5'11" flat an extreme low if I'm up 20+ hours and I've worked out legs that day (squats). Definitely a 5'11.5" claim would be 100% accurate I'd say, but I claim 6'0" because it sounds way better, faster to say and I wake up at it, so technically that's my height and I'm 6'0" and above in every pair of shoes ever made anyway so why not claim it. I also get told I look taller than my brother is actually is 6'0" at his lowest (or maybe just the tiniest bit under 6'0", not sure). My brother, who's 5'7", thought I wasn't just as tall as my brother who's a legit 6'0", but taller even. If it's half an inch or less, go ahead because of the reasons I said above and round up because ultimately you can do what you want and what makes you feel better. Nobody will really notice half an inch or especially less than that anyway and they won"t call you out.
Honestly, you do notice half an inch once you notice how tall 6 foot really is. I can tell when someone isn't foot 11.5,because they just don't look quite 6 foot, especially cause im 6 foot 2 it's easy to tell
@@MultiFirelover so you see difference between 182cm and 182,88cm. 6 foot is just magic number in america not in anywhere else. 182,88cm sounds stupid here to claim. Im actually now 179cm I hope to reach that 182,88cm so I can claim 5'12. Im bit short here so I do not think 3,88cm will make me tall maybe solid average. @@MultiFirelover Didn't you leave another comment saying "I usually claim my height 6 hours out of bed which is 184cm, though at night before bed I'm about 183.6"
@Jesse Dumont Sure you can go ahead and claim 6 ft but don't be surprised if you find yourself shorter than legit 6 footers. 5 ft 11 1/3 is closer to 5 ft 11, I would say if you are closer to 6 ft than 5 ft 11, or maybe 5 ft 11.5 flat for extreme low, then only claiming 6 ft sounds reasonable.
adding 2 inches is doable , people calling 5'8 short because alot of 5'6 people claimed to be 5'8 . alot of asian people ive talked to , who are in the 5'5 - 5'7 range ( which uses metric system) also claimed "im 175cm" (5'9) , which is ridiculous obviously but somehow alot of people believe it. if you are on the average or slightly below average range , *175cm or 5'9 is your height* , no matter how tall you really are exactly 7 out of 10 people ive met always add 2 inches , the other 3 are those type of people that dont care about their height , or a very short people
same here 1,77.2 morning and 1,75.7 late night, I use 176.5 as my oficial height. I have thick hair so it looks like i'm above 177, but I like to be real with my self.
I measure 188cm in the morning, and by night I don’t go under 186cm, so I’m pretty much exactly 5 inches taller than big rob. I claim about 6’1.5, or 6’1 3/8ths
Im around 6'2 1/4 in the morning then fall back to 6'1 1/2 at the end of the day. I claim 6'1 1/2 because its legit and most simple to claim. 6'1 3/4 seems way to complicated and detailed for me to say. On the other hand if I say im 6'2 it would be lying since im only that height for around 30mins after I wake up.
@@kawazaki23 Rob would most likely say 185cm for you There was another dude with your case and he put them at the same bench mark It's crazy how much you lose I go from 186.4cm out of bed to 184.3cm before bed at night
I measure closer to 6'8 in the morning and I just measured myself at 12:01 am and I'm 6'7 2/16, some days I shrink a lot more than that because I'm so tall and there's a lot of discs in my spine, at the end of some days I could measure around 6'6 1/2, but I'm claiming 6'8 because I play basketball and that's what we do, WE ROUND UP
So, my evening height is a little bit below 170cm (169.7 cm), can I claim I'm 5 ft 7 inch tall? Also what do you think of my morning height is? I only got chance to measure myself at my friend's house at night.
If you measure around 5'10 in the Evening within in 2/10 of an inch either above or below the 5'10 mark, you are Chilling my guys! That means you would be around 5'10.5 - 5'11 possibly in the morning. 5'10.5 just seems right, its a solid height. In Shoes depending on the foot wear, you could possibly measure around 5'11.30 - nearly 6ft. You could theoretically claim 5'11 as well, rounding up the half in or so.
Well I am 180.4 cm in the morning and shrink down to 177.6 cm at my extreme low. I am between 179-180 cm in the first 2 hours of the day and goes down to 178-178.5 cm after 7 hours of waking. After 12 hours I am 178 cm flat and after 16 hours I am 177.8 cm. If I had a very active day tiring my legs I probably goes down to 177.6 cm.I lose over an inch in height since I have a long torso. Plus I lose my morning height pretty fast since I am a bit heavy. So I claim 178 cm or 5'10". People quite often argue that I am taller. Does my claim seems legit?
@@gopikrishna9253I’m literally the exact same height as you in the morning and throughout the day.I used to always claim 5’10 or 5’10.5 but almost everyone said I looked a little bit taller like you mention (probably due to the fact that most people inflate their height by about an inch) , anyway nowadays I just claim about 5’11 as throughout the day I’m 5’10.5 and I would probably do the same if I were you.
Rob, love your videos and website. If you’ve found a way to parlay that into a full time income, then you’re living the dream! Also, as an American, just wanted to say not all of us are dense enough to give our “shoe-wearing” height, lol!
In the UK, sometimes people do get measured at Hospital or Doctor's with shoes on and probably claim that...I remember Jenny said they Nurse told her she can leave her sneakers on, so on her medical file she'll have an 'in shoes' height listed.
Claiming out of bed or before bed height doesn't make sense since you can't compare that height with other people. IMO claiming height about 2 or 3 hours after woke up is pretty acceptable.
That 185 cm must be your out of bed height. So you might be about 184 an hour after waking up , and go down to 183 in the afternoon. I'd claim 6'0.25 , or 183.5 cm . It's your choice to claim 184 or 183 whatever you like .
Hey Rob! Can I measure my height throughout the day, on a preferably less stressful day, when I'm well hydrated and had gotten a good 8 hours sleep at night? So as to calculate average height I could claim?
Yes. If you're curious to compare your height to celebrities on what Rob lists them at = measure yourself 5-6 hours out of bed and include some basic activity like walking cycling, sitting on desk chair. But avoid resting your back on a sofa/couch just before you measure.
@@RobPaul So the heights on celebheights are just about or near their absolute lows? I thought that the heights listed are maybe 0.25 of an inch more than their evening heights or represent mid afternoon measurements.
@@roundearthshill247 no, that wouldn't make sense because Rob is guessing REAL heights/average heighs. For example zlatan ibrahimovic measured 194cm and 194.5 but rob listed him as 194.3cm which 6'4 1/2 but average guesses were a bit higher. I would say 194.4cm for Ibra. Thats how it goes.

I have recently been measured at just over 5'8" and also 174cm (a different Nurse told me I'm just under 5'9" when she measured me at 174cm.) The last time I got measured was with a stadiometer a few weeks ago and it measured me at 172cm. The Nurse who measured me at just over 5'8" told me that the stadiometers the Doctors use can be unreliable. I also got measured at 172.5cm (the Doctor told me I'm basically 5'8".) This is what I do I add my morning height too my evening height and divide it by 2. Then I just claim that height. We usually shrink 0.75% of a inch. Some people more even less. So for example you can do this with cm or inches 75 in + 75.75 in =150.75 inches. ÷ by 2. Your height in the middle is 75.375 in. 6′3.375 in feet and inches Or 190.5 cm +192.4 cm = 382.9 cm. ÷ by 2 = 191.45 This is just what I do :) What do you think rob? Its something I found
Hey Rob, do you know if chiropractic adjustment can add an inch of height after consistent treatment. I have bad posture and measure 6’1” in the morning and 6’0 ft at night time. Do you think stretching or chiropractic treatment can get me to 6’2” in the morning?
Unless you have severe kyphosis or scoliosis than maybe you can gain an inch or 2. But normally if you have normal bad posture than just standing straight will maximise your height. When you measure your height you should be already standing your straightest
What about lost height from poor childhood nutrition (I often refused to eat, contrary to my 8000+ calories now), injury, and stress. Can that be regained or is that gone for good?
User if your growth plates have closed, meaning you are above 20 years old than it is unlikely you can regain those height, however if you are between 15-17 yrs there is still a chance to regain that height if you eat healthily and exercise. But what makes you so sure that your poor nutrition led to your height, are you shorter than your parents/siblings, I would only imagine you to be really starving to have your height stunt
My morning height is a bit over 5'9 and my evening is 5'8.7 so I lose half an inch during the day lol I just claim I'm 5'9 because most of the time I do not feel any less shorter than 5'9.
I'm the same, 5ft9 and a quarter in the morning and about 5ft8 and 3/4 by the evening. I'm not going to round it down by three quarters lol I'll just find the midway point which is 5ft9.
@glennchinyangarara8225 Well it's your highest peak so doesn't matter. There's a reason people ask you how tall you are lol the expectation is to respond with your highest peak which is the morning.
At 15, I was claimed to be 5' 5.5" (around 167cms). I was claimed the same at 17. Now, at 23, I'm claimed as a solid 5' 6" (which I find ridiculous). A coworker who also claims to be of my height, doesn't have straight eye contact. By no means, I'm wearing any shoes that boost my height, so that confidentially and supposedly puts me at 5' 7" at best. My older brother claims to be of the same height, though I heard at one point with bloody sneakers he was 5' 8?! Got another coworker who claims to be 5' 7.5 (172cms), but he looks like 5' 9". So generally, I'd claim to be 5' 8", but I'm sure I'm reaching the solid 5' 7", if I take the morning-evening height into account.
If you constantly wear shoes you can go with that but I’d personally just knock maybe an inch off your present claim so claim 5’7” you’re not short but not tall. I claim 5’8” and sometimes I measure at 172cm and at other times 173cm

Good question, first of all when we go to school or when I was in the army in France, the medical examinations was always early in the morning, so the height was measured at high level , so I remember the higher level for me at 22 yo was 187,5 , so I claimed 187 or 188 ... same in identity card , a "honest" 187 cm. I noticed few time later at 30 yo, a medical examination but after work around 6 pm , so around 185.5 . I was surprised of it , so like you Rob and Jenny, I decided to check my height at bed jump , so almost 188.5 cm , to only reach 185.5 before going to bed. I have to say that I have had a Scheuerman desease, not very important but a chiro said to me I lost more than a good inch , maybe more! Now, at 59 , I still claim 187 in identity card but the more time I live in a day , I'm only around185. 5...
@@RobPaul , you make me remind I've ever experimented it, in a hospital when I was 27, 28 yo . An examination by the doctor gave 188 cm I remember. During medical examinations, in most cases, you can be measured with shoes and they remove 1.5 cm if tennis shoes ou 2 cm if town shoes . No very precise value, you can say, seeing your try with various shoes. And in another cases, the doctor or the nurse asks you your height, avoiding the stadiometer, so you claim what you want.... ! ;-)
I would say that an average of your morning height and evening height is the most representative height for someone. The issue with morning height is that we lose it very vastly, after one hour being awake we usually have lost already 1 cm. So, for any medical appointment or other official appointment, we will have lost already some height from our out of bed height, it is unavoidable.

You need to do a Sean Connery height finder. There's many different height measurements for him out there. 6'2 most say but you get alot of 6'2 and a half or even 6'3.
I`m 189 cm and something in the morning but in the evening around 187.5 cm, both bare foot of course. I say I`m 6`1-6`2 basically as I think you really have to be in the 189-190 cm range to claim a strong 6`2. What do others think? Am I underestimating my height or not?
189-190 cm is actually 6'3 range. You can claim yourself as a 6'2 or even 6'3. 186 cm is 6'1 and some mm or "quaters". You can round that cringy "a half" and "quarters" to the highest, so you won't sound cringy. And you save people from inappropriate height calculations.

Half an inch or less than that especially, I say go ahead because you can do what you want and do what makes you feel better. No one really notices half an inch anyway. I think it's fair. Most shoes give you at least half an inch anyway.
Indeed is true the fact that you go out, most of the time after a few hours of being awake, but also you do not go bare footed, in most cases, so claiming morning height, for some may not be unfair, after all. It is to my opinion your real height, morning height is your real height after recovering of the stress that leads to the shrinking during the day.
Well it depends really coz barely anyone sees you at your morning height. In fact most people will see you in footwear at your average height. I’m 173cm typically and I wear 3-4cm shoes most of the time, so that would make me 176-177cm which funnily enough that was what I measured in Air Forces a year and a half ago. Your real height is your barefoot height when you’ve been up for at least 3 hours. It’s normally near half an inch less than your height out of bed. I don’t claim anymore than 173 though.

I measured agains't the wall 179,2cm and then right after that I measured 180cm on the other wall. I think 180cm bit too high but 179,2cm too low so I go with 179,5cm or 5'10,75. This was after 8 hours being awake.
When it comes to time to measure I believe 12pm to 4pm is the best time. Think most guys wake 7am-9am = 8am on average so by then you've been up 4-8 hours. Just don't lounge in all day and do some type of activity walking/standing/mild strain activity.
This is just stupid. Why do you have to have so many prerequisites like "Oh you have to have been up for at least X amount of hours AND have done physical activity to claim a height"... Like literally just pick the number between your morning height and evening height.
You'd find many guys would round to 6ft 1. I don't know if you like using 'almost 6ft 1', but that's one option. If it were me I'd be going metric with 184cm.

Honest claim

So Rob, for example Jon Hamms height listing of 6’ 3/4”, would he measure around 6’1.25” in the morning and be 6’0.5” by night time?

@@roundearthshill247 no, that wouldn't make sense because Rob is guessing REAL heights/average heighs. For example zlatan ibrahimovic measured 194cm and 194.5 but rob listed him as 194.3cm which 6'4 1/2 but average guesses were a bit higher. I would say 194.4cm for Ibra. Thats how it goes.

Afternoon is midday so that’s ur proper height. So go with 5’10 nothing wrong with it
I’m 5’9 7/8 in the morning and 5’9 1/4 at night but I shrink quickly through the day, so would it be best to add the two numbers together and divide by 2 to get the accurate average, and that’s while standing at my absolute tallest, can I count it that way as well?

I’d claim 6’2 in general
Not necessarily. If you are 187-188cm you are about 6’2. 187,5cm is almost 6’2. I’m 187-188cm myself and I say about 6’2
@@footballfan283 Coming from Europe originally, it always baffled me how inaccurate feet & inches are to describe people`s height. My best friend growing up was a solid 190 cm, I was always a little shorter than him but the difference was noticeable! So both of us are going to say we are 6`2!? Or is he going to say oh I`m 6`2 3/8? The ridiculousness of feet & inches for height is just beyond belief! Whereas cm-s precisely tell you ones height! No ifs, no buts!

My morning height is 181cm and night like 179cm. 179cm is bit of short and just under mighty 180cm mark. But 181cm is even bit of tall.
