But still my sister’s height from petite paternal grandmother. My dad was abusing mom in front of brother when I was conceived, and I’m 5’ 9” but weak in every way. I’m clinically depressed and anxious like my dad. All 3 the double cousins are taller and longer from sports and access to better healthcare. We were sheltered in an abusive environment and eventually poor when my family’s traditional occupation was no longer allowed. My brother who was a victim of the violence ended up with juvenile diabetes@ 12. He Is the shortest of the 3 male double cousins, eldest is 6’ 6” and my bro is 6’2” then 6’ 4” is youngest. Only one is Heterosexual, the eldest. His little brother, the son of a gangster was clearly gay. At 2 years old we knew and his thug dad too. So I can’t help but imagine it being genetic. Or epigenetics. Maybe the fact my mom and her sister were married to brothers and somewhere in the environment resulted in this. There is also 3 female double cousins. I’m eldest at 5ft 9in, my sister is 5’5” My athletic little cousin is 5ft 11in. We are all very intelligent and it’s theorized from the 3 generations of fisherman we come from as our main source of nutrition. A varied diet. Epigenetic’s role is so apparent. It’s interesting science to be able to know so much and hypothetically use this knowledge as I raise my children.

@@coconut4825 no problem! I’m 72.5 inches, my husband is 73 inches tall. I added them together and divided by two. That gave me 72.75. To that I added 2.5 inches per the instructions, and that gave me 75.25. That’s 6’3.25, which is close to 6’4”. Hope that helps!

I have a similar story; my dad is 5'10" and my mom is 5'4", and I'm 4'6", but I have genetic disorder where collagen isn't formed properly, and it has led to pretty severe scoliosis. However, my sisters aren't disabled, and it doesn't work for them either; they're 5'1" and 5'2".

Add 2.5 inches to y if you’re male and subtract 2.5 inches from your if you’re female (if you happen to be intersex you can just skip this part ig) EXAMPLE: my mom is 5’ 2” so in inches she would be 62 inches my dad is 5’ 11” so he would be 71 inches 62 + 71 is 133 133 divided by 2 = 66.5 I’m male so i am going to add 2.5 inches to my height which would equal to 69 inches which is 5’ 9” (Thanks for reading and remember this isn’t always 100% true its just the average of your parents heights plus a little bit or minus a little bit)
My sister and I when we were really young had our wrist bones x-rayed by a dr to predict how tall we would be. I guess that’s another way to predict how tall someone will be?
My mother is 5'8 and my father is 6'0. According to this I should be about 5'7 as a female. I'm 5'6, my younger sister is 5'5 ish, and my youngest sister is 5'5. If we were males I would be about 6'0 tall, but since I'm the oldest, I probably would have ended up 5'9, and my younger brothers would have reached 6'0+ feet.

It doesn't work for me. My dad is 5'11" and my mom is 5'0". I'm 4'10". However, the reason for this is actually a dominant gene I got from my mom that causes bones to fuse prematurely, so I stopped growing in middle school. My GENETIC height is predicted to be taller, but a mutation in my SHOX gene caused me to be shorter! So for everyone saying it doesn't work for them, keep in mind sometimes other things are going on that changes the expression of certain genes.

your dads height in inches
+ your moms height in inches
= x
Step 2.
x divided by 2 = y
Step 3.
Add 2.5 inches to y if you’re male and subtract 2.5 inches from your if you’re female
(if you happen to be intersex you can just skip this part ig)
EXAMPLE:
my mom is 5’ 2” so in inches she would be 62 inches
my dad is 5’ 11” so he would be 71 inches
62 + 71 is 133
133 divided by 2 = 66.5
I’m male so i am going to add 2.5 inches to my height which would equal to 69 inches which is 5’ 9”
