    Don’t know why but I seem to be 1.5-2 cm shorter with back against stadiometer compared to facing it directly, I go with facing the stadiometer as I seem to stand with the best posture that way.

    I don't know if it's just me or is everybody around me in my life measuring their height wrong lol. All of my friends and everyone I know claim taller than they actually are. I am not sure why this is but I think a lot of people measure with their shoes on nowadays. It's like the only time you actually measure your REAL height with your shoes off and hair pressed all the way down is when you go to the doctors. When I went to the doctor, I measured at only 5'6 1/4"(shoes off and hair pressed all the way down, similar to how Rob measured his height in this video), but people around me in public thinks I'm more like 5'9". My PE teacher also measured me the other day and he measured everyone with their shoes on. With my sneakers on and my hair not pressed down, I measured at 5'10.5" at my hair lol. And that's what my teacher put me as.

      probably due to 95% of people sort of lying about their height and often inflating it, it seems like everyone is taller so for instance, many guys claim they're 6'0 and everyone buys it but then when they see a real 6'0 they think he's taller since the fake 6'0 people are shorter, I understand what you mean and yeah, also many people give the height with shoes, I give mine with flip flops since it's an habit of wearing them inside home the whole time lol and due to people inflating their height, if you give your real one it will feel like you're shorter. Even UFC fighters do this, guy claiming to be 6'4 but actually being 6'1, it's ridiculous, nobody checks

  • @AheeanRahaman

If i go to doctors to meaure height i wish you could choose which direction you can be measured then it wont be making me so insecure. Home measurements, at night a little over 177cm at night but against wall im shorter unless i dont put my back against wall and just put my bum against the wall. @@subie1019 The concept of "feeling tall" is a pretty bad gauge of one's own height, unless you're 6f 5+ and your shoulders are towering over most people's heads lol. When we're using our eyes to compare our height to others in our environment, we're naturally only considering eye level. You're subconsciously leaving out like 4/5 inches between your eyes and the top of your head. You ever felt shorter than someone and then you catch a reflection and see that you're like the same height or even slightly taller than them? Similar to when you see a photo of yourself and surprised at how tall you appear.

      6'4 is tall for Americans because americans ar really short people. In lots of Scandinavian countrys 6'4 is not really tall just a little bit above avarage. Specially now. The new generation of kids in Scandinavia is like 6'2. if you come to neatherland you can find a 6'4 girl on the street in under 5 mins. Also avarage in some European universities is above 6'6. And If you compare 6'4 to some of the animals like a bear or a gorrila 6'4 is not even tall at all.

    Is the back of the feet against base plate the standard way in your eyes with back to the wall Rob and has it always been in your eyes?
    Because I think from experience (although I haven't tested this since I was about 16, 35 years ago) that having your feet slightly away from the wall, say by 2 to 3 cm, in the back to the wall position, gives you more height. This is basically because everyone has a bum, and it causes forward rotation (lean) unless your hips are set up right (hamstring / psoas / quad / ab / Lower back ratios). On the other hand facing front you have more space, due to the forefoot distance and an obvious optimum could be between 2 and 10 based on your two measurements and my observation; 2-10 is less than anyone's forefoot.
    But my question is if back to the wall, which as you said is more common, why should our heels touch the wall, as it's not optimal? It should be whatever position is comfortable in order to straighten the legs and back and get the best height, no? In other words I'm suggesting that measuring in the middle of the day is one thing, but anything reduces height even further actually seems to be non - standard in that everyone has a different hip body structure - and foot length. Maybe we should measure any way that gives the best height (without visibly leaning back or tilting head), otherwise our foot and hip proportions interfere.

    • @texluh
      @texluh ปีที่แล้ว

      Obviously with toes forward you can stand straight, but I'm not convinced that the standometer reaches far back enough on the head if you have long feet / feet commensurate with people over 5 ft 10

      Also remember averages are not taken at night...so if you were to be included in the average height study you would be measured as 186cm most likely...

      For the few countries which are 180-181cm average I’d say tall starts at 188cm and not 185cm...but at 185cm you should feel above average everywhere except Netherlands where you’re only taller than average by about 2cm which is negligible difference.

      just check your bmi (body mass index) it tells you what weight is a healthy weight and whats overweight or underweight. you can be overweight though and not be fat depending on how much muscle you have

    Hi. i have a job interview and they will measure my height because of the height requirements. So is there anyway to gain 1cm? Please tell what to do to get taller a little bit

    I just measured right now facing the wall as Rob does in the video it's 12;00am I got 175.9 and 1.75.5 back. Now out of bed it's 8:00 AM (8hours of sleep) and I'm 1.76,6 hollysh, I think I'm still growing I remember I was 1.74 in 2018 now I'm 22, maybe I'll grow an inch taller before 25

    What about wingspam facing the wall vs back against the wall ? My wingspam is about 1 cm longuer when i face the wall but i have noticed that sport teams mesure it with the back against the wall.

      Rob Paul so facing the wall is the most accurate way of mesuring wingspam ?

      Look at the NBA combine. Wingspan measurements are taken with chest against the wall.
