I seriously don’t understand the obsession with (specifically male) height in the dating world. I have never personally felt that below average height = unattractive. I am taller than my partner and it has never been an issue. The only thing that makes shorter men unattractive is when they’re clearly insecure about it. It’s valid that they would be insecure though after seeing how they are mistreated and overlooked by women, and by other men.

I guess it is due to evolution why we associate tallness with masculinity, being strong and capable of protecting and providing for the family, and shortness as being more feminine, caring for the offspring and being reserved. That is why not adhering to this scheme results in a kind of discrimination. It's unfair because height is beyond one's control, but I suppose evolution doesn't concern itself with fairness.

I love the comments section! So real. It seemed as if being short is negative in society and being tall, although, maybe a minority, is still seen positively. Through sports, careers, relationships etc. definitely an episode to think about twice before judging another person.
I feel for short guys, not because they’re short nothing wrong with that, but because many people just think lower of them because of it. It’s not something you can ever change. I respect those who can be confident regardless because, they actually have earned their confidence with their character, rather than people (much like myself) who have it because they’ve always been treated well because of things I never worked for.

I remember in junior high school my female classmates would bully me by telling me that I'll be short or a dwarf. I was 4'11 or 150 cm as a guy when I graduated in junior high (9th grade). By the time I reached 11th grade all the female classmates bullying stopped completely. My height is 5'9 or 175 cm. I rejected all prom invites and never went to prom dances as a revengeful tactic. No regrets.

I'm on the short side of the spectrum. Society tends to see me as less masculine and I struggled with accepting my height for a long time. It doesn't help with the ladies. They are always looking for Tall, Dark, and Handsome. Now that I am in my 30s I have just come to accept it and it doesn't bother me as much.

I guess it is due to evolution why we associate tallness with masculinity, being strong and capable of protecting and providing for the family, and shortness as being more feminine, caring for the offspring and being reserved. That is why not adhering to this scheme results in a kind of discrimination. It's unfair because height is beyond one's control, but I suppose evolution doesn't concern itself with fairness.

how is shortness in any way an indication of being reserved and caring? height preferences are a result of social ideas about femininity and masculinity, not evolution. it would make more sense for men to prefer tall women who can protect their offspring, as women have always been the ones who care for the children.

I remember in junior high school my female classmates would bully me by telling me that I'll be short or a dwarf. I was 4'11 or 150 cm as a guy when I graduated in junior high (9th grade). By the time I reached 11th grade all the female classmates bullying stopped completely. My height is 5'9 or 175 cm. I rejected all prom invites and never went to prom dances as a revengeful tactic. No regrets.

Maybe woman might not like that you’re short but they will notice you’re attractiveness for sure. At that point if you have a chance to talk to them it’s all about confidence and personality.

5'7 is fairly tall by US standards for a woman ....if the average height for women in the states is about 5'4, being 5'7 would make you taller than about 85% of all American women ... so if you live in a 'short state', that percentage will be even higher.

I'm on the short side of the spectrum. Society tends to see me as less masculine and I struggled with accepting my height for a long time. It doesn't help with the ladies. They are always looking for Tall, Dark, and Handsome. Now that I am in my 30s I have just come to accept it and it doesn't bother me as much.
